BEHDİNAN – Pointing out that the term ‘low intensity’ is used for wars waged by states against guerrillas in general, PKK Central Committee (MCC) Member Helin Ümit said, “The reality of war we are waging right now is not that low-intensity. We are in a high-intensity war reality. The Turkish state is waging a war using all the weapons provided by NATO.
PKK Central Committee Member Helin Ümit participated in the Special Program broadcast on Medya Haber TV and answered Serdar Eren’s questions. Here is the full interview:
Leader Apo is resisting the Imrali genocide system and isolation policy. We also follow the results of the revolutionary people’s war led by the guerrilla. The remaining period was a period in which important developments were experienced in terms of massing the struggle against isolation and conducting it at a level that would cover the entire society. The Gemlik March, which was carried out in such a way as to create repercussions despite the attempts to prevent and nullify the action with the operations carried out weeks ago, was the clearest example of this. Along with all these struggle practices, how do you evaluate the struggle against the Imrali genocide system, what are the requirements of the struggle as of the stage it has reached?
First of all, I respectfully greet Leader Apo, who showed the greatest resistance in history against the Imrali genocide system. Again in this period, while carrying out the “Time to Ensure Freedom” Movement, I commemorate with respect and gratitude our martyrs, especially in our guerrilla fields. I greet friends and sensitive humanity, especially the Kurdish people, who participated in the struggle against the Imrali genocide system.
We are going through a very important period. The year 2022 was a year when the Turkish special war system made plans to bring the Imrali genocide system to a conclusion. It’s a special year. Of course, this is related to the plans for 2023. In fact, the Turkish state system wants to go to 2023 by eliminating the freedom forces that are waging the struggle for existence and freedom in Kurdistan. For this reason, it is carrying out a very heavy fascist attack against the society of Kurdistan and Turkey through the Imrali genocide system. In that sense, every kind of struggle carried out in this process has great meaning and value.
In June, we left behind important stages in the struggle. One pillar of this is the active defense of our guerrilla on the basis of the revolutionary people’s war line. The other is the pillar of social struggle. Not only in terms of this year, the people of Kurdistan have never been indifferent to the Imrali genocide system. It has always been in a state of movement. The struggle always went on in a flow. Wherever there is a Kurd in the world, from Europe to other parts of Kurdistan, he continues to express his anger and anger against the Imrali genocide system in different ways. There is a certain planning within the framework of the Freedom Movement. There is a popular stance that is gaining momentum and wants to completely overthrow the genocidal system. We need to see this.
Gemlik Walk is very valuable
It is necessary to understand very well and correctly what the Turkish nation-state system wants to do with the Imrali genocide system. In fact, in the last 400-500 years in Kurdistan, there is the reality of the Leadership against the capitalist system and the Turkish nation-state system, which wants to complete the Kurdish genocide. There is a mind, thought and will. This will is to be removed. For this reason, some consciously, some unconsciously – I mean in terms of society – are in the feeling of this. On this basis, there is an active struggle situation. Gemlik March was held on 12 June. I greet everyone who participated in this march. It was really meaningful and valuable. An action has emerged that shows where the main focus should be in the fight against fascism.
You know; There is a very dark fascism created by the AKP-MHP in recent years. Many dynamics in Turkey were brought under control. So it is suppressed. The one who reacts a little finds himself in the dungeon on the second day. The dungeons were made the field of educating the society. Society does not need to have very advanced demands for this. Even the smallest request is met and judged in this way. In fact, this oppression and persecution outside shows how the Imrali torture and genocidal system – I do not say ‘isolation’ because it does not welcome it, is mild. The oppression outside, the pressure outside reveals what happened in the Imrali torture system. In fact, it reveals how meaningful, great and valuable the resistance put forward by Leader Apo is. Think; there is the reality of a Leadership that is hostage in the hands of the enemy. Genocide attacks want results through him. He wants to liquidate the leadership. For this reason, every step that wants to eliminate the Imrali genocide system within the framework of the Freedom Movement is very valuable. It has great meaning. It has a very important place both in terms of Turkish democracy and in eliminating the genocide and colonialism in Kurdistan, and in bringing the struggle for existence and freedom in the person of Leader Apo to a conclusion.
It is appropriate for Kurdistan women and youth to put the destruction of the Imrali genocide system at the center of their struggle.
What determines the situation in Turkey and even in the Middle East today is the attacks on Leader Apo; Leader Apo’s position. The Imrali genocide is a system reality. Without seeing this, not a single step can be taken in Turkey and the Middle East. A single correct policy cannot be established on behalf of the peoples. The forces in front of you intervened in the Middle East by revealing the reality of the Imrali genocide system. It should be noted that the years of 2001, 2003, which was the process of active intervention in the Middle East, started with the international conspiracy against Leader Apo. The reality of the international conspiracy is the reality of the war in the Middle East, and even the world war – III. World War II is in focus. Therefore, this reality should be seen very well both for the powers in Turkey and for those seeking freedom, democracy, equality and human rights in the Middle East. Without taking a stand against it, without fighting against it, a practice similar to beating water in a mortar is revealed. So it doesn’t get results. For some, this may not be very understandable and may seem exaggerated. For those who know how the political codes are laid in the Middle East and the world, we can understand what we mean. In that sense, the struggle against the Imrali genocide system gained an important level in June.
