Our comrade Berfîn Rêbaz, the noble, honorable and valiant son of the people of Bashure Kurdistan, a competent militant of our party PKK and the brave commander of our YJA Star army, was martyred on 11 June 2022 in the Metina area. Our comrade Berfîn has achieved the honor of being one of our symbolic martyrs with her participation in the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, her patriotic stance, her brave fighter, her sincere comradeship, her creative artistry and the fact that she is a free woman. The truth embodied in the person of our comrade Berfîn has been a source of honor and pride for the entire Kurdish people, at a time when the collaborative treasonous Kurdish line bowed to the invaders, became collaborators, and tainted the freedom struggle of our people by offering our country’s lands and values. The city of Silêmanî, which is one of the centers of revolution and enlightenment in Kurdistan with the serhildans it developed against the occupation, and the countless intellectuals and artists it raised, has an important place in the history of Kurdistan with this feature. Silêmanî, who has always waved the freedom and independence flag of the Kurdish people with the numerous serhildans he developed in the years when modern Kurdish public awareness began, also hosted the strong Kurdish folk tradition and culture. Undoubtedly, the city of Silêmani gained this feature thanks to the struggle of the revolutionaries and intellectuals who grew up here. Especially at a time when women wanted to be drowned in the darkness of the Middle Ages, many Kurdish women, especially those from Silêmanî, made historical breakthroughs.
Our comrade Berfîn was born in a patriotic family in Silêmanî as one of the last representatives of the historical noble tradition of revolutionaries, intellectuals and artists who left their mark on the history of Kurdistan and whose leadership started with Hepsêxan, Fatmaxan Adîlexan, continued with Leyla Qasim and culminated with our comrade Viyan Soran. Our comrade Berfîn, who has a developed historical consciousness, has never accepted an ordinary life for himself. He always questioned the environment in which she lived, and did not accept the backward aspects of the society she lived in and resorted to ways to struggle with them. Having a rebellious and disobedient personality, our comrade Berfîn is constantly on the lookout. As a result of these searches, she started to recognize the PKK and the reality of Leader Apo and stated that her life became more meaningful.
During her studies, he had the opportunity to do more research and analyzed the hypocritical policies of the forces in power in the name of freedom and independence in Bashure Kurdistan. For this reason, she felt great anger against these powers and made her aware that this system cannot meet our people’s demands for freedom, democracy and independence. In this process, our party closely followed the revolutionary moves that developed under the leadership of the PKK in Kurdistan. The truth of our martyrs, whom we gave almost every day in the war, deeply affected our comrade Berfîn made it to the consciousness that it could not meet the demands for democracy and independence.
Our comrade Berfîn, who saw true patriotism and revolutionism in the Kurdistan guerrilla, was especially impressed by the martyrdom of our comrade Rêbaz, who was martyred in the Medya Defense Zones in 2015, and decided to join the guerrilla ranks. After joining the guerrilla ranks, she was deeply affected by the comradely relations of the PKK and fully involved herself in the free life of the guerrilla in order to be a good comrade. Our comrade Berfîn, who knew our struggle better thanks to the Leadership and Party history lessons she received, was particularly impressed by the Amed Dungeon Resistance and promised to protect the life of the PKK, which was created at great cost, under all circumstances. The intense oppression of women in society as a Kurdish woman, which deepened their focus on understanding the essence of the PKK with our Leader’s Women’s Liberation Ideology, torture and humiliation brought to consciousness in a more profound way. Our comrade Berfîn, who does not accept the way of life that is seen as a woman’s life, has fought for this as a woman revolutionary. As she deepened herself in our Leader’s ideology of freedom, she felt that she became more and more liberated, and she dealt with her whole life on this basis.
Our comrade Berfîn, who always wanted to be a good and strong militant, acted with the awareness that this is possible with effort and sacrifice. That’s why she participated in every moment of life without account, and tried to make up for any shortcomings she saw. The more he deepened himself in our Leader’s ideology of freedom, the more he felt that he was liberated, and he approached her whole life on this basis.
She was well aware that a complete revolution is possible only with an ideologically and militarily developed personality, has succeeded in becoming a professional guerrilla with the training she received within the framework of the restructuring of the guerrilla. At the same time, as a requirement of being a consistent militant, she wanted to immediately practice what she learned in the training’s. For this, she worked as a guerrilla in the Zap area between 2016-2018, when the war was most intense, and gained great experience. While the representatives of the collaborative and treacherous Kurdish line stood hand in hand against the invaders, our comrade Berfin dealt the most effective blows to the invaders in many of the actions he participated in and proved with practice what it means to be a free and honorable Kurd. In this sense, genuine patriotism in Bashure Kurdistan.
Our comrade Berfîn, who went to the Garê area after the Zap, was educated at the Martyr Beritan Academy, the free women’s military academy. Our comrade Berfîn put her experiences in life and war on a more scientific basis with the training she received and succeeded in becoming a leading female commander. After every training she received and every concentration she made, she felt more responsible for the physical freedom of Leader Apo, the architect of our free life, and determined the physical freedom of our Leader as her top priority. She believed that she needed to expand her struggle and war more in order to achieve this aim and goal, and suggested going to the areas where the war was most intense. On this basis, she was transferred to the field of Metîna at the level of the unit command. She actively participated in the Cenga Xabûre Revolutionary Campaign, which was launched in 2021, when enemy attacks intensified. Our comrade Berfîn, who took part in many actions that dealt a blow to the enemy in the Kêste and Derarê line, tried to increase the epic resistance fire of the Zendura Resistance with his struggle.
Our comrade Berfîn felt great anger against the efforts of some treacherous collaborator Kurdish forces collaborating with the Turkish occupation to isolate our Party, the PKK, from the people of Bashure Kurdistan. As a Kurdish woman and Apoist militant from Bashure Kurdistan, she showed the necessary response to these collaborators with her faith and determination in her struggle, and in this sense, she set an example for all young women and men from Bashur. Our comrade Berfîn, who embodies how and where every Bashur youth who calls himself a patriotic and revolutionary should struggle with her life and struggle, has become a self-sacrificing militant that all Kurdish people, especially Bashure Kurdistan, will take as an example.
Our comrade Berfîn, who is known by all her comrades and our people with her talent in art as well as her mastery on the battlefield, tried to immortalize her martyred comrades with her revolutionary songs and poems. In this sense, Hozan continued his guerrilla artistry that he inherited from Mizgin and Delila, proving that revolutionism is the greatest art and the guerrilla is master artists. With this feature, she has been a source of morale for all his comrades and our people.
Comrade Berfîn, who fought with a great sacrifice spirit in the most critical period of our war, which was also developed in the style of sacrifice in 2022, and ran to the battle position without hesitation to prevent the advance of the invaders, was immortalized by reaching martyrdom in the enemy attack. The life of our comrade Berfîn, who has determined to follow in the footsteps of our comrades Viyan Soran and Helmet, whom he always takes as an example, as one of the most basic principles, is also valiant and self-sacrificing like Viyan; He has been wise, like Helmet.
Her precious family, the patriotic people of Silêmani, and the people of Bashurê Kurdistan, who gifted such a valuable and beautiful comrade as our comrade Berfîn, to all the people of Kurdistan, should be proud of their brave sons. We express our condolences to the patriotic family of our comrade Berfin and all the patriotic people of Kurdistan. As fellow fighters of our comrade Berfîn, we reiterate our promise to realize the freedom revolution we gave to all our martyrs and not to allow the invasion in Bashure Kurdistan.”
