The full speech of the Spokesperson of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Farhad Shami is as follows;
“Nowadays, there is always a question about the role of the youth in society, what is the role and mission of the youth, that is, there are always discussions about the youth, politics and revolution. Even in some countries, it is a matter of controversy that one ruling class and another class of youth , but the situation is different in Kurdistan. Especially when you go back to the beginning of the revolution, then everyone looked at the youth with a different view. It seems like this type of act is not disrespectful to the youth, the youth cannot do politics without rules. It even happened in some places. They said that the youth are fighting for power. In all states, the youth are used as armor in front of the government. Especially in Syria, the DAESH regime used the youth against the society to maintain its power. The youth were only used as soldiers and resources of the state, such as that they were raising the children of DAESH. However, the revolution that occurred in Rojava Kurdistan changed the way of thinking about the youth, even in some Arab countries, especially in Tunisia, Egypt and Yemen. young people have been able to overcome those misconceptions. However, these hegemonic states, the authorities who are recognized as the ones who make changes to the society, want the youth because of this and they always want to bring the youth under their control.
Let’s note that in Tunisia, the one who ignited the spark of freedom was young, in Egypt, those who took to the streets to make changes were young. In Syria, the first movement that started was the youth movement. Youth coordination was established in Himes, Deraa and Hama. However, because those young people did not have the power, experience and politics, they again came under the service of the system and the state used them for themselves. As a result, this movement of the young people became a pain against the people of Syria.
The youth of Rojava Kurdistan, especially the Kurdish youth, among them the youth of the freedom movement, had a difference, because all the Kurdish youth have been leaders, they have politics. They were the example of the communities that prevented the attacks of the occupying states with their strength. The youth of Rojava Today, Kurdistan has become the clearest and purest example of all the young people of the Middle East. That is why today a special attack of extermination has been launched on the young people in Rojava. Even now, within the Kurdish society, such attacks on the young people continue without interruption. does.
When the Revolutionary Youth Movement was established in the revolution, its goal was to organize and educate the youth in their society. Therefore, in 2011 and 2012, the work of the youth increased. Of course, it It was a difficult time, because it was just the beginning. After that, he gradually built other institutions. However, those who took the lead were always young. Through the efforts of young people, many institutions were opened and organized. Through the revolutionary youth, the lands of this country were protected.
In the early days, there were many dangers, nobody knew how to prevent this process, but the young revolutionaries took their place in the front line without hesitation. That’s why the first martyrs who were given were all young. , were revolutionary youths. In 2012, they were the youths who selflessly resisted the Free Army in Serekani. The gangs did not believe that they would be able to fight against these youths. Because they said that all these youths However, our war was not a war of age, it was a war of will. Those who came to fight against the youth were all older and experienced gangs. There are 12,000 martyrs in the military institutions, half of these martyrs are young people. Young people naturally do their duty. they stand up and defend their country. The youth were fearless and fearless, they only thought about the development of the revolution. The youth became one of the purest institutions of this revolution. He led all the youth in the institutions of Culture and Art, YPG, YPJ and YXG. That’s why the authorities treat young people as a threat see One can say that when the Turkish state gave place to the Revolutionary Youth Movement in Kobanê, it is because of this.”