In connection with the struggle unleashed by the guerrilla against the Imrali genocidal system, especially in the Medya Defense Zones, the main force leading this process is our guerrilla, the reality that the society can no longer live with this system, that it is a constant state of war for itself, that it is a system of persecution that has been built. It was a process in which he became more aware and struggled with it. Of course the results are important. For example, let’s pay attention, immediately after the Gemlik March, the ‘Kurdish problem’ was discussed again. The position of HDP, which represents the field of democratic politics, has become debatable once again. Again, articles were written about the possibility of meeting with Leader Apo, by AKP-MHP pencils. They do it as a special war attack, of course. That the people no longer want to live with this system, they have expressed at every opportunity, moreover, they see that he carried out the dungeons, taking the risk of being shot and martyred, by risking the price. They serve this type of news in order to reduce the reactions on this issue, to remove the sensitivity of the society and to bring them back to expectation. The right line of struggle on this issue immediately shakes the balance of Turkish politics, forcing them to reconsider themselves and produce new policies. We need to see this. Therefore, it is appropriate, correct and necessary for the freedom and democracy forces, especially the Kurdish people, women and youth of Kurdistan, to put the destruction of the Imrali genocide system at the center of their struggle. The right line of struggle on this issue immediately shakes the balance of Turkish politics, forcing them to reconsider themselves and produce new policies. We need to see this. Is the opposition, especially the left, socialist, democratic opposition’s stance against isolation sufficient?
Imrali has been a problem not only for the Kurds but also for Turkey as a whole from the very beginning. This is not something new that has come to light. While evaluating the international conspiracy, Leader Apo said, “This is a conspiracy against the people of Turkey.” It is essentially a conspiracy developed to control the will of democratization in Turkey, the will and search of Turkish society for a free and fairer life. In fact, to destroy the Kurd means to destroy the Turk. In this aspect, the plot is very deep. Those who say that they are acting on behalf of the so-called Turkish society, have brought the Kurdish people’s freedom struggle for the benefit of the Turkish people and the genocide of the Kurds into a question of survival. There is a very serious game here. When viewed historically and currently, the Kurdish people’s struggle for existence and freedom has reached a conclusion, Living in more democratic conditions and being able to express himself freely with his own identity does not weaken Turkey. Peoples are connected much more tightly, conditions for common life are formed.
Leader Apo has been educating the Kurdish community for 50 years
By developing the international conspiracy against Leader Apo, international powers tied Turkey more to them. Let Turks and Kurds always be at war with each other, in this way, all potentials in Kurdistan were kept under the grip of genocide, and the slightest economic, democratic and social development in Turkey was prevented. Turkey has become one of the most backward countries in the world. That’s how it was in terms of freedoms, especially women’s freedom, and it came to that point economically. Society came face to face with scenes of insanity on an almost daily basis. Just the other day, for example, a father shot his wife, child and himself! This was the case now. If there was a responsible government that really thought about Turkey’s future, this would be its main problem. This society is under my control, Why is he throwing himself off the cliff like this, running to his death like this, in the climate of security I provide? Why is there such a climate of death in Turkey? There is no living climate in Turkey. This is very closely linked to international conspiracy and war. I personally don’t think this is understood enough. Yes, Kurdistan and Kurdish society is a political society. Leader Apo has been educating the Kurdish society for 50 years. He trained by war, he trained by analysis. Indeed, the most enlightened society is the Kurdistan society, no matter what anyone says. It is a political society. It has revealed its own interests and decision-making power, but Turkish society is not like that. The Turkish society has been rendered the most apolitical in the war against the Kurds, not knowing where the benefit will come from for its own future. As if banging on the head, lying, deceiving, It has come to such a point with provocation that the table is in the form that I have just tried to indicate. The reason for this is not well understood.
Nor should we be in denial; In recent years, Turkey’s left-socialist forces have grasped the importance of joint struggle with the Freedom Movement. As a result, they created common platforms both in the field of democratic politics and in the field of organization. These were very valuable. HDK, HDP were the result of this. There are other platforms as well. Some were short-term, some still continue, but what is the place of the Imrali genocide system in this reality; I do not think that this is sufficiently understood by the left-socialist opposition groups. There is an approach like this; yes, Turkey has a democracy problem, one of the most important denominators of this problem is the attacks against the Kurdish people and the existence of the Kurdish people. There is an acceptance of this in this way, but the Turkish nation-state, AKP-MHP fascism, There is not a sufficient level to see the practical attacks, especially the practices against Leader Apo, and to take a stand against them. There are weaknesses in this.
