BEHDINAN – Describing the level of attack against the Kurdish people’s freedom struggle, Karasu said, “There is almost not a single square meter that has not been bombed. The sum of the bombs dropped by the Turkish state in Kurdistan, especially in recent years, is more than the sum of the bombs dropped in World War I and World War II and Vietnam in the 20th century. The Turkish state uses many times more chemical weapons and poisonous gases than Saddam used. No one should see this as an exaggeration,” said Karasu, a member of the KCK Executive Council. “The use of chemical weapons by NATO’s second largest army is NATO’s use of weapons. For this reason, the US and Europe, which are sensitive about chemical weapons elsewhere and raise hell, ignore these crimes committed by NATO member Turkey. Thus, they are trying to cover up their complicity,” he said.
Stating that the guerrilla resisted all these attacks sacrificially on the basis of the changes it created in its war style, Karasu said, “The current style is a style of war that cannot be defeated if it is carried out with a sacrificial spirit. The forces that want to advance and enter the area are hit every day and every hour with the air defense made with heavy and continuous bombardments. The occupying genocidal forces are being liquidated piece by piece. The aggression of the enemy’s land power has been broken, “he said.
Pointing out that the more the Turkish state is squeezed, the more the KDP is involved in the war, Karasu said, “Some promises may have been made to the KDP, but the PKK hostility of the KDP is as deep as the PKK hostility of the Turkish Republic. The KDP’s collaboration and betrayal at this level should be sought in its mentality. The KDP is now an organization that acts only in the interests of one family. For it, Kurdishness is only a marketing issue. We can no longer soften collaboration and betrayal in the name of nationalism. The best answer to such attitudes was given by the woman from Bashûrê Kurdistan who raised the Mekap in London and hit the betrayal in the face.”
The following is the part of our two-part interview with KCK Executive Council Member Mustafa Karasu on the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the Zap-Metîna-Avaşîn war and the KDP:
The isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan continues. Under the name of disciplinary penalties, all requests for meetings are denied. How do you evaluate the ongoing isolation and the struggles to break the isolation?
Rêber Apo is not just any political prisoner. In 1973, he raised the flag of rebellion against the genocidal colonialist Turkish state. However, this rebellion started with great anger against genocidal colonialism and was a conscious and willful rebellion. Rêber Apo revealed this process in his book From the First Rebellion to the People’s War. Rêber Apo’s personality is one of rebellion against all kinds of evil. This personality of rebellion has continued and continues to this day by deepening in consciousness. The national policy and national strategy of the Turkish state is to turn Kurdistan into an expansion area for Turkish nationalization. The biggest crime in Turkey is to stand against this. Yesterday they defined this as taking action against the indivisibility of the homeland and the nation. Now they have put it under the concept of “terror”, which better camouflages genocidal colonialism. Because decades of struggle have revealed that the purpose of this concept is to express genocide. It became clear that the PKK’s struggle was the Kurdish struggle for existence and freedom against genocide.
THERE IS A FIERCE STRUGGLE AGAINST GENOCIDAL COLONIALISM
The Turkish state shows Rêber Apo the enmity it has never shown to anyone, to any state, because he started a revolt against genocide, exposed the genocidal reality of the Turkish state, raised the awareness of the Kurdish people, organized them and led them to struggle. They said that we abolished the death penalty, but he will be executed every day. They said that we have established such a system that he will rot there. Hikmet Sami Türk said that no power can take Apo out of there. Tayyip Erdoğan said that as long as I live, he cannot get out of there. If there is no change of mentality in the Turkish state, this enmity will continue. As long as the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom continues, a different attitude towards Rêber Apo cannot be expected. As long as the Kurdish problem is not solved on a democratic basis, a different attitude cannot be expected. The leadership is aware of why he is under so much pressure and isolation. He has already stated that there are special laws and practices against him.
Personalized laws are being applied to Rêber Apo in a way unprecedented in the world. Just as Turkey’s constitution is essentially a single article aimed at Kurdish denial, the practices against Rêber Apo are similar. This is why family and lawyer visits are denied on trumped up grounds.
There is currently a fierce struggle against genocidal colonialism. In this respect, they will not allow a single sentence of Rêber Apo to go out. They are already imposing pressure on Rêber Apo. And Rêber Apo rejects them. He says that he will not accept anything that does not serve the democratic solution of the Kurdish question and that he will not take any steps. In short, a struggle is going on in İmralı. Of course, our people and our Freedom Movement also continue this struggle.
