BEHDÎNAN – Today is the anniversary of the fall of Zeynep Kınacı (Zîlan). With her self-sacrificing commitment to the Turkish occupying state and its army as a Kurdish woman, Zîlan gave the male system of rule a meaningful lesson and with her action gave the oppressed people and the freedom movement an important signal. The guerrillas of HPG and YJA Star, fighting against the occupying Turkish state on every inch of Kurdistan land, continue the values created by Heval Zilan on the line of sacrifice and resistance.
The two guerrilla fighters of the YJA Star Ekin Van and Şayan Botan spoke to the news channel ANF about today’s historic date, the anniversary of commander Zilan’s significant Fedai action.
The guerrilla fighter Ekin Van explained that Şehid Zîlan’s action was the answer to the trial at the time and has lost nothing of its topicality to this day. She explains:
“Şehid Zîlan created the lineage of fedai and heroism in our PKK movement. The lineage created by Zîlan continues to this day. The greatest example is the war in Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna, in particular the actions and struggles of the YJA Star guerrillas symbolize the resistance spirit of Zîlan, Egît, Mazlum and Beritan.
We owe the existence of the resistance and the struggle against the fascist forces to Rêber Apo and all fallen comrades in the person of Şehid Zîlan. The action of Heval Zîlan was a breath of fresh air for the women and the enslaved Kurdish people. We cannot separate the war that is taking place in this process from the process in which comrade Zîlan became active. Because the attacks of the enemy against the Kurdish people and the PKK in 1996 continue in the same way. We respectfully commemorate the actions carried out in the spirit of Zîlan and the comrades who fell in these actions. We also promise; As Zîlan’s comrades, we will be the answer to the process.
WE WILL FIGHT WITH THE SPIRIT OF ZİLAN
Şayan Botan explained that the guerrillas in Avaşîn, Metîna and Zap are fighting against the invading attacks of the Turkish state with the spirit of resistance of Zîlan and made clear:
“Today there are thousands of guerrillas who became Zîlan in the mountains of Kurdistan. The line of resistance created by Heval Zîlan continues from generation to generation, as do those of Arin and Awzem. The actions and the results are indeed the continuation of the spirit of resistance created by Zîlan. As a YJA star guerrilla, I continue my fight with the spirit of Zîlan. We will respond to enemy attacks with the spirit of Zîlan. This chain of resistance will never be broken. I salute my hevals fighting the enemy in the positions.”