If Denizler, Mahir, İbrahim Kaypakkayalar were alive, all hell would break loose.
The social field is a complex field, it cannot be explained by a single phenomenon. As society builds itself, it builds in many dimensions. In that sense, there is an economic problem, a social problem, and a cultural problem in Turkey right now. For example, there is a very serious cultural corruption. There is also the Kurdish problem. There is an approach to treat the Kurdish issue as if it were a problem among problems. This is the inadequacy. The main problem that conditions, deepens and pushes all the problems mentioned above to insolvency is the hostile policies towards the Kurdish people’s struggle for existence and freedom. These are the policies implemented by the genocidal-colonial Turkish state and currently the AKP-MHP fascism. That is the key, and without breaking that key, neither democracy can develop nor the economic crisis can be overcome in Turkey. It may be overcome periodically. Here they get some money from Saudi Arabia today, Tomorrow they will go and buy some from Qatar, they can try to survive with CPR by providing money from outside, but this will be periodic. In other words, the situation of being a real solution power that stands on its own feet and is based on its own social dynamics does not develop. For example, in terms of underground surface resources, which country in the world is Anatolia and Mesopotamia behind? Humanity as a geographical location was born from this cradle. For thousands of years, these lands created humanization, socialization, and fed humanity. Now the people of this geography are hungry! So this problem cannot be solved like this. The main approach; It is stopping the attacks against the Kurdish people, accepting the Kurdish people’s demands for existence and freedom, and based on this, strengthening in Anatolia and Kurdistan with its own internal dynamics. Turkey, which is an agriculture and livestock country, has become a country that takes everything from outside. This is the biggest betrayal of Turkish society. This is the biggest conspiracy. There is a popular saying, ‘to hand over your bridle’. You have become addicted to another place. AKP-MHP fascism constantly uses the rhetoric of “domestic and national”, but it should always be read backwards. If they say “I am local and national”, we should understand that there is a regime that is the most collaborative and in opposition to its own people. When he says ‘democracy’ we must understand it as dictatorship and fascism. When we say ‘freedom’, we should know that we should perceive it as a situation where social freedom is restricted and control mechanisms are more developed. So whatever they say about themselves, the opposite is true. There is a popular saying, ‘to hand over your bridle’. You have become addicted to another place. Without going too far from the subject, I would like to say: This is the point that the opposition, especially the left-socialist forces in Turkey, cannot fully answer. So they seem to be revolving around the problem. I also want to say: This is not what I am saying for all left-socialist sections and organizations. For example, there were very important parties and groups participating in the Gemlik March. There were really honorable political stances representing the will of the Turkish people, but this cannot be attributed to Turkish society enough. It is limited and narrow. This must be overcome.
In the period between the end of 2012 and 2013, it was seen how even the possibility of the development of Kurdish-Turkish peace relieved Turkish society. It was a period when how much diversity was revealed, both revealing its own color and relaxation in many social issues, especially in the economy. Therefore, this should be carried to more Turkish society.
If Denizler, Mahir, İbrahim Kaypakkayalar were alive, all hell would break loose. These names are the true patriots of Turkey. When you think of patriotism in Turkey, Deniz Gezmiş should come to mind. Towards the end of their lives, that is, towards their martyrdom, these revolutionary leaders realized the so-called ‘Kurdish problem’, which in fact expresses the state’s policies of extermination and denial against the Kurdish people, and took a stand against it. They saw that Turkey’s democracy would mainly develop through this, but there are many people who fight illegally against this reality. The year 2022 is a very important year for the history of Turkey. In other words, 2023 is a year in which many things will be determined. that’s why everyone should put forth what they have and raise the struggle.
One of the consequences of the Gemlik March was that the fascist government partially announced the deaths of soldiers that had been hidden since the beginning of the war. It was seen that the losses of soldiers that were hidden from the beginning of the war were explained and used in order to narrow down the growing struggle against the genocidal system by creating and provoking militarist-chauvinist feelings in Turkish society. This situation, which shows that the fascist politics were blocked together with the invading army, is undoubtedly not independent of the results of the Avaşîn-Zap war. What are the military and political dimensions and developments caused by the war here in its third month?
First of all, I cordially greet our comrades who carried out one of the most magnificent resistance and defense struggles that history has ever seen in Avaşîn, Zap, Metîna and Xakurkê. While developing this struggle, I commemorate with gratitude our friends who were martyred in the Apoist bodyguard line. In the person of Avzem, Şerzan, Bager and Arin, I would like to reiterate my gratitude and devotion to the fallen comrades.
A high intensity war
A high-intensity war is taking place. In general, the term ‘low intensity’ is used for wars waged by states against guerrillas. The reality of war that we are waging right now is not that low-intensity. We are in a high-intensity war reality. The Turkish state is waging a war using all the weapons provided by NATO. Without the support of international forces, they could not have violated the borders and carried out an invasion attack. It does not exist anywhere in the world. We have seen; All hell broke loose for Ukraine. When there is a border violation somewhere, it becomes a cause of international crisis. These borders have guards. The general guardian of these borders can be expressed as the UN and NATO. Yes, III. There is a weakening in the institutions of capitalist modernity during World War II.
