BEHDINAN – HPG Press Center announced in its statement dated 10 July 2022 that the body of a soldier from the occupying Turkish army was in their hands. Video here.
The statement included the following information:
“It has been clarified that the name of the soldier who died on July 7, 2022 and whose funeral is in the hands of our forces is Naci Kaygısız. It was understood that this soldier was a member of the Turkish special forces and that his death was hidden from the public. As we have shared with the public before, those who sent these soldiers to the invasion campaign of Kurdistan do not claim the funeral of their own soldiers. That’s why we call on the family of the Turkish soldier named Naci Kaygısız, stating that we can deliver the bodies of their children through civilians if they demand. His family can come to Amiye district of Duhok province in Bashure Kurdistan and contact us through the civilians in the region.”
Despite the statements made by the HPG, the invading Turkish state continued to hide the death of the soldier, and it was learned that no application was made to the HPG for the retrieving of the body.
It is thought that due to the intense pressure of the invading Turkish state, many parts of it avoid voicing this issue.
The guerrillas, who seized the body of soldier Naci Kaygısız, gave new details about the soldier killed during the invasion attacks.
Speaking in front of a camera on 9 July, the guerrillas said, “This soldier and another soldier were punished by our forces. His name is Naci Kaygısız. This name is written on his helmet. He was not wearing an ID or the tag that the soldiers wore around his neck. It was just the phone. There was nothing different. It is what it says on his cap,” he said.
PKK Executive Committee Member Murat Karayılan also stated the following about this issue in his interview with ANF: “Now they apply a great deal of censorship about the war in order not to be demolished. No one can share information about this issue. All information is given only by Hulusi Akar. No one else can comment on it.
They do not give their dead; they hide everything. Indeed, they are committing a great dishonor. Not only are they breaking the laws of international war, they are violating moral standards. The soldier are dying; They can’t take it away from there, so they destroys the bodies by hitting them with planes. They are bombing the place where the bodies are. For example, this is what happened in Shikefta Brîndara to the east of the Zap and Girê Cudî to the west of the Zap; Our friends here say that they cannot move because of the smell of the funeral. Because the land was filled with funeral parts and they bombed them all. What will they say to their families, one is surprised.
In fact, they took precautionary measures. These soldiers make their families sign documents while enrolling in the military, and they say that they should hide it if the interests of the state require it, that it will not be announced, that if there is an action other than this, compensation and so on. They document that it will be cut. Because whoever dies in the war, they give a high salary to his family. And because of the threat of cutting that salary, no one talks about it. Soldier families do not speak either; only a few people speak. For example, their funerals are in the hands of friends, but they do not talk about it. Friends announce their names but still do not mention it. They say about the soldier who died next to his friends, ‘we took him to the hospital, but he died there’. However, his body is on the mountain. So they do everything with lies.”
