LONDON – Şehîd Fîraz Dağ Youth Commune (TCŞ/TekoJIN) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Rojava revolution at the Kurdish Community Centre in North London. The programme began with a commemoration of the eight internationalist martyrs of Britain: Ş. Hêlîn Qereçox, Ş. Soro Zinar, Ş. Canşêr Zagros, Ş. Berxwedan Givara, Ş. Givara Rojava, Ş. Kemal, Ş. Şoreş Amanos and Ş. Fîraz Dağ.
Beginning with a minute of silence for all martyrs of the revolution, a short film was screened which highlighted the struggles of Britain’s martyrs in Rojava and the history of the Rojava revolution.
Speeches were made on behalf of TCŞ, PYD, Londra Kürt Halk Meclisi Şehit Aileleri Komisyonu, KCDK-E Başur, HBDH, Kongra Star, Kurdistan Solidarity Network and Women Defend Rojava, which emphasised the hope which the revolution in Rojava provides local peoples and the world in its organisational and societal practice of democratic confederalism, otherwise known as the Third Way. The need to heighten the struggle and organise in Britain against NATO-Turkish state fascism in Kurdistan and the Middle East featured many of the remarks made by speakers.
19 July also marks the anniversary of the Spanish revolution, which saw the uprising of workers against state fascism in Spain. One speaker emphasised the connections between revolutions in history which altogether demonstrate the need for greater internationalism in revolutionary movements and the struggle for freedom and democracy.
The programme came to an end with dance and live music by Koma Zelal.