III. The World War II has turned into a hot war in Ukraine. And this is how it works in Kurdistan. The war intensifying in Kurdistan essentially determines world politics. In other words, it does not only determine Turkey’s politics. It shakes Turkey, and it has a very important place in world politics. The whole world is currently following the war in Avaşîn, Zap, and Metîna. There is a NATO summit in the coming days. Turkey wants to attack Rojava, it has declared. He used various arguments. It wants to evaluate NATO’s enlargement strategy within this framework from its own perspective. For example, it is said; Currently, the situation in Avaşîn, Zap and Metîna is important for all these attacks and plans. If they get results there and move forward, they will then put their other plans into action. All the attacks and wars waged in that sense, based on an international plan. Of course, that shouldn’t scare us. For example, the international conspiracy was also an international plan, but it was foiled. There were goals that the international conspiracy wanted to achieve, but they were frustrated and blocked. It was blocked by the great popular resistance, it was prevented by the self-sacrificing stance of hundreds of people within the framework of the You Cannot Darken Our Sun actions, it was prevented by the struggle of the guerrilla, it was prevented by the defensive war. Now we consider this war as the updating process of the international conspiracy. This too is overcome. NATO has been involved in this war since 1985. Turkey is fighting against us with the support of NATO, not as we are fighting against NATO. If he were on his own, he wouldn’t have been able to continue this war this long. Turkey and Kurdistan could easily reach their own solution. Had it not been for so much outside interference, he could have easily found his own solution. The character of the Turkish ruling class, the reality on which they are based, the way they exist do not allow this. In other words, since the establishment of the Turkish nation-state, the Turkish ruling classes have been shaped in a collaborative comprador manner. In fact, most of those who ruled the ‘Turkish nation-state’ were not even Turks. It is so today. It has been like this from the beginning. I want to draw attention to this; There’s a psychology to it. I mean, no Turk would be so nationalistic. The devshirme are more nationalistic to prove themselves. I grew up in Turkish society, I know Turkish society very well. It is not – nationalist. This war is connected with these realities. It also has international connections. The way they exist doesn’t allow it. In other words, since the establishment of the Turkish nation-state, the Turkish ruling classes have been shaped in a collaborative comprador manner. A horde of murderers has been created
This war in Metîna, Avaşîn and Zap creates an earthquake effect in Turkey. As you stated, they don’t really give their losses. They’ve already created a horde of murderers. In the past, military service had a counterpart in Turkish society. Although most of the things that filled their minds were false, a young man who went to the military was going to the ‘homeland defense’. So it had a moral value. Yes, he was involved in a genocidal-colonial war, but he was doing it unknowingly. I myself am a witness, for example; In the 90s, we had neighbors from Sinop and Samsun. We grew up with them. They went back and forth to the military, there were those who really got out of balance. They couldn’t handle the war in Kurdistan. The reality they encountered turned them upside down, as they were always filled with other things. Most of them did not recover. Do you say those who bang their heads on the walls, do you say that the tendency to violence is increasing… In the current situation, mercenary is an army of murderers. Think about it, they kill people just for money. That’s why this is one of the biggest betrayals of AKP-MHP fascism to this country; He made society a slave of money. Today, there is no value left in Turkey that money cannot buy. Is this morality, religion, faith? This is truly a terrible situation. That’s why soldiers can hide their losses. He is contracted, he lives for money, he fights for money, he dies. According to him, he serves as he wishes. Whenever they need a hysteria in Turkey, if they want a war psychology against the Kurds, they give some information about the balance sheet of the war. Other than that, they don’t. If you pay attention, they do not bring it to the agenda because they have been hit very hard. If the war really went their way, would it be like this if they really held the field? They are trying to create the atmosphere of war they need through confrontation with Greece.