PHYSICAL FREEDOM IS ACHIEVED BY DEVELOPING THE STRUGGLE IN EVERY FIELD
Undoubtedly, the breaking of the isolation, the freedom of Rêber Apo and the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom are intertwined. The struggle against isolation, the struggle for the freedom of Rêber Apo and the struggle for the freedom of the Kurdish people continue in different ways and methods under their own conditions. However, they are not struggles to be treated independently of each other. It is important to develop all methods of struggle for the end of isolation and the physical freedom of Rêber Apo. The legal struggle is an important area of exposure. This gives legitimacy to the struggle and makes it effective. The struggle led by the British trade unions for the freedom of Rêber Apo is also very important. The struggles of the dungeons in 2018 and 2019 have strengthened the struggle against isolation and the struggle for Rêber Apo’s physical freedom. It is also important that the democratic political sphere, democratic organizations and individuals have recently put İmralı on the agenda and linked the freedom of Rêber Apo with the democratization of Turkey and the struggle they are waging. The June 12 march to Gemlik is also an important step for the agenda of Imrali and the physical freedom of Rêber Apo. We see these struggles as valuable, even if insufficient.
In addition to these struggles, physical freedom from isolation can be achieved by developing the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom in every field. Rêber Apo’s freedom will be achieved through the development of the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom. Rêber Apo told the Kurdish people to fight for their own freedom. In this respect, those who want the physical freedom of Rêber Apo must take an active part in the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom. If the struggle to break the isolation and ensure physical freedom is made effective through such a struggle, the isolation will be broken and Rêber Apo’s physical freedom will be achieved.
THERE ARE APPROACHES THAT DO NOT SEE THE LEVEL OF THE WAR SUFFICIENTLY
Since April 17, the invading Turkish army has been infiltrating through the areas under the control of the KDP and has been continuing its invasion attacks against Zap and Avashîn based on the use of intensive techniques. What is the level of attacks and guerrilla resistance?
HPG-BIM explains the attacks of the Turkish state and the resistance against them day by day. Most recently, Haki Armanc, one of the commanders of the People’s Defense Central Headquarters, gave important information about the current level of the war and made comprehensive evaluations. The People’s Defense Central Command gives a complete account of what happened in order for both our people and the world to know the level of the war. It wants to show everyone the magnitude and scope of the war by giving complete information about the casualties. Because there are still approaches that do not see the level of the war in Kurdistan sufficiently and do not show the necessary sensitivity.
THERE IS NOT A SINGLE SQUARE METER THAT HAS NOT BEEN BOMBED
It was known that the AKP-MHP fascist government would carry out such an attack. The guerrilla prepared accordingly. It prepared for the war by taking into account the positive aspects and inadequacies that emerged in last year’s war. While the positive aspects were strengthened, the focus was on how to overcome the inadequacies. Turning the mobile guerrilla and tunnels and positions into a holistic war style brought the guerrilla to meet the attacks more effectively.
The attacks of the Turkish army do not stop even for a single minute. In this attack concept, mainly unmanned aerial vehicles and warplanes are used. Unmanned warplanes and bombers are constantly in the air. Without these air strikes, the Turkish army cannot even take a step on the ground. Without these planes, the soldiers would not be able to defend themselves for an hour and would have to flee. Unmanned combat drones and airplanes are constantly bombing the resistance areas. There is almost not a single square meter that has not been bombed. The number of bombs used by the US in Vietnam was in the news for years. It was said to be the heaviest bombings in world history. We can easily say that the total number of bombs dropped by the Turkish state in Kurdistan, especially in recent years, is more than the total number of bombs dropped in World War I and World War II and Vietnam in the 20th century. No one should see this as an exaggeration. We can understand the level of attack against the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom very well from this. Right now Zap, Avashîn and Metîna are being bombed without a break. Although other guerrilla areas are not bombed with such intensity, they are constantly under attack by warplanes and UCAVs.
FAR MORE TOXIC GAS THAN SADDAM USED
The Turkish state’s air strikes and ground forces are helpless in the face of the growing resistance and increasing actions of the tunnels and mobile units, which support and protect each other. In the face of this situation, the resort to chemical weapons and poisonous gases is being resorted to. The Turkish state has used as many chemical weapons and poisonous gases as the total number of chemical weapons used so far, apart from the atomic bombs used in World War II. The Turkish state has used many times more chemical weapons and poisonous gases than the chemical weapons used by Saddam. The guerrilla is taking precautions with gas masks and other methods. However, it is used so intensively that it causes significant guerrilla casualties. The Turkish state is committing such a grave crime, yet it is turned a blind eye. The use of chemical weapons by NATO’s second largest army is NATO’s use of weapons. This is why the US and Europe, which are sensitive and raise hell about chemical weapons elsewhere, turn a blind eye to these crimes committed by NATO member Turkey. Thus, they are trying to cover up their complicity.
