BEHDINAN – In its statement dated May 30, 2022, HPG Press Liaison Center (BİM) gave information about the conflict between the invading Turkish army and the guerrillas at the battle positions of Martyr Berxwedan in the morning hours of May 29. He shared the following information with the public, stating that the officers of the Turkish army forcibly sent the invading group to the said position:
“It has been observed by our forces that the invading soldiers do not want to advance and argue with the officers. The invading officers then sent a group of 4 towards the battle positions. These invaders were taken under control by our forces around the battle positions and hit with sabotage tactics. Our forces have taken control of the occupiers’ funerals. In this action, a total of 4 invaders were punished, and the military equipment and weapons belonging to the invaders were destroyed. The bodies of the 2 invaders are under the control of our forces.”

However, the Turkish army hid its losses in the Martyr Shahin Resistance Area and also served fake news to the Turkish society. It turned out that Nuri Melih Bozkurt, whom Turkish state officials claimed to have died in the hospital where he was wounded, was actually punished in the Martyr Şahin Resistance Area and his body was taken over by the guerrillas.
While the body of Bozkurt was in the handeds of the guerrillas, the images were also taken by the guerrillas. A guerrilla speaking in the footage states that the soldier in question talked to him before he died and his name is Melih. Speaking to the camera, the guerrilla says that they punished two more Turkish soldiers in the same clash and took their bodies outside.

HPG gave new information about 4 Turkish soldiers, including Nuri Melih Bozkurt, who were shot by HPG and YJA Star guerrillas on May 29, 2022 in the Martyr Şahin Resistance Area. Noting that the soldiers in question were forcibly sent to the tunnels by their commanders, HPG made the following statement regarding what happened that day:
“Our friends watch and listen for hours before targeting them. They even hear that their names are Burak, Islam and Melih in their conversations. Our friends punish the soldiers who are forcibly sent to the war tunnels. He leaves the two of them outside to get their bodies. They want to keep Nuri Melih Bozkurt, who is seriously injured, in a quiet place. But he dies soon after stating that his name is Melih. Our friends are recording Melih’s funeral, as the Turkish army hides all its losses. Then they leave his body in a place where the Turkish state can take it. However, it turns out that the Turkish army is throwing some of the bodies that were left outside, instead of taking them away from the cliff. We do not know what was done to the funeral of the soldier we photographed.”
THE LIE ‘HE WAS HOSPITAL, WOUNDED, NOT RESCUE’
HPG stated that the Turkish state openly misled the public and provided false news regarding the death of Nuri Melih Bozkurt, adding, “For example, all of them openly lie about Melih Bozkurt saying ‘he was in the hospital, he was injured, he could not be saved’. However, that soldier died in Zap. It is unclear whether his body was even taken. They are deceiving the society. This is how we humanely approach their funeral; on the other hand, they approach both our funerals and their own funerals in the most brutal way.”
HPG: THEY APPROACH OUR FURNACES WITH WILD METHODS
Stating that the Turkish state and its army are engaged in inhuman and immoral practices, HPG reminded the brutal methods applied against the guerrillas who were martyred and made the following assessment:
“Şehadete ulaşan yoldaşlarımızın cenazelerine DAİŞ’in yaptığı gibi canice uygulamalar yapıyor. Yaşayan halkımıza işkence yaptığı gibi cenazelerimize de vahşi yöntemlerle hakaretler ediyor. Bunlara dair elimizde çok sayıda belge var. Türk devleti bir gün mutlaka hem tarih önünde, hem insanlığın vicdanında, hem de uluslararası alanda yargılanacak ve bu yaptıklarının hesabını verecektir. Belki Türk devletini ve ordusunu şimdi yürütenlerin akıllarınca cenazelerimize bu şekilde vahşice eziyet edilmesi ve görüntülerinin farklı mecralarda bilerek yayılması halkımıza yönelik yürütülen psikolojik savaşın etkili bir parçasıdır. Bunun kendilerine kazandırdığını düşünüyorlar. Oysaki, insanlıktan çıkmış işgalciler güruhunun, maneviyat ve moral değerlerden yoksun şekilde bu tarzda motive edilmesi bumerang gibi en çok onları vuracaktır.

Maybe they think that they are weakening us psychologically, but we have seen that these psychological warfare methods will make them lose the most, and we will see more.”