Guerrilla shows the honorable way, provides moral strength
The enemy has taken a significant blow, but the war continues. Nobody should relax. I also mentioned in the previous program; We are proud of our friends. We believe that they will be absolutely successful. Our Martyr Bager friend also expresses this in his last speech you listened to. Friends also emphasize that this war has been won in their messages from the war fronts. We believe, but our people should be better aware that this is a total attack. Yes, the war is intensifying in Zap, Avaşîn, and Metîna, the enemy wants to get results here. The freedom forces in Kurdistan, in the person of YJA Star and HPG guerrillas, are wanted to be liquidated. PKK wants to be liquidated. From there, the Imrali genocide system is sought to be brought to a conclusion. This is true, but the main goal is the liquidation and surrender of the society. That’s why the Kurdish people have to raise the struggle everywhere. So we are not in a situation like ‘not now, tomorrow’. Indeed, 2022-2023 is a very critical year of struggle. The enemy thinks this with all his might. He has put forth all his means to bring this war to a conclusion. For example, he dared to be exposed. The Turkish state is being exposed right now. He is an occupier. So he can’t hide it. The last time he was a retired colonel in the Turkish media, if I remember correctly, he said, “We can’t be like that, we seem to be invaders from everywhere.” Yes, invaders. It’s not an operation, it stays where it goes. He did the same in Afrin, he did the same in Serêkaniyê. They already had bases in Bashur, now they are making it more permanent. From there, the main goal is to reach Kirkuk and Mosul. Here is to liquidate Maxmur, Shengal. So there is such a comprehensive expansion plan. For this, Turkey is starving its society, against all kinds of oppression and oppression. In other words, he is obsessed with his teeth and wants to liquidate the Kurds. There is nothing more than that. So nothing like this; guerrilla will strike and the struggle will be limited to guerrilla areas. Yes, the guerrilla continues its struggle against all kinds of attacks as a people’s defense force, shows the honorable way and provides morale strength.
Everyone must do their part
The situation we are in is not like the 90s. Our people need to understand this. In the 90s, we were waging a war of attrition. We were waging a war of attrition piece by piece. Revolutionary people’s war paves the way for democratic nation building. There were two options before us to achieve this goal; It was either the development of the democratic constitutional process with political methods based on a principled consensus and the solution of the Kurdish question in this way. This has been tried. There is no sacrifice left for this. The guerrilla retreated, made ceasefires many times, the peace groups left… So nothing was left. The Kurdish community, burying all its pain, extended its hand. He put aside the murder of his children by the Turkish state. He did this so that there would be a development in Turkey and Kurdistan. The answer to this was the ‘Plan of Precipitation’ of genocidal colonialism. While considering all these good intentions and efforts as a weakness, he tried to use it as an opportunity for himself. The result is as known. The main responsible for this is Erdogan. He should never go and say in Kurdistan, “Go catch up with these people because they disrupted this process”. He is lying. He is the one who sells. He disrupted the process in Imrali before the resistance processes took place. While trying to set a table in Imrali, he broke it right there. Because they planned it. It’s that clear. For this reason, if the Kurdish people are to ensure their existence and freedom, the second way remains. The second way is to obtain and build its own national democratic rights in the reality of war, through a revolutionary people’s war. This is not just the war and struggle of a certain power against the colonial genocidal powers. It means taking part in the war by organizing the entire society with all its strength. So everyone should be able to do their part in this regard. Indeed, history does not forgive otherwise.
There are also those who call out from under the ground. There are martyrs in every neighborhood, every street, every mountain, under every tree, in every valley, in every stream bed in Kurdistan. They have traces. That won’t leave us alone. We cannot forgive ourselves. We are among the damned. Therefore, our society, the Kurdish society, must carry the line of revolutionary people’s war that took place in Zap, Avaşîn and Metina everywhere. No one should say “I have no means, I have a lot of problems, I have difficulties etc”. A stance that integrates with the guerrilla struggle, popular resistance must develop. Youth and women should lead the way.
June is also the month of martyrdom for the great revolutionaries who have become the symbol of women’s leadership in the history of Kurdistan and the revolution. The legacy of struggle left by Zîlan (Zeynep Kınacı) and Sema Yüce; What is their place and meaning in the self-defense power reached by the YJA Star organization?
We are living the 30th anniversary of our women’s army. Of course, it is very important to fight for 30 years as a women’s army in Kurdistan and the Middle East. Considering the reactionary and sexist practices against women in the Middle East, it makes great sense to reveal a women’s army that will lead the women of the world, especially from a social structure like the Kurdistan society that has been left behind in many respects. This has huge implications for the Middle East. The YPJ, for example, came to light as a result of this. Of course, the Kurdish people achieved this with the efforts of Leader Apo. The main support of all our women martyrs, especially Heval Zîlan and Heval Sema Yüce, has been the comradeship of Leader Apo. In terms of both our leading cadres and our comrades, the feeling that guides their actions is related to the attacks against the Leader. As a result of the explosion in Damascus in 1996, Heval Zîlan felt this attack very deeply and sought to respond to it. For Heval Sema, if her letter is read carefully, she feels the attack and conspiracy against the Leader’s line in 1998 and seeks an answer to this, she wants to draw all Kurdish women into the struggle. “I want to be a bridge from March 8 to March 21,” he says. So women want freedom to walk over that bridge.
The correct guerrilla line was based on those principles.
