NEWS CENTER – Internationalist delegation in South Kurdistan marched with the youth and the people of Bashur against the Turkish occupation, the treason and for free life! During the march they made the following statement:
“As part of the EU and through its role in the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe), the Austrian state also bears a share of responsibility for the war in Kurdistan,” explains Georg Bauer, one of the Viennese activist:s participating in the delegation. “Austria is involved in the criminalization of the Kurdish freedom movement and in the persecution of Kurdish activists because Austria supports the fact that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party is on the EU terror list. We want the PKK to be removed from the list. Because only a dialogue and peace negotiations can stop the war in Kurdistan.”
Two internationalist young woman that were present in the actions talked to our agency, they were both from the Basque Country as a group of internationalists of Euskadi went to Bashut to participate on the demonstration.
One of the young woman interviewed said: “I am from Euskadi, the Basque country, to support the struggle of the Kurdish people. We came as a group from the Basque country, that is oppressed from the Spanish state as well as the French state, they oppress the language, the culture of our people. And because of it there was an armed struggle in our history and it’s important to say that the internationalist struggle from Euskadi with Kurdistan is really important.
Not only to share what’s happening here, but also in a more theoretical way as we study it in our own educations the ideas and practices that are happening here. We have a lot of consideration from the ideas from here. In this way, the role we have here is also to take back this knowledge of what’s happening here, as to denounce it as to share it, since the media in the hands of the powers don’t talk about whats happening here.
Like they say that turkey is bombing, but they don’t talk about the strength of the Kurdish people. And this is important to us, especially now that they talk so much on Ukraine, they only see a face of it. In this way, public opinion shows great sympathy against the massacres in Ukraine but not against other people because in the end it’s not in the economic interests of Europe.
About the last attacks of the genocidal colonial of Turkey we denounce the crimes against humanity that are happening and when I refereed to these crimes is about the use of chemical weapons and the silence of the people ignoring it. It’s important to denounce it and take this subject back to Europe to share it. The people are more aware about Palestine but not much about the Kurdish people.”
Another internationalist, named Maya said: “My name is Maya and I am from Euskadi, we came as a group of international people to come here. We take to take part in the Long March that would take place, it was supposed to be a march of 3 days but in the end it happened for just a day because the army stopped us (KDP peshmergas). For was it was a day and a very emotional experience, to see by ourselves, all that we saw it before from far it really moved us. We felt really safe with the people we were, and it really was a rewarding experience.
For us now is really clear the function of the KDP in all of this, in a very expressive way since they used their forces to stop the Kurdish people and in this way we can clearly see in which side KDP is. They are side by side with the fascist and imperialist state of Turkey, and not by the Kurdish people, this is pretty clear. We also saw how the people were able to reply in a very resolute way, and it all went well exactly because of the approach of the Kurdish people and it’s very important to tell about it in Europe because they don’t talk about it, to show to them the real face of the KDP.
In the end it’s a corrupt party, how its pretty much clear, but also a party that is collaborating with the genocidal politics and playing a very active role in this. In the end they are just defending their own bourgeois interests and not the interests of the Kurdish people and one can realize when ISIS attacked and the people resisted they helped in some ways but now there is only the treason against the people in very direct way. So it’s really important that people in Europe know that.”
