NEWS CENTER – The HPG press center has published the identities of two guerrillas who fell in Besta in May this year. The HPG’s written statement said:
“On May 23, 2022, the Turkish occupation army launched a comprehensive operation against the Besta area and our comrade Fırat and comrade Delila fell in the conflict that erupted in this Şehid operation. Our two Hevals from Botan returned to their homeland after a long and successful struggle and fought as indomitable fighters of our people’s freedom struggle against the occupiers. Our Hevals Fırat and Delila, who participated in many actions developed in Botan, have earned the respect of all our people and their Hevals with their exemplary apoistic attitude. As their hevals, we promise to lead the struggle of these precious hevals to victory with the responsibility of being worthy of them.”

FIRAT ŞIRNEX
“Our comrade Fırat, originally from the town of Dêrgul in Şirnex, was born here because his family had migrated to Şirnex due to enemy pressure. Born and raised in a family that paid a price in the Kurdish freedom struggle, our comrade Fırat witnessed the enemy’s oppression and cruelty as a child. Our comrade Fırat, who was confronted with the reality of the enemy in a process where fascist practices were especially prevalent in his family and in our entire nation in general, felt great anger towards the enemy and developed sensitivity towards our people’s struggle for freedom. Our comrade Fırat, who joined the guerrilla ranks in Besta Field in 2014 after his father and brother were arrested by the enemy, stated that the only battlefield against enemy attacks was the mountains of Kurdistan and that every Kurdish youth should realize this reality. After joining the ranks of the guerrillas, our comrade Fırat managed to attract the attention of all his comrades in a short time with his excited and enthusiastic manner.
Our comrade Fırat, who went to the Medya Defense Areas to receive basic training after staying in the Botan area for a while, successfully completed his basic training. Later, he participated in the work in the Heftanîn area and became an exemplary guerrilla fighter with his hard work. With his eternal smile, he was a source of morale for his comrades and at the same time he had a reassuring attitude with his mature personality and serious approach to work. After the IS gangs attacked many areas, especially Kobanê, under the leadership of the Turkish colonial state to eliminate the achievements of our people in Rojava, he moved to the area of Rojava to fight the gangs. Our comrade Fırat fought in this area for a long time and made great efforts to defeat the gangs by participating in many actions. Although he was injured once in the war, he did not retreat from the fight but joined the fight more sharply. Comrade Fırat, who gained great war experience in the Rojava area, later turned his face to the mountains of Kurdistan. After returning to the mountains of Kurdistan, he wanted to fulfill his long-awaited wish for guerrilla activities in northern Kurdistan and insisted on it. Our comrade Fırat, who wanted to avenge the brutal attack and massacres on our people and comrades, especially during the self-rule resistance, he went to Besta area in 2020. Our comrade Fırat, who was looking forward to returning to Besta where he first started guerrilla activities, was involved in the work with great assertiveness and determination. Comrade Fırat was aware of the duties and responsibilities imposed on apoist militants by the process and devotedly participated in the successful fulfillment of these responsibilities. Our Comrade Fırat values cooperativism and has managed to become a leading Apoist militant with his concise, sincere and hardworking personality.”

DELÎLA BOTAN
“Our comrade Delila was born into a patriotic family in the village of Xulan in Cizîr. The patriotism of her family and the village where she lived influenced our comrade Delîla’s recognition of Kurdistan’s struggle for freedom. The participation of her family and the martyrdom of her two uncles caused our comrade Delîla to show interest and sympathy for our party. At the same time, she became aware of the problems our people face and felt responsible for solving them. She went on a search and during this research she came to the conclusion that the best way to solve the problem of our people’s existence and freedom was to join the ranks of the guerrillas. When the genocidal Turkish state launched extensive attacks against our people and our movement in 2015, our comrade Delila joined the ranks of the guerrillas in the Cudi area.
Our comrade Delîla, who saw training of the new fighters in the Besta area, also had her first guerrilla experience in this area. Practicing in an area like Botan during a period of intense warfare undoubtedly led to our comrade Delîla gaining great military experience. Our comrade Delila, who in a short period of time became a competent guerrilla fighter in the Botan area where enemy operations and attacks never ceased, managed to turn her anger against the enemy into a conscious practice by participating in many actions. Comrade Delîla, a guerrilla fighter in both the Kato and Besta areas, was loved and respected by her hevals for her work personality, her countless participation, and her sincere devotion to her comrades in every field in which she practiced. Later, in 2018, she moved to the Medya Defense Areas to receive ideological training and treat some health problems. In addition to her treatment in Medya Defense Zones, she received ideological education and focused on deepening in the line of women’s freedom. Our comrade Delîla, who trained on the line of defense of Rêber Apo, worked hard to become a leading commander of YJA Star. Our comrade Delila has always remembered and eagerly awaited the days of guerrilla activities in the north, her comrades there and the fallen. She always kept her dream to return to Botan as soon as possible and persistently advocated this wish. Our comrade Delîla, who had learned deep-rooted lessons from her previous practice with her deep concentration, believed that she could carry out successful works in the Botan area (…). She was aware of the need for faith to be successful and also reinforced this belief with concrete plans.”
HPG further explains that Heval Delila returned to the Besta area as a leading commander, where she started as a guerrilla two years ago. She quickly got into the works and began leading the fight. With effective actions that the enemy least expected, she broke the chain of genocide against our people. By doing so, it damaged the colonialist system that the enemy wanted to establish in Kurdistan. HPG further stated:
“Our comrade Delila, who was extremely successful in organizing young people and women and making them active against the enemy, was loved by our people and accepted as a pioneer with her self-sacrificing, natural personality of Botan. We repeat the promise to our comrade Delîla, whose martyrdom deeply affected our people and us comrades, that we will surely achieve our revolutionary mission entrusted to us.
We offer our condolences to all our patriotic people in Kurdistan, especially to the precious families of our comrade Fırat and comrade Delîla, and call for more struggle for the reality of the fallen.”