THE GUERRILLA IS A STYLE OF WAR THAT CANNOT BE DEFEATED
Against all these attacks, the guerrilla is sacrificially resisting on the basis of the changes it has created in its style of warfare. It is the Apoist sacrificial resistance that essentially leads the current style to success. The current style is a style of war that cannot be defeated if it is waged with a sacrificial spirit. The Apoist sacrificial spirit has become an invincible guerrilla with the mentality of Democratic Modernity. This guerrillaism has once again confirmed Rêber Apo’s thesis that the greatest technique is man. This sacrificial force is prepared for every kind of war. It sees the enemy attack and occupation as an opportunity to play its historical role. They are waging a struggle whose only thought is to defeat the enemy. Every day, every hour, the forces that want to advance and enter the area are struck by the air defense with heavy and continuous bombardments. The occupying genocidal forces are being liquidated piece by piece. The aggression of the enemy’s land force has been broken. It is being driven on the guerrilla with forced air power support and chemical weapons power. However, the blows struck by the guerrilla have made the Turkish officers, soldiers and gangs commanding this war desperate. However, Hulusi Akar, the defense minister of the AKP-MHP government, and the generals under his command insist on this war. This war is being waged for this government and the generals who act with it.
THE GOVERNMENT WILL CONTINUE THIS WAR UNTIL ITS COLLAPSE
This is not the first time that the Turkish Republic has turned to Zap; years ago it had launched attacks with similar calculations, but each time it was defeated. Most recently, in 2008, then Chief of the General Staff Yaşar Büyükanıt described their retreat as ‘we pulled our strength like a hair out of the back of our neck’. Why is the Turkish Republic taking such a risk again, why is Zap so important for them, what are they aiming for?
The attacks in this period are different from the attacks in 2008 and before. First of all, the political conditions have changed. The Turkish war against us has also become part of the 3rd World War centered in the Middle East. The Turkish state wants to take advantage of the conditions of World War 3 to crush the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom and complete the genocide. In the context of World War 1, it carried out the Armenian genocide. Now it wants to complete the Kurdish genocide in the dust of World War 3. On the other hand, with 2015, a government based on war and the creation of internal and external enemies has emerged in Turkey. Of course, the MHP’s being a ruling partner would be based on Kurdish enmity and war. These political forces have no other political projects. They already see democracy as an enemy for their own political ideas and programs. The MHP has only one political program, which is to create a great Turkic world called Turan on the basis of genocide of the Kurds. The AKP also has a religious mentality with no democratic tradition. Nationalism and religionism have a monist character. The meeting of these leads to a genocidal mentality. Under the AKP-MHP government, a Turkish-Islamic synthesis was formed. When the genocidal character of the Turkish state tradition and this mentality of the AKP-MHP fascist government meet, the enmity against democracy and Kurds has reached its peak. In order for the AKP-MHP fascist government to survive, it must be Kurdish-hostile and crush the forces of democracy. This government has no chance to live in any other way.
For this reason, all the means of Turkey have been applied to the war against the Kurds as if they were applied to a gambling table in order to keep the AKP-MHP fascist government alive. Diplomacy, economy, domestic politics, education, art, culture, culture and sports are all indexed to sustain the AKP-MHP government. It is really a gamble. From now on, this government will continue this war until its collapse. Since there are no political forces that want to exist or will exist in a democratic country on the basis of political struggle, such a war is the result of their character. No other policy can be expected from them.
ERDOĞAN, BAHÇELI, AKAR AND SOYLU ARE OUT OF BALANCE
The AKP-MHP government has no ideas and no political understanding on the economy, democracy or any other issue that it can put forward and get support for. That is why it is aiming for a victory, albeit a symbolic one. In 2021, it would go to the elections by capturing some areas in Garê, striking a blow to the guerrilla, taking prisoners to Turkey and making a show. So much so that Tayyip Erdoğan had said in advance that he would give good news on this day. He thought he was going to apply his war fantasies from the movies. But he suffered a great defeat. Then he tried to enter Metîna, Zap and Avaşîn, and failed again. On April 17th of 2022, those who failed in 2021 wanted to achieve results by launching an attack centered on Zap. This is why they called it Claw-Kilit. By opening the lock in Zap, they aimed to enter the entire area and then go to elections. However, this time they ran into the guerrillas. So much so that Erdoğan, Bahçeli, Akar and Soylu were thrown off balance. That is why they are attacking and accusing everyone. So much so that they attribute all their failures to the internal opposition and foreign powers. Of course, they cannot say that we could not win the war against the Freedom Movement and the forces of democracy, that we are exhausted. They were going to capture Zap and declare victory, but now they are suffering from Zap syndrome.