Leadership said “goddess culture” for Zîlan friend. What is the updating of the goddess culture in Kurdistan as the geography where the Neolithic originated? Heval Zîlan, it is important to dwell on it because there is a distortion of consciousness on this issue. What was Heval Zîlan angry about? One was angered by genocidal colonialism. In his letter, İki said, “I want to express my anger against the attacks of imperialism that enslave women.” There is not only genocidal colonialism here, there is a stance against the ‘slave woman’ character revealed by capitalist modernity. So it creates a new dimension. This is how the goddess culture is updated in the person of Heval Zîlan. Goddess culture means, in essence, the life that develops around women. It means living standards. Here, Heval Zîlan set a measure for the society in Kurdistan, starting with women. He set the measure of love. He set the standard of living together. If there will be life, how will it be? He has set its measure. Heval Zîlan is a principle personality. She literally updated the goddess culture. This is the first point I want to express for Heval Zîlan. Secondly, Heval Zîlan revealed the line of action of the bouncer. Before that, Apoist militancy always walked in the line of the bouncer. For example, the activism of July 14 is like that. It is to give your own cells in a sacrificial manner. In other words, our struggle has developed along that line from the first day it started, but there was no such activism until Heval Zîlan. In this sense, Zîlan’s action meant a new tactical opening; the elimination of a battalion by one person. The correct guerrilla line was based on those principles. This is the first point I want to express for Heval Zîlan. Secondly, Heval Zîlan revealed the line of action of the bouncer. Before that, Apoist militancy always walked in the line of the bouncer. Before that, we had issues that were exposed in our line of battle. These are very comprehensively included in Leader Apo’s analysis. In the reality of Heval Zîlan, we need to understand that; This is not a suicide as an act of self-sacrifice. Suicide is one thing, sacrifice is another. That’s why the Leadership called this action ‘an act of life’. This is what we need to understand. In other words, sacrifice gains meaning as an act of life. Heval Zîlan is a milestone in the development of sacrifice as an act of life. It is also the pinnacle. In that aspect, it also pioneered the line of war we waged. Before Zîlan, there were discussions such as what will be the place of women in the army, how much power they will bring, whether they will lead or not, but after Zîlan, this has disappeared. Both correct femininity measures and correct masculinity measures have emerged. No man has been able to defend traditional masculinity after the action of Zîlan friend, because there is a Zîlan reality in front of him. There is a Zîlan reality that achieves what he cannot achieve, leads, directs and shows the principle. The leadership’s analysis of goddesses intensified after him. I was with the Leader when Heval Zîlan’s action first took place. At that first moment, I witnessed that the Leader felt this action very deeply. “Imagine, a woman blew herself up to the hairs of her enemy,” he said. Subsequently, he said: “Zîlan is one”. In practice, you cannot become Zîlan by imitating. It is a principle. Now we have to be living Zîlans. It is necessary to represent the Zîlan line in life. Our Freedom Movement continues it as an understanding and style of life by embodying it, especially in PAJK. Today, women’s freedom in Kurdistan will develop with the principles of Zîlan. For example, he will not live with the colonialists. His anger against genocide will be clear. We have to evaluate it within the scope of special war attacks, for example, it will not give its hand to the enemy. No young woman will come together with the invader, the one who harms her own people, and they will become angry. This is the order of the Zîlan reality. This is the order we received. Each of our female friends who make up the YJA Star forces are our friends who deepen in the line of Zîlan. Each of them is representative of the goddess culture.
YJA-STAR represents the Zîlan line
While the leadership was evaluating Heval Zîlan and Heval Sema, Heval Zîlan had a more theoretical and principled exit, while Sema Yüce stated that more struggle with life and more confrontation with practice were evident in Friend. Heval Sema considers the whole life practice as an action. That is, life is a field of action in Heval Sema. The war he wages with himself is so intense that, for example, he says, “Without exaggeration, I feel two systems colliding in my personality.” In the first place, he is waging that revolutionary war in his personality to the end. Finally, he says, “I am at the moment when I become clear in my own system”.
Let’s look at the state of the people in the system; it’s a creek in between. It is unclear what he wants. Its dimensions are unknown. So there is a really serious solution to this issue. Meaningless life by the hand of capitalist modernity is everywhere. There is a terrible struggle for meaning in Heval Sema, there is persistence in this struggle. There is a quest to make oneself meaningful. What is needed today, especially young women in Kurdistan, is meaning. Is life just drinking or sexual satisfaction? Can human life be treated in this way? These are really important questions and there are very comprehensive answers to them both in the person of Heval Sema and in the person of our goddess Heval Zîlan. For example, Heval Zîlan says about her action, “I want to have a meaningful life and a great action.” It establishes the relationship of meaningful life with action. Living meaningfully isn’t just about nurturing things in yourself. Meaningful living has a connection with action. In this context, I respectfully commemorate both of our friends. I would like to state that their struggle will also lead to results in our struggle. YJA Star is in a position to represent this line smoothly in its 30th year. I would like to reiterate this on this occasion.
The rise of fascism, which is also the deepening of the state crisis, expresses a process that develops in parallel with the attacks against women in many aspects. How do you evaluate the women’s struggle against all orientations?
