SPAIN – The Spanish Revolutionary workers syndicate CNT (Confederacion Nacional de Trabajo) share a statement condemning the collaborators of Barzani for stopping the International Working Brigades to cross to Rojava and calling for the lifting up of the illegal and inhuman embargo that Rojava is being under since 2013. The statement can be read as it follows:
“A group of volunteers have tried to enter Rojava and tell us about the situation in the area.
The time for silence is over. The time of impunity translated into the violation of rights that prevent human beings from realizing themselves as human beings is over. State borders are nothing more than arguments of violence in the form of constant bombardment towards the bridges that want to move towards the union of peoples and the rapprochement of cultures towards brotherhood.
Between 2014 and 2016, the Northern Democratic Federation of Syria (Rojavâ -east, in Kurdish language) was consolidated, a place inhabited – for the most part – by Kurdish, Arab and Assyrian populations.
After decades of repression perpetrated by the Syrian government of Bashar Al-Assad and the Ba’az party, with the war context in the area in 2011, the foundation of Democratic Confederalism was taking shape as the Kurdish population dissociated itself from the official statist positions and its adversaries, the rebel forces. The context of communal life increased its power in citizen dynamics based on collective decision making; a radical ecologism giving life to environmentally sustainable work spaces and feminist dynamics (in the face of a dominant patriarchal system) that are nourished by the empowerment of women, reaching the construction of self-managed and sustainable homes (communes), where the neighbors enjoy the space, in absolute security, based on sharing as many experiences as they wish, and fight against the dominant patriarchy.
These Feminist Self-Defense Communes marked the before and after, after the conflict, against the terrorist occupation of the Islamic State. After their formation, and in a socio-cultural context marked by the subjugation of women included in aberrations such as material/monetary exchanges, they were the key piece in the expulsion of the Islamist offensives.
After the formalization of the Federation in 2016 and in the face of the creation of these communal spaces that did nothing but grow and rise/consolidate in an empowering way: the Syrian Government does not recognize the democratic legitimacy of the Commune. The Kurdish Regional Government of Iraq, led since decades ago by the Barzani dynasty and according to the interests of the United States of America and NATO, puts red carpet to the constant violations of human rights that the genocidal neo-Ottoman regime of Razip T. Erdogan commits day after day. Erdogan commits day after day on the Kurdish population in the aforementioned jurisdictions, while the European Union and other members of the Atlantic coalition remain silent, close their eyes… or else say they look the other way after having raided this systematic violation that claims human lives and natural life, in order to obtain dividends linked to the so precious and desired black gold.
It is for the reasons explained above that at the beginning of June 2022, a brigade of internationals made up of citizens from four European states, the United States of America and Australia have joined forces with the aim of breaking the embargo imposed especially in this area. With this: to know in detail the development of the different communes in as many municipalities as possible, as well as the fundamental tools and practices of consolidation and growth of the development and application of an ecologism and radically democratic popular administrations, in addition to the achievements and feminist empowerment movements, in order to achieve to cut all kinds of inequality.
After the arrival of the Brigade (in which we are three citizens of the Spanish State), it was on June 6 when the decision was made to enter Rojavâ.
According to the relevant authorities and after our legal steps to follow in order to obtain an entry that would guarantee the program to be carried out in the field during the following three weeks, the Regional Government of Iraqi Kurdistan rejected our entry. We consider, directly, that it is an inhuman violation of our rights as citizens, but the point to be shared is our denunciation of being denied the right to bring the word of resistance of the People of Rojava to our states and our people.
However, the next steps to be taken are aimed at continuing the search for ways to break the embargo and to know closely to what extent the economic, food, medicine or construction material blockade violates the realization of all human life, together with the military activities of the Turkish Army and the accesses that it creates to activate supposed Islamist cells that attack the population of the Commune.
Therefore and as a final point, we wish that this message is publicized as much as possible, activating the maximum journalistic links/RRSS, and that the denunciation of the embargo imposed on the basis of the diffusion of the constant violations of human rights, of which the West is absolutely complicit, subject to the silence before these crimes that the neo-Ottoman dictatorship of Erdogan – with the help of his palmeros of the Barzani dynasty – carries out.
As much as it is in your hands, from the Brigade of Solidarity with Rojava, we ask you to activate mobilizations and denunciations. From your neighborhoods and villages, from your workplaces or study places, from trade unions and political parties, we ask you to make emphasis on the maximum dissemination to the potentially larger media.
We are moving forward, the Brigade of Solidarity with Rojava and the Kurdish people is moving forward. We continue our efforts to reach Rojava. Especially now, the blockade of medical resources has meant limiting measures in the face of the global pandemic situation and the entry of more professionals in the field of health and virology has been denied.
We will emphasize as many times as necessary that the nature of peoples is not resistance. The nature of peoples and their people is freedom.
Let us break the silence. Let us break the embargo.
In Solidarity,
SEFTEKIN!”
