KOBANE – People’s leader Abdullah Öcalan was captured on February 15, 1999, as a result of an international conspiracy. From that time until today, he has been fighting an unparalleled struggle in Imraliye grave under severe conditions of isolation.
People’s leader Abdullah Ocalan in 1979, when he entered Rojava Kurdistan, he first went to the village of Pelur, which is 5 km west of the city of Kobanê. When the People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan stays there, he organizes the surrounding community. That is why Kobanê has become one of the most important and valuable places in the history of the Kurdish people and Kurdistan. He organized himself from Kobanê on that basis, and during the attacks of the ISIS gangs, with his will power, it was named the Fortress of Resistance, and he started his organizational activities. In the 20 years of the work that People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan has done in Syria, education and knowledge of the society is the basis for all the work. On that society, deprived of everything and falling into the clutches of genocide, Dinaliya woke up again from the sleep of death and with great patience rehabilitated it with education.
The work of People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, today only the people of Kobanê and the entire people of Rojava Kurdistan can wage an unparalleled war against the brutality of the ISIS gangs. The international conspiracy against the People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan has been going on for 23 years and is entering the 24th year. In this context, our agency took the views and evaluation of the families and mothers who stayed with People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan. One of the mothers who first saw the People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan is Emine Eloş. Emine Eloş stated that People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan made a promise for the freedom of the Kurdish people and today he is fighting for the fulfillment of this promise for 50 years.
“My name is Emine Eloşe, I am from the city of Kobanê and I am the daughter of Kobanê. The Chairman (Abdullah Ocalan) came in 1979, it was in the 10th month. There used to be a cousin of my father’s, he used to come and go to our house, but we never understood why he came and went so much. Then one day we saw that people came to us and brought a group of friends with them, we realized then that they were PKK, we saw that they were talking about the Kurdish cause. After some time, we saw that the Chairman also came, but we still didn’t know that it was him, he was in a group of friends, he always went to see my brother. When he came to our yard, we were on one side and my brother was on the other side. When the Chairman went in, he was very polite, he always put out his cigarette, we always said that this friend was very rich, but we didn’t know who he was. He went to Aleppo for a while and went to my sister’s house in Aleppo, stayed at my sister’s house for 10 days and then went to Damascus to my brother Omar’s house. In this way, the movement started there, and after that the departure and arrival of the Chairman took place. There was a Palestinian who always brought Palestinian identification cards, in order to use them to enter Aleppo and Damascus.
Even today, we enjoy this movement. Because of what the Chairman has done, there are many great things. Before, when we were going to school, we did not dare to say that we were Kurds. During the Newroz festival, as long as our young men went to a place to light a fire, they either got injured or killed, or were arrested. However, after the Chairman came, great changes were made and great steps were taken, and we were happy with this. That is, after the Chairman came, we took big steps and we had a presence, we now celebrate our Newroz with our own will.
He was very concerned about betrayal, he always said that our old revolutions failed through betrayal, so he was very concerned about betrayal. In fact, the Chairman had a great impact on us and all the Kurds. For example, in the past, we could not have girls and boys standing next to each other and talking to each other, there was no such thing, but when the Chairman came, there were no more such things.
There was a friend, he said, before when we came to Kobanê, they would talk to us from behind the doors, now the doors of the houses in Kobanê are wide open to us. Leader Apo always wants to get the woman out of the man’s oppression. In our last conversation with the Leader, the Leader talked to us about women, and I said to the Leader, ‘We are under the ground alive, my Leader,’ and the Leader said to me, ‘Get out yourself, if there is an obstacle in front of you, hit them’. One of our relatives said, ‘Leader, what have you done?’ The leadership said to him, ‘No, that’s what I’m telling you.’ Then I said that our people misunderstood this. The Leadership always used to say, get out and don’t be under slavery. That’s why we say that the steps we take are big steps, not few.”
The truth is that the Chairman was not doing anything for himself, he was doing it for the people, that is, all his work was to save the oppressed people and oppression of women. What the Chairman did to all of us, to Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen and Assyrians, he did not limit himself to the Kurdish people. That’s why we have to take big steps and take care of this work that has been given. No matter how much I talk, I can’t fully define it, because the Chairman took very big and valuable steps for the entire people.”