The situation of women in Turkey is really dire. The AKP-MHP fascist system is truly a male-dominated system. She is anti-women. It is possible to observe this in all parameters; There is such an anti-women situation in Turkey, from the social sphere to the political sphere, from the cultural sphere to the military reality. The more fascism gets stuck and the more it sees the end coming, the more it burdens women. This is a dialectical relationship. Because women mean society. There is no society without women. Okay, there is no society without men, but women are a more dominant element in social existence. Even in the family that we criticize today, which is a social unit, the woman is dominant. As long as women create the social life in their own environment and women are the pioneers, the governments cannot feel comfortable. They have to maintain a constant state of war against society. This, means war against women. Societies in which women’s maternal values are alive cannot be very harsh societies. More solidarity, more agreeable and conscientious with each other… If these were in Turkey, if they were reflected in Turkish politics, could such attacks take place?
They are the last moments of AKP-MHP fascism
They are the last moments of AKP-MHP fascism. He has been approached. As long as this political climate and state of war continues, attacks against women will intensify. Almost everywhere is an area of violence. This is more so in places where violence, murder, assault, and especially the state, security and interior ministry are touched. For example, sergeants killing their wives… Such incidents are very common. I think they’ve been covered lately. You asked that the deaths of soldiers are hidden, they are also hidden. Because it is exposed and the society is frightened by this situation. He now knows that the war is not on the top of a mountain in Kurdistan, but in his own house, in a room. A screening is commonly done because this is frightening. With the latest press law, they want to create a society where the truth is more hidden. Because collapse exists in all its parameters. That’s why violence against women is going through the heaviest period in Turkey. The concept of violence is also scarce, in fact, what happened represents a complete massacre. If they can, they tend to make women spiritually dependent. When this is not enough, violence comes into play. Here are the murders of women. The Pınar Gültekin case is important in that sense. It was a case in which the Turkish public was sensitive. Incredible savagery was committed against Pınar Gültekin. The government sees this murder as justified because it does not fit its conservative-Islamic lifestyle. The reason for the ‘drive discount’ is Pınar’s lifestyle. Here are the murders of women. It is important for women to create their own spaces of freedom and coming together.
The women’s movements in Turkey and Kurdistan need to keep the situation of women on the agenda and carry out a united struggle against this situation. Women may differ on many issues, but when it comes to women’s life and freedom, they must be able to come together. Only women can find a solution to the so-called ‘Kurdish problem’. In other words, this problem can be solved with the influx of women’s minds into the political arena. It is the unifying element. Otherwise, societies are moving further away from each other, towards separation, with the current male mind. With these aspects, the struggle for women’s liberation is one of Turkey’s most pressing problems. Therefore, this struggle needs to be tackled at a strategic level.
There is pressure in the current situation, but on the other hand, there is fragmentation in women’s organizations as seen from here. As far as I look from the Media Defense Areas, I’m telling you. There are problems of coming together by setting their own agendas and growing the anti-fascist front as women, as you can see from here. You cannot prevent the murders without organizing a democratic front based on women’s freedom.
The women’s revolution cannot be treated as a political revolution. Yes, there is a need for political rights and a political revolution. Again in civil law, it is important to ensure the place of women in the constitution. On paper, these are provided to a certain extent. If the attacks cannot be prevented despite all this, it is necessary to approach the issue of women’s freedom more deeply. It is important for women to create their own spaces of freedom and coming together.
There are also more specific attacks against Kurdish women. When the attack is against Kurdish women, there is a situation of not showing enough sensitivity. There is also discrimination in this regard. We have seen this approach in the matter of trustees appointed to municipalities. He was appointed everywhere in Kurdistan, the reaction did not develop. When it comes to one or two municipalities in Turkey, almost everyone stood up. I mean, there really can’t be that much chauvinism, there can’t be that much injustice. There is also a double standard for Kurdish women. When there are Kurdish women politicians and activists, the reaction is not developed enough. Now there is an orientation towards Saliha Aydeniz. The abolition of the parliament was brought to the agenda. They can drop, they dropped the mandate of many deputies. But these people are the leaders of the people. The people chose them. That’s why I believe they will continue their fight. Gotta own it. We have to fight together. The attitudes of the police in that Gemlik March were very ugly. Provocations, insults, attacks… All of these show the level reached. Saliha Aydeniz defended herself. It is imposed; I’ll do anything to you, but you can’t reciprocate me. That’s why we have to keep fighting. In the person of these women politicians and pioneers, the Kurdish woman takes courage and raises awareness. Our female politicians need to increase the struggle with this awareness. I also believe that they will be successful in their struggle, I wish them success. You evaluated the struggle against fascism from the women’s side. Now there is the question of the social struggle against fascism from a more general front. While trying to raise a policy of tension through Greece outside, there is a reality of power that is preparing plans for chaos inside. Writers of private war media also reveal signs of this in their writings. How should one explain the need for policies aimed at creating all these attacks and chaos?