ENEMIES OF DEMOCRACY OUTSIDE TOO
Your movement defines the war in Zap and Avashîn as a war that also determines the future of other peoples in the region, especially Arabs. What is the significance of this war for the Kurds as well as the peoples of the region and what kind of consequences will it have?
Right now there are Kurds in the eastern and southeastern parts of Turkey. In a way, Kurdistan is neighboring the Arabs. There are Kurds on Turkey’s borders with Arab countries. Kurds are a buffer zone between Turkey and the Arab countries. You can also call it a barricade. By turning Kurdistan into an expansion area for Turkish nationalization, the Turkish state aims not only to reach Azerbaijan and Central Asia, but also to eliminate the Kurds, who are a problem for it in its orientation towards the Arab countries. On the other hand, Turkey is an enemy of democracy. In Turkey, enmity against Kurds and enmity against democracy are intertwined. The Kurds are hostile to democracy in order to benefit other communities. For this reason, it is hostile to democracy not only inside Turkey but also outside Turkey. For example, it is against the democratization of Syria on the basis of the solution of the Kurdish question. Turkey does not want democratization to develop in the Middle East. It is behind all reactionary and anti-democratic forces in the Middle East such as ISIS, al-Nusra and Ikhwan.
The AKP-MHP government is pursuing the interests of the Turkish state in Syria, the interests of the Turkish state in Iraq, the interests of the Turkish state in North Africa, the interests of Turkey in the Mediterranean, the Balkans and the Caucasus. Everyone must serve the interest of the Turkish state. This actually means that the Kurdish genocide should be condoned and the Turkish expansion policy, especially in the Middle East, should be supported.
Turkey is also an enemy of democracy with its hostility to the Kurds, the most fundamental democratic power in the Middle East. If it crushes the freedom struggle of the Kurds who resist against its racist, chauvinist and expansionist character, no one will be able to stand against its expansionism called neo-Ottoman. In this respect, our struggle as the Freedom Movement is the struggle of all democratic forces and peoples; it is the struggle for the freedom of all Middle Eastern women. All democratic forces, peoples and faith communities of the Middle East, especially women, must calculate what kind of Turkey will emerge if the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom is liquidated. We wanted the negative to be considered so that the meaning of our resistance could be well understood.
THE FACE OF THE MIDDLE EAST WILL CHANGE THE MOMENT THE FASCIST ATTACK IS BROKEN
The moment our Freedom Movement breaks these attacks carried out by the AKP-MHP fascist government, the face of not only Turkey but also the Middle East will change. Turkey will change the most. Turkey will become the striking democratic country of the Middle East based on the century-long accumulation of struggle of the forces of democracy. When the center of Middle Eastern reaction is neutralized, the doors of democracy in the Middle East will open wide. Peoples and beliefs in the Middle East will live together in brotherhood. Every people, every culture, every belief and every woman will live freely with their own identity and will. In this respect, everyone should know the meaning and value of the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom, which is the most effective struggle for the democratization of Turkey.
When Turkey is democratized on the basis of the freedom of the Kurdish people, a new era will begin in the Middle East. As Rêber Apo said, the Kurdish initiative will return and lead the Middle East to democratic civilization.
FOR THE KDP IT IS ALSO AN ATTACK TO KEEP THE POWER ALIVE
The encirclement of Zap is calculated and they are also attacking from Bashur. It seems that the KDP has been assigned a different role this time. It is trying to attack and besiege Metîna on behalf of the occupiers. Similarly, there are efforts to involve the village guards in the invasion attacks. In this context, discourses such as giving the rangers the status of expert sergeants are being used. How do the ongoing attacks on Zap and Avashîn differ from the occupation attacks last year? What kind of promises might have been made to Kurdish collaborators both in Bashur and Bakur?
