“On September 26, 2021, in a clash with the invaders of the colonialist Turkish state in the Çeqçeqo area of Besta district of Şirnex, our comrade Şervan Êrkendî (Cebrail Gültekin), a member of Botan Command, reached martyrdom. We extend our condolences to the esteemed family of our comrade, the patriotic Êrkendî and all the people of Kurdistan. We once again renew our promise of victory to all our martyrs in the person of our heroic comrade Şervan.

Our comrade Şervan was born in Adana as a noble son of the patriotic Êrkendî people. The people of Êrkendî were one of the villages that became patriotic the earliest after the Apoist movement set foot in Botan. The people of Êrkendî have devoted their hearts to the Apoist movement, contributed their most valuable and distinguished sons to the struggle for freedom, gained a great honor with many heroic martyrs and became known as such. For this reason, the colonialist, genocidal Turkish state has reacted against the people of Êrkendî with great resentment, practiced a hostile policy and knew no bounds in oppression and persecution. The people of Êrkendî, on the other hand, never gave in to the enemy and did not give up their values and commitment to the cause of freedom at the cost of exile from Kurdistan. Wherever they went, they lived with Kurdish values and never broke away from the country and the struggle.
Our comrade Şervan, who grew up in such a family environment, recognized the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle at an early age and adopted patriotism as his basic identity. Comrade Şervan, whose heart beat with great enthusiasm and who had a dynamic and searching character, studied successfully in schools for 13 years. At the same time, as a talented young man, he was interested in music, developed himself in the art of music and took part in many concerts as a professional drummer. He took part in culture, art and youth activities and fulfilled his duties with revolutionary responsibility. Our comrade Şervan, who achieved everything a person could want to earn in society, threw all this away and joined the guerrilla ranks in 2012, one of the most important periods of our Revolutionary People’s War. Our comrade Şervan, who preferred to sing the song of freedom with his gun this time, left behind all the possibilities of individual life in one of the most difficult periods of our struggle and took the road to the mountains of Kurdistan.
Our comrade Şervan, who was a guerrilla in Garê, Xakurkê and Zap areas, made early progress and came to the fore as an Apoist militant with a bright future. When Al Nusra, ISIS and many fascist gangs, which are their derivatives, attacked the Rojava Freedom Revolution at the hands of the Turkish state, our comrade Şervan moved to Rojava Kurdistan. For five years, he participated in actions in many regions of Rojava Kurdistan and North-East Syria, leading and coordinating dozens of actions as an attack column commander. He proved himself in the practice of war with his high courage and great attack spirit. He was wounded 3 times in different places and times, but each time he dressed his wounds, learned lessons and returned to his duty early.
With his successful practice and stance in Rojava Kurdistan, he set an example for all his comrades and inspired many Arab and Kurdish youth to join the ranks of the revolution. He carried his vast military experience to the mountains of Kurdistan, focused on the new era of guerrilla at the Mahsum Korkmaz Academy, and renewed himself in style and tactics. For two years after the academy, he successfully carried out organizational work that required high trust, dedication and sensitivity and focused on guerrilla work in Bakurê Kurdistan. Our comrade Şervan’s biggest dream was to be a guerrilla in his own homeland of Botan. He never gave up on this dream and eventually moved to Botan as a member of the Botan Command. In addition to his high courage and sacrificial spirit, he applied guerrilla tactics rationally with his brilliant intelligence, talented personality, revolutionary consciousness and high foresight. In the history of our struggle, he succeeded in becoming one of the outstanding examples of early development and becoming a commander. His performance in the struggle, his loyalty to the people and comrades, his honest, sincere, courageous and sacrificial lifestyle, as well as his sacrificial stance in the line of heroism, expresses a genuine level that should be taken as a basis for all of us.
The people of Kurdistan, especially his family, and the important patriotic centers of Kurdistan such as Êrkendî, Botan and all the people of Kurdistan should be very proud of such valiant sons and heroic commanders. In the name of being comrades of comrades, we promise that we will definitely succeed in becoming a true Apoist victory guerrilla in the path of these comrades, in the line of their attitudes and attitudes, and that we will crown this heroic line with victory.”
