Hacı Esvet Şenyaşar and his sons, have been running the “Istanbul Ucuzluk Pazarı” store in the shopping district behind the Pirsûs Municipality on Bir Milyoncu Street for 25 years.
AKP candidate Yıldız goes to the store during his campaign tour in the cityof Hacı Esvet Şenyaşar and calls for his vote. Şenyaşar declared that he would not vote for the AKP.
Hacı Esvet Şenyaşar has been under pressure from AKP members for days as a result.
June 14, 2018
10 days before the elections, AKP candidate İbrahim Halil Yıldız goes to Şenyaşar family’s store again around 3:30 p.m. with his relatives and armed bodyguards. Again, Şenyaşar and his sons declare that they do not vote for AKP.
The brothers Adil, Celal and Ferit Şenyaşar are then attacked by AKP candidate Yıldız and his companions using pistols and long guns.
Tradesman whose store is adjacent to the Şenyaşar store:
“The AKP candidate’s companions punched our colleague in the face and the discussion became more heated. Suddenly, shots were fired. Celal and Adil tried to protect themselves with sticks and knives. All this happened in front of the police. Plainclothes officers looked on. It was hardly possible to take the injured to the hospital.”
Hacı Esvet Şenyaşar’s two sons, Adil and Celal Şenyaşar, who were injured in the attack, were taken to the emergency room of Pirsûs State Hospital.
The third son, Ferit, was taken to Balıklıgöl State Hospital in the center of Riha, the provincial capital.
At the instigation of the AKP candidate, relatives of İbrahim Halil Yıldız first destroyed the surveillance cameras at the hospital and then murdered one of Hacı Esvet Şenyaşar’s sons in the hospital’s emergency room. Another son was murdered in front of the Pirsûs State Hospital.

“Esvet Şenyaşar had come to the hospital on foot. In the entrance area of the emergency room marked in yellow, members of the Yıldız family tried to lynch Esvet Şenyaşar and hit him several times on the head with an oxygen bottle. His skull was crushed and his blood splattered on the wall of the emergency room. There was cleaning and painting going on into the night. I also saw that the ER surveillance cameras were destroyed and around 2:00 a.m. the prosecutor came to the hospital.”

On June 15, Hacı Esvet Şenyaşar passed away while his sons were buried in Pirsûs.
After the gruesome killings in Pirsûs, the Turkish state media reacted as if from one mouth by blaming the PKK.

Fadıl Şenyaşar survived seriously injured. Shortly after he was released from the hospital, he was arrested by the police in Amed and has been in custody ever since.

After the Şenyaşar family’s years-long struggle for clarification and justice, mother Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar begin a vigil for
Justice in front of the courthouse in Riha that continues to this day.

Today, four years after the murder of the Şenyaşar family members, the family remains determined to keep fighting until Fadıl Şenyaşar is free and the killers have been punished.
Their fight for justice is far from over….