As they repeat every day, they say they will get results from this invasion operation. This fascist government has been saying for years that they will crush wherever there are free Kurds. Because they know that their genocidal colonialist, expansionist mentality policies and systems will collapse in the reality of free Kurds. The reason why they are so hostile to Rêber Apo is that the paradigm he put forward will create the reality of a democratic free society. For this reason, they want to crush our Freedom Movement. They see this as a war for existence. In other words, they aim to keep their genocidal colonialist mentality and system alive on the death of the Kurds. In the last few years, they see their own end in Rêber Apo’s mentality and the struggle it has created. The impact of our struggle for freedom on the democratic forces and women of Turkey is pushing this government to the limit. This year’s attack is an attack to keep both the current mentality and power alive. As a matter of fact, they have mobilized all the enemies of freedom and democracy, seeing that our struggle will bring an end to all kinds of reactionary sovereignist mentality and policies. Especially the mobilization of the KDP and the village guards is on this basis. Since the KDP is completely detached from the people with its mentality and policies, it has based its existence on the AKP-MHP power. It thinks that if this power loses, it will also lose. The village guards are also afraid that if the AKP-MHP government loses and democratization develops, they will not be able to survive in Kurdish society because of what they have done so far.
KDP’S HOSTILITY TO THE PKK IS AS DEEP AS TC’S (Turkey)
Undoubtedly, they made some promises to the KDP and the village guards. Or the KDP calculates that if the PKK and the freedom struggle are liquidated, it will liquidate all political groups and establish complete hegemony over the Kurds. Since they lack a democratic mentality, they have no approach to living together with any Kurdish political power in an equal and democratic sense. The KDP’s economic relations with Turkey have also created such a dirty partnership. On April 17, the KDP launched an attack on the PKK, which they see as an attack to end the PKK, so this time the KDP has openly entered into this war. Some promises may have been made to the KDP, but the PKK enmity of the KDP is as deep as the PKK enmity of the Turkish Republic. Like the AKP-MHP government, the KDP sees its future in the liquidation of the Kurdish freedom struggle. The KDP’s level of collaboration and betrayal must be sought in its mentality. Otherwise, to look for other reasons for the KDP’s collaboration and betrayal would be to ignore this reality. The KDP did not adopt this attitude because of the mistakes made by the PKK or any other political power. The KDP is now an organization that acts only in the interests of one family. It does not have a Kurdish cause; it has become a power that only wants to gain profit over the Kurds. For it, Kurdishness is only a marketing issue. Since a genocidal colonialist power will not make any promises about the freedom and democratic life of the Kurds, if there are any promises made, it can only be for the benefit of this family and to maintain its domination over the Kurds. Genocidal colonialism has been in contact with the KDP since the 1960s in order to keep the Kurds under control. If in the 1960s, while the national liberation struggle was developing all over the world, there was no such development in Bakur; if Dr. Shivan and his friends were liquidated, this is the reason.
The more the Turkish state is squeezed, the more the KDP is involved in the war. It prevents the flow of ammunition and supplies to the guerrilla areas. By severing the relationship between the guerrilla forces, it narrows the field of action and prevents them from cooperating. The KDP is now taking steps beyond this, trying to narrow the siege and seize some guerrilla areas on behalf of the Turkish Republic. It is now taking steps to bring all kinds of support it gives to the Turkish Republic to such a stage. The HPG Command warned the KDP against this. The KDP is taking these steps on purpose. In this respect, mainly the people, women, youth and all patriotic political forces, intellectuals, writers and artists need to put a stop to such steps of the KDP. If these steps of the KDP cannot be prevented, the conflict with the KDP will not be limited to Metîna, Zap, Avaşîn, Heftanîn, but will spread to all guerrilla areas and their surroundings.
Recently, Kurds and their friends have been using the terms occupation and betrayal side by side in their actions and activities. They equate the treasonous position of the Kurdish collaborators with enmity. How do you evaluate this attitude? Do you have a call to the Kurdish people and neighboring peoples on this basis?
It is the most correct approach for the Kurdish people to reveal the role of betrayal in the recent occupation and to see it as similar to the Turkish state. Because at the current stage, making a call to the KDP or seeing it as separate from the Turkish state serves to cover up the KDP’s collaborationism and betrayal. Of course, it was a matter of national responsibility for us and our people to make such calls. However, there is no longer any point in telling the KDP to stop this collaborationism, stop this betrayal and unite with the Kurdish people and political forces. While the KDP has taken its collaboration and betrayal to this level, making calls and expressing expectations to the KDP will only serve to continue the collaboration and betrayal. On the other hand, such calls to the KDP create a perception as if the PKK or other Kurdish organizations have a share in the KDP’s adoption of these attitudes. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid such attitudes, to expose what the KDP is doing, what it is, and to stand against it.
