BEHDINAN – In the invasion attacks launched by the Turkish army against Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn on April 14, 2022, the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas carried out resistances that are rarely seen in history. One of these resistance areas was the Martyr Berxwedan battle position, which was affiliated to the Martyr Şahin Resistance Area, which the Turkish state had been trying to occupy and settle in for about two months.
In this position, a group of guerrillas under the command of Bager Gever and Avzem Çiya rooted out the Turkish army, which was equipped with all kinds of modern warfare techniques, howitzers, helicopters and planes for 47 days from the day the war started, in accordance with the guerrillaism of the age. The guerrillas, who did not stay in a defensive position, dealt heavy blows to the Turkish soldiers many times.
One of the actions in which Turkish soldiers were routed took place on May 29, 2022. After the action in which 4 Turkish soldiers died, the guerrillas took every possible risk and went to the funerals of the soldiers. HPG and YJA Star guerrillas seized the bodies of 2 Turkish soldiers and a large number of military equipment and weapons that day.
THEY THROW THEIR DEAD SOLDIERS THROUGH THE CLIFF
On the other hand, the guerrillas in the Martyr Şahin Resistance Area found that they threw the dead Turkish soldiers off the cliff so that their bodies would not fall into their hands. On behalf of the guerrilla group on the 35th day of the resistance at the Martyr Berxwedan war position, guerrilla commander Bager Gever made a detailed assessment over the radio about the course of the war, and gave the following information:
“Today, it is not the Turkish state that is fighting us, it is NATO’s technology and chemical weapons that are fighting us. Enemy soldiers are trying to protect themselves from attacks with all kinds of technology, and because they do not have the courage to enter the war tunnels, they attack the tunnels with heavy explosives and send animals with bombs attached. They are throwing their own corpses off the cliff and they have no strength left to fight. We are very curious about what devices the enemy will try to attack us with from now on.”
THEY USED CHEMICALS THAT ARE ACTIVE WHEN MOVING
Guerrilla Bager Gever, who stated that they are in a great resistance against all kinds of attacks by the Turkish army on Martyr Şahin Hill, said the following regarding the dirty war methods used by the invading army: “They have used chemical weapons many times until now, and these gases stick to the tunnels, when they move, they reappear. they become active. These gases stick to the hair and clothes of our friends, we have documented this situation.”
Bager Gever, who stated that they received the greetings sent to them, expressed their belief in victory as follows: “We receive the greetings of our friends and this makes us very happy, we will try to be worthy of these greetings. We state once again; The winner of this war is already clear, and we feel closer to the Leader than ever before. In advance, we wish the guerrilla’s victory a blessed one to all our friends, our people and our Leader.”
“THEY DID NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT BAZÊN ZAGROSÊ”
The guerrilla commander, Bager Gever, prepared a video message recorded by another guerrilla in difficult conditions in the war tunnels. Bawer Gever, who stated that Turkish soldiers could not move from the places they landed from the air since April 17, 2022, said, “The fact that they named this attack ‘Claw-Lock’ once again shows the importance of Zap, because according to them, Zap is the lock of the whole region, they came with such enthusiasm. But it seems that they did not take into account the Bazên Zagrosê (Zagros Falcons). They were caught in the clutches of Bazên Zagrosê and they have taken a huge blow so far,” he said.
Pointing out that the Turkish army uses different gases, especially chemical weapons, Bager Gever continued: “Because of these, the guerrilla has difficulty in breathing, gets a headache or has a fast heartbeat. Despite this, the guerrilla, using his mind and creativity, frustrates the enemy. We will do our best for our party and our people. Because that is what is required of us. We promise all our fallen friends to achieve victory one by one and to continue this culture of resistance.”
GUERILLA AVZEM: THE ENEMY IS IN FEAR
Avzem Çiya, who was in the same position, stated that the enemy they were fighting was very cowardly and lacked all moral values. Guerrilla Avzem Çiya said that if Turkish soldiers did not use chemical weapons, they would not be able to stay in the field even for a day, “They can show up right after using chemical weapons, which is an indication of how cowardly they are and how they trust chemicals. If they were not deprived of humanity and conscience, they would not have sent the dogs to the war tunnels, they would have come and fought us.”
Reminding that they realized that the Turkish soldiers were terrified when the weather was dark due to fog and clouds, guerrilla Avzem continued: “Because then the superiority of the weather conditions passes to us, they know this very well and they begin to fear death. Only when they see the land in the open air do they think they are strong. On the contrary of the enemy, the last thing a guerrilla fears is death, because when a guerrilla joins his ranks he has already calculated everything. We have a big word and victory will be ours.”
THEY WERE FOUR OF THE ZAP RESISTANCE…
HPG BİM announced on 21 June 2022 that four guerrillas fighting in the Martyr Berxwedan battle position; Bager Gever (Erkan Dara), Avzem Çiya (Bêrîvan Cuma), Arîn Kobanê (Emira Musa) and Şerzan Hingirvan (Serkan Uçkun) were martyred on 2 June.
It was stated that the guerrillas decided to change their positions after the scarce means at their disposal were exhausted, but after all four guerrillas sent their friends, they fought heroically in the style of self-defense action and after punishing 12 Turkish soldiers, they were martyred. HPG likened the heroism of the guerrillas Bager, Avzem, Arîn and Şerzan on Martyr Şahin Hill to the action of Ferhat Kurtay, Eşref Anyık, Mahmut Zengin and Necmi Öner, who set the body on fire in the Amed dungeon in 1982 and went down in Kurdish history as “The Four”.