There is already a civil war going on in Turkey. The society is wanted to be kept in a psychology of constant uneasiness and fright, as if it would disappear. I think that’s the main issue. In a way, it is aimed to keep the society under control by intimidating, frightening and displaying power. The political style of AKP-MHP fascism is parallel to this. They do this consciously. So are the OK characters; they are populists, powerists, etc. But all these are for the purpose of expressing themselves strongly to the society and gathering the mass around that power. One tool they use to achieve this is fear. People will be afraid that they will gather around themselves. This is how I view these chaos discussions. Would he dare to do such a thing? Gets. He’s really blinded by money and power. Therefore, what is wanted to be done is; to frighten Turkish society, this is basically to follow a strategy that will bring the people together around power. If they cannot, it is possible that they will retain civil-war as an option. They may also want to gain a coup management position with a civil-war rehearsal that will keep them in power. That’s why they’re also provoking foreign-war. The constantly reheated conflict agendas with Greece are linked to this. He is already in the Middle East war. One of the organizers and managers of the war in the Middle East is the Turkish state. They have given a role in the implementation of international plans. It’s been like this since its inception. This historical information should never be forgotten. It’s like NATO’s arsenal in the region. We still do not know what is going on in Incirlik. Maybe it’s full of nuclear weapons! There is a reality like this; As seen in Iraq, Syria and finally Ukraine, the borders are changing, the regional states are far from their former borders and domination areas. The Turkish state and the fascist AKP-MHP government brought up the issue of claiming rights by taking advantage of this environment. Now, within the framework of the National Pact, Turkey claims the line from Mosul-Kirkuk to Afrin. He even wants to reach as far as Aleppo. “We were tricked in Lausanne, these are our right, the Syrian state cannot protect them anyway, and there is a Kurdish state in the north, this is dangerous for our survival, there are Turkmens in Iraq too, Mosul was dependent on us, there is a war there now, that’s why they are here. “I want to check,” he says, that’s his claim. Of course, the capitalist system cannot produce a solution to this, you need to know this. Some circles consider that the era of the nation-state has passed. Actually, it’s not like that. Small and easy-to-control states may be desired rather than uncontrollably large states in strategic regions, but the nation-state mechanism still exists.
Of course, Turkey wants to take advantage of this situation. That’s why 2022-2023 is important. On the way to the 100th anniversary of Lausanne, TC wants to expand its borders, this is one. AKP-MHP fascism wants to base their stay in power on this, these two. After enlarging the borders, they want to start the construction of the 2nd Republic based on Islamist principles. How far can they reach this, how much will the world balances allow this; TC has geopolitical advantages, but also has many disadvantages. They may have wishes, but they will not get everything they want. It should be noted that; Such periods are periods of revolution, periods of innovation. Not only the sovereigns, but also the peoples can gain big from such processes. For example, the October Revolution of 1917 took place in such a period. Yes, it is a process with a lot of social tragedies, a process with a lot of pain and losses. For example, millions of people are on the migration path. People are being displaced from their homes. Statelessness is a very serious problem. It’s a lot of pain. It is only necessary to see that; The greatest beauty comes out of the greatest pain. This is a dialectical thing. Therefore, it is our main duty to struggle, to know that we will win by fighting, to see the opportunities ahead. The Kurdish people have the potential to mobilize the peoples of the region as well as themselves. Considering this political conjuncture in total, the probability of the Kurdish people winning is very high. The question of how long it will take for the final victory to take place is debatable, since it has gained its existence through struggle. If we do not protect and fulfill today’s duties, this process will be prolonged. We will have to fight another 20 years, another 50 years. fulfills our duties,
I salute the actions of the Revolutionary Youth Movement
In this context, responsibilities fall on all social segments. Youth have an important role to play. By the way, I salute the actions of DGH (Revolutionary Youth Movement) in Bakurê Kurdistan. After a certain time, they unleashed a systematic action. I want to express that they should continue this. As a striking force in the social field, the youth will lead the revolutionary people’s war. Youth will force the enemies of the people. Kurdistan youth also has that power. As long as he can focus on his own problems. For example, every Kurdish youth can do something on his own initiative. At the present stage, they do not need to wait to be organized by such people. There are a lot of hostile elements that have come and infiltrated into the society, and the place is swarming with them. Police, agent, MIT, There are personalities who come and cooperate with the colonization of the people because I am a politician, their places and workplaces… Turkey has metropolises. Youth of Kurdistan should not stay in place. Especially the Bakur youth. It can be an arrest, a detention, but it happens the other way too. The state of emergency laws are still in effect. I think they aim to put everyone in prison once in Kurdistan. In other words, detention and arrest have become daily events. It both registers that individual and intimidates him. So they get it anyway. Let’s at least reach the consciousness of the enemy from here and make ourselves a part of this sacred struggle. Let’s develop the struggle and bring ourselves closer to the free life. This is what we expect from the youth. Along with these tasks, the youth should be able to make themselves felt in every field, He should be able to reach the power of representation in every field and be able to train himself. At least, it should have an attitude that embraces political problems as much as the previous generation.