If the YNK or the PKK had done what the KDP did, what would the Kurdish people and public opinion have said or how would they have reacted? Moreover, the KDP is not doing this new. The KDP played an active role in the liquidation of Kurdish organizations in Eastern Kurdistan by Iran. In 1997, it captured Hewlêr, which was under the control of the YNK, with the support of Saddam. In Hewlêr, which it captured with the support of Saddam’s troops, it brutally massacred dozens of PKK cadres, many of whom were veterans and sick. In Turkey, a NATO country, the KDP was used to prevent the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom from developing in the 1960s. The KDP liquidated the patriotic sectors within its own tribe and took over many other tribes through oppression and massacres. We cannot fully describe the KDP’s collaboration and betrayal with the enemy here. Even the writings of Ayoub Barzani, a member of his own family circle, provide a lot of data to understand the reality of the KDP.
We, as the Movement, have really made a lot of effort for the KDP to get out of this position. Although it has been involved in many negative situations, we have been patient and flexible so that the Turkish state would not use it more, so that it would not go further into the arms of the Turkish state. We did not take a clear stance against some of its betrayals. For example, this is how we approached the shooting down of hundreds of guerrillas with warplanes and UCAVs in the Behdinan area, especially in Garê and Metîna, in partnership with Mit-Parastin. However, the KDP did not give up these attitudes. The KDP has clearly based its policy on cooperation with the Turkish Republic. Therefore, it carries out all its policies on this axis. Together with the Turkish Republic, it wants to liquidate the biggest freedom movement and guerrilla in the history of Kurdistan.
The KDP, which left Sinjar without firing a single bullet and put the Yazidis under the genocidal knife of ISIS; leaving thousands of Yazidi women and children to be raped by ISIS, is now having the Yazidis shot by the Turkish Republic in Sinjar. It is also the KDP that wants Iraq to attack Sinjar and blackmails Iraq on this issue. The KDP has a hand in the massacre of Yazidis in Sinjar by Turkish attacks. It has a bloody hand in this matter.
WE CANNOT SOFTEN TREASON IN THE NAME OF NATIONALISM
It is the KDP that legitimizes the attacks and occupations on Rojava. Organizations and groups affiliated to the KDP neither oppose nor fight against these occupations in Rojava. They are still arm in arm with the occupying Turkish Republic and the gangs. Where has such patriotism been seen? This is called betrayal everywhere. In Kurdistan, the measures of betrayal and collaborationism have also been blurred or are being blurred by some circles. In fact, one of the most important reasons for the Kurds’ difficulties in the struggle for freedom and democracy is the blurring of collaborationism and betrayal, and even their normalization, as seen in the reality of the KDP.
The best response to such attitudes was given by the women of Bashûrê Kurdistan in London. She hit betrayal in the face by lifting the Mekap. Betrayal and collaborationism can now be prevented with these attitudes. We can no longer soften collaborationism and betrayal in the name of nationalism. This is not a national approach. It weakens the national freedom struggle. If the KDP has maintained this policy until now, the inadequacy of attitudes has also played an important role in this. If we want the KDP to abandon these attitudes, then we need to take a clear and open stance against what they are doing.
From this point of view, to include the KDP in the national unity and national congress would be to waste time and to turn a blind eye to the sabotage of such steps. The KDP has no interest in national unity. Its goal is to bring all political forces under its hegemony. From this point of view, it is necessary to think of Kurdish national unity without the KDP and to work for national unity with all political parties and organizations other than the KDP and the political forces under its influence. Because not carrying out such a work in such a historical period harms the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom in every field. The KDP’s mentality and policies that harm national unity can only be overcome in this way. Maybe then the patriotic tendencies within the KDP can take a stand against the negativities of the KDP and prevent the KDP’s mentality and policies that prevent national unity.
The attitude of the Kurdish people against collaborationism and betrayal is developing more and more every day. The Kurdish people should reveal this attitude more clearly with statements and actions. Neighboring peoples and democracy forces should also know that the PKK’s struggle for freedom is against collaborationism and betrayal in the Middle East. The Kurdish people and their struggle should not be evaluated by looking at organizations like the KDP. All Middle Eastern peoples and democratic forces must support the struggle led by the PKK to push back these political forces that harm not only the Kurds but also the peoples of the Middle East.
