NEWS CENTER – Heval Baran Mawa was born in Mardin and took his place in the ranks of the freedom struggle in his youth, in 2003, because he believed that something should be done against Turkish fascism. Heval Baran, who was involved in the work of Komalen Ciwan since 2003, stayed in the youth work for many years and then joined the active guerrilla struggle.
He had a significant influence in building the revolution in Rojava and participated as a commander in the self-management resistance in northern Kurdistan. Regarding the resistance of the cities that took place in 2015, 2016 in the north of Kurdistan, he said:
“This is the most comprehensive step in the history of our struggle. It is both the most difficult step in the history of our struggle and a process in which its achievements are immense. We will try to explain as much as possible. I don’t know how satisfactory it will be. That is, it is really important to fully explain the totality of the details and to reflect the right to this process is important. Because it is a process that has many achievements as well as being a very difficult process. This process should be known. A very important stage in the struggle of the revolution, is the struggle of our revolution, in the north of Kurdistan. If we do not understand this process well, we cannot understand the processes after it nor our own situation after this process. Therefore, explaining the details is important. Understanding and getting to know the hevals (comrades) is also important. It is also important to choose the right approach to this process. Since some speculative approaches are used in evaluations and approaches, different evaluations and discussions are made. Each and everyone says something about this process; however, the interpretation of this process is not the responsibility of the people who were not involved in this process. Therefore, the best assessment is the one that comes from those who have resisted in this process. The comrades who resisted there and fell in resistance Şehid.
What best describes this process is the personality of the Hevals and their resistance. That is why there is nothing we have to say. As far as it is possible for us, we will try to reflect their statements. As far as we can, we will try to make them the home of society and history. There is nothing else we can do but talk about their resistance and heroism, we have no strength for anything else. Nor do we have the right to do so. What we must do, however, is to be worthy of their perseverance and struggle.”

We commemorate the guerrilla commander and unprecedented leader of the youth Şehid Baran Mawa who died on 07 June 2018 in Hakkari, Kunefê area in Regin Faraşin, along with six other guerrillas in resistance against the Turkish occupying army.
