Whether the world does not want to see it, ignores it or plays the three monkeys, a great war is being waged in Kurdistan. In the South of Kurdistan, the “existence, extinction” war continues with all its violence. Under the leadership of the fascist chief Erdogan, who has come to the end of his life, the AKP-MHP alliance has launched a new invasion and genocidal attack against the Kurds by “following” the tradition they had come to avoid. The war that started in Garê in February 2021 and continues today in Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna is becoming more and more fateful with each passing day. With the invasion attacks launched on Zap, Avaşîn and Metina from Medya Defense Zones on 23-24 April 2021, they did not hide their aims from the very beginning, with the day chosen as the launch date.
The message of not giving place to Kurds in the Turkish Parliament, which was established on April 23, 1920, which was the declaration of their “liberation” as a result of the alliance with the Kurds, and to continue the genocide, which was considered common for Armenians, with the Kurds, was given on April 24, 1915. The fascist Turkish state made its intentions clear from the very beginning. Looking at their own history, they saw and see every way as permissible for this. The colonialist, occupier, fascist and genocidal mentality that wants to guarantee its life after the extinction of the Kurds in the most ruthless way without considering any humanity and social values, wants to get results in the same way today. But he doesn’t keep any accounts. No door knocked inside or outside is a cure for his salvation. As the end draws near, war knows no bounds; for this, he increases his persecution. He seeks the exit by using chemical weapons.
The fascist Turkish state, which suffered great defeats against the guerrilla, which is unique in the world with its freedom struggle, clung to chemical weapons. We know from its own recent history that the Turkish state has only one thing to do when it is stuck, forced, unable to cope or subdue, and that is massacre and genocide. He did not hesitate to use chemicals for this. After all, he will not be held accountable, he thinks that what has been done will be profitable for him. Which has happened in history. Despite all these Kurdish massacres and genocides, no voice has ever been heard from any country that holds the wheel of the world, especially Europe, which prides itself on its law. Silence is affirmation, support. It means being a partner in the genocide plan. As a matter of fact, the fascist chief Erdogan, In 2019, he showed what he wanted to do in Kurdistan with the map of the region in the United Nations Security Council, and not a single voice came from the leader of any country. Therefore, Erdogan had his genocide plan approved by the UN, which is supposedly the guarantee of the nations. It was almost as if Erdogan was told to read what you know, we are behind you. Although many applications have been made to the UN about chemical weapons used against the Kurds, there has been no single result.
The fascist Turkish state has used chemical weapons dozens of times against the guerrilla, which it has been hit with, forced and could not cope with in recent years. He even used chemicals in the so-called rescue (actually killing) operation of the captive soldiers and police in Garê; No soldiers or policemen survived the operation. They had already made it clear in Garê what they would do at the expense of their own power. His eyes are darkened to stay in power. Afterwards, the fascist Turkish state, which could not get the desired result in Zap, Avaşîn and Metina, suffered great defeats in the face of the guerrilla’s new war tactics, underground and surface resistance and struggle, and every attack was broken, the fascist Turkish state sought a solution against the guerrilla’s tunnel war by using chemicals. HPG, which has been releasing daily balance sheets since 23-24 April 2021, also explains how many times the Turkish army has used chemicals in the war tunnels.
After all, the Turkish state continues to commit this inhumane crime, thinking that it will remain unaccountable; under the “silence” of humanity and in front of everyone. Just like in recent history. Those who took part in the massacre in Dersim in 1937-38 confessed that they killed the Kurds by using rat poison. The photographs of the 1988 Halabja-Anfal massacre are still fresh in our memory. No one, no country or state spoke out against the chemical weapons used by Saddam that day; until the end of walking with Saddam, who was in trouble and came out of his own workshops, the chemical weapons used in Halabja, albeit partially, were brought up. But although there was a genocide in Halabja, it was still not recognized as genocide. Because the end of the rope rested on them. They are the ones who gave Saddam the chemical weapons.
In 2010, the Turkish state, which was hit hard by the guerrilla’s 1st June Revolutionary People’s War Strategy Move and came to a dead end, again took up chemical weapons. Despite the chemical weapons samples used against the guerrilla in Geliyê Teyarê in 2011, not a single sanction has been imposed on the Turkish state until today. The Turkish state resorts to chemical weapons not only against the guerrilla, but wherever there is Kurdish resistance. The whole world saw that the Turkish state, which could not digest the Rojava Revolution, used banned cluster munitions in its invasion attacks against Rojava many times since 2014 and most recently in the Girê Spi-Serêkanıyê attack. He uses chemicals every day and continues to use them. In short, the Turkish state’s record of chemical weapons is innumerable.
The silence of international powers and states on the use of chemical weapons is understandable. Because they are accomplices. It is they themselves who supply and sell chemicals to the Turkish army. We should not be deceived by the voices they are making against nuclear weapons these days. Let’s not look at whether Russia will use nuclear weapons against Ukraine, whether Iran will continue to build nuclear weapons or not, whether to maintain or stop sanctions. It’s all collusion. All those who oppose nuclear weapons also have nuclear weapons. In other words, he considers what he sees right to himself as a crime to others. In a word, this is hypocrisy. The weapons used in the mass destruction of humanity are not small and large; chemical, nuclear difference cannot be said. Both are tools of genocide and are used as such.
Yes, the silence of the states is understandable, but the silence of the people, peoples, intellectuals, politicians and artists cannot be understood. Especially the silence of liberal and democratic forces and sections is incomprehensible. We are not talking about something simple, we are talking about the chemical used for the destruction of humanity. We cannot approach it casually and normalize it. While the guerrillas are fighting for our freedom and our future against the fascist genocidal Turkish state, we must not remain silent. History does not forgive us in Dersim, in Halabja, nor in Zap, Avaşîn and Metina. Undoubtedly, the resistance and struggle carried out in these areas will be the presence of the guerrilla and the absence of the fascist chief Erdoğan and his AKP. But we cannot turn a blind eye to inhumane crimes. We have to set the agenda everywhere. The crimes committed by the fascist Erdogan should not be left unaccounted for. Especially the Kurdish people and their politicians, intellectuals and artists should break the apocalypse every day in the streets and squares for this. If we are breathing a little in this world today, it is thanks to the guerrilla. The guerrilla has helped us as much as we breathe, it’s our turn to breathe for both the guerrilla and ourselves.
