NEWS CENTER – The revolution in Rojava, which took place on June 19, 2012 under the influence of the uprisings that have also gone down in history as the “Arab Spring”, is a revolution that has its foundation in the work and effort of Chairman Abdullah Öcalan , who came to Syria in 1979 and has been constantly educating and organizing the people of Rojava ever since. But this revolution is also based on the energy, the work and the sacrifice that the youth has made and is making to this day in order to protect the revolution and to build and develop an alternative to the capitalist, fascist and male system of rule.
This revolution went down in history with its strength and determination in the resistance against the brutal mercenary gangs IS, which were supported by the Turkish occupying state and gained worldwide fame. A revolution that is renewed and alive every day
“From the spring of 2011, the people of the Middle East countries rose up. Some rose up and said it was the Spring of the Peoples, others said it was the Arab Spring. The people rose up against the governments of their countries and started fighting. In some countries, the clashes turned into a long-lasting civil war. One of these countries is Syria. But the Kurds who are in Rojava acted in a different way. On June 19, 2012, the people of Rojava started the revolution. This revolution started in Kobanê. Without bloodshed, the people took over the government. In a short time, a government of the people was elected. In Rojava, everything was prepared and so the people’s assemblies and the self-defense forces took action. It was an alternative against the regime. Because this was not the case in other countries, blood was shed and the clashes continued oh years on. The situation in Rojava was the opposite. In a short time, the popular assemblies, the Self-Defense Forces and the government went to work.
Later, the cantons were elected and a new system was created. A system was ready in which all components of Rojava could be found. There is no doubt that women and youth have taken the lead in this work. They took their place both in the duty of defense and in the administration of the revolution. But this revolution did not agree with the calculations of the Turkish state and they immediately brought their gangs into action. They started with dirty plans against the Rojava revolution. The attacks began in Serekaniyê and Kobanê. The most serious attack occurred on September 15, 2014 in Kobanê. At that time, Erdogan sent IS gangs there.
With Kobanê, the name and glory of the Rojava Revolution also entered the world agenda. The youth of Rojava and Kurdistan took action to end the attacks. Thousands of young people made their way to Kobanê to defend it. Back then, young people flocked to Rojava not recognizing the borders of the invaders. Kobanê became the voice of the Rojava revolution and not only from Kurdistan and Turkey, but also from European countries to America and Canada, young internationalists went to the center of the revolution. As the revolution grew, so did participation in that revolution. There was now a place where young people could find refuge from occupation and imperialism. The revolutionary dreams of youth have now been realized in Rojava.
Even after Kobanê, the operations of the YPG, YPJ and SDF continued. Historic steps were taken in Tabqa, Manbij, Raqqa and Derazor. Those young people who took their place in the revolution ended the existence of ISIS. They also assumed their duty to protect Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî. Rojava became a place where the revolution of the century took place. The followers of Ernesto Che Guevara, Mahir Çayan and Deniz Gezmîş found themselves in Rojava. The thoughts and ideas of Rêber Apo paved the way for this revolution. There was now an anti-capitalist system in the world and this caught the attention of youth worldwide. Now those childhood dreams have come true.
The revolution that began in Rojava on July 19 also had a major impact on the region. Now there was a place where the youth take their place at the end of this revolution and sacrificed their souls for the revolution. From Arabs to Syrians, from Armenians to Turks, many people took their place in the revolution. This revolution now belongs to everyone. Just as Kobanê became the victory of all revolutionaries in the world, Rojava also became the revolution of the peoples. From administrations to self-defence, from councils to communes, all structures have their place. This revolution is not only for Kurds and Kurdistanis. A revolution that is renewed and alive every day. Just as youth led the way in the beginning, that leadership continues today. The dreams of the youth movement and its revolution are being realized in Rojava. Thanks to these young revolutionaries and internationalists, the name of Rojava resonates around the world. This revolution is always alive and renewed. That also comes from the spirit of youth. These young people, following the ideas of Rêber Apo, are making the revolution in Rojava today. This revolution belongs to every young revolutionary, every young revolutionary and internationalist. Participation in this revolution will keep the youth alive forever.”
