The Network for International Friendship call for participation in international labor brigades states:
“Ten years ago, on July 19, 2012, the people of Rojava in northeastern Syria began to take power and liberate their country to build a society based on the values of democracy, ecology and women’s liberation. In an area where war has been going on for decades, he became our beacon of hope for an alternative life away from the state, oppression and violence.
Since then, the revolution has been constantly threatened mainly by the Turkish state, supported by the imperialist forces. The war waged by the Turkish army and the collaborating KDP, a major power in the KRG, against the Kurdish freedom movement in the mountains has reached its peak with extensive use of chemical gases and daily drone strikes.
Rojava itself faces artillery strikes and drone killings every day, while Turkey announces the next invasion of our territory by its armed forces and jihadist mercenaries, as they have already done in Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî. The aim of our enemies is not only to occupy Rojava, but to destroy the Kurdish liberation movement and with it the hope for an alternative life, the idea of socialism in the 21st century. So that we accept that there is no life but capitalist exploitation and oppression. That there is no self-determination for people if you don’t play by their rules. So it’s not just an attack against the Kurdish people and the people of Rojava, but against all the people around the world who believe that another world is possible. It’s an attack to destroy our hope. To achieve that, our enemies are trying to isolate us from each other, to separate our struggles, and Rojava itself has been under an embargo for almost ten years, and all bordering countries are building walls around Rojava to cut us off from the rest of the world.
Our response to this must be internationalism. Only with the brotherhood and sisterhood of peoples, with international solidarity, with democratic autonomy, with women’s liberation and in unity with our country and its ecology, can we defend this revolution and be able to break the isolation that Rojava was built. Today, with the announcement of a new Turkish invasion, it is more important than ever to stand together as internationalists to defend the gains of the revolution! In a time of climate crisis, war and genocide, it is our responsibility and duty to defend these values.
We call on you, democrats, socialists, revolutionaries, internationalists and truth seekers around the world, to come to Rojava as part of the labor brigades to defend the revolution and unite our struggles. Build a free community life.
Together we will defend Rojava and make the anniversary of the revolution the year we will lead the revolution to victory.
We have prepared a 21-day program in which you will get to know Rojava and its important and meaningful places, see different types of workshops and education, put solidarity into practice by working in cooperatives and local villages and the economic and political embargo against Rojava break!”
