ROJAVA – Shared in the vimeo account of the Internationalist Commune of Rojava, another statement and call was made by the 26 internationalists that were trying to cross towards Rojava in the Autonomous Region of Northeast Syria. The statement can be read as it follows:
“We stand here as the first Internationalist Working brigade coming from many countries across the world, we came to offer practical solidarity with the revolutionary society in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, also known as Rojava. We arrived in southern Kurdistan and travelled to the border at the Pashabor crossing. The crossing is currently controlled by the KDP, which is the ruling party in southern Kurdsitan.Turkey has installed an embargo on the Autonomous Administration and the KDP is collaborating in it’s enforcement. Because of this, KDP border officers blocked our passage to the Autonomous Administration.
We condemn Turkey’s embargo and KDP’s complicity, which target the civilian population of North and East Syria. We also condemn Turkey’s war of aggression against the freedom movement in Kurdsitan. It is abhorrent that other NATO states are silent and complicit in the face of Turkish war crimes, like using chemical weapons. It is inexcusable to deliver weapons to Turkey and criminalise the PKK as a favour to the fascist Turkish state. This must end. We demand open borders and the end of the embargo. NATO and the EU must end the ban on the PKK, stop supporting fascist Turkeu, and stop persecuting revolutionary activists around the world.
We call on all internationalists and democratic people of the world to support the Revolution and to struggle for peace in Kurdistan. We commit to further actions to break the embargo. For this purpose, there will be a second Internationalist Working Brigade next month to follow our steps and as many as are needed to break the embargo. Despite the fact we were stopped, we did not fail. This is just one part of the immense struggle against fascism, militarism and patriarchy. We will never stop our efforts to build a free life. Serkeftin! (Success)”
