BEHDINAN – Here they go. They are going as hearts dedicated to writing the free life of a new generation, the history of the liberation of a people. They are leaving with the oath of liberation of their country from the colonizer on their shoulders. They are walking on fertile soil watered with sweat and blood.
When a guerrilla can’t sit still, when he is distracted and smiling, when he thinks he is singing, but in fact his voice comes out in the form of shouting, you know that he is on the eve of action. That guerrilla group is either on its way to action or to a battlefield. The field of action becomes the stage for the meeting of swelling hearts.
Guerrilla Newal tells the camera what is in his heart as he prepares for the action, as he sets off for the Kurojahro Resistance Zone. He looks at the camera, but he addresses his people, his comrades. He walks as if this is not his last moment, but a sign that everything is just beginning. The language of the guerrilla is always clear and simple. He is always aware of the historical responsibility of the task he has taken and must fulfill. In fact, he knows that everyone has duties to fulfill, not just himself. Here are Newal’s words: “Operations have started in many places. Everyone knows that we are fully committed to the guerrilla and our leadership. The morale and enthusiasm of the friends is high. We cannot remain silent while they slaughter Kurds. The occupying Turkish army will not win no matter what they do. They use chemicals because they know they will lose. The guerrilla does not end, it will always exist and win.”
There is a notebook in their pockets, there is a heart with a cliff, with its hand on the trigger to weave the future. The guerrilla is fighting against the mentality of a state that doesn’t even bother to take the bodies of its own soldiers and throws them off the cliffs in black bags.
Words are strung together, each one choosing its own hero to tell, just like war. Zap also chooses its own heroes and turns them into lines.
