News Center – On June 8, JINNEWS Editor-in-Chief Safiye Alagaş, JINNEWS Editor-in-Chief Gulşen Koçuk, Dicle Firat Journalists Association (DFG) Co-Chair Serdar Altan, and Xwebûn Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Ali Ertaş, Mesopotamia Agency (MA) editors Aziz Oruç and journalists Omer Çelik, Suat Doguhan, Ramazan Geciken, Esmer Tunç, Neşe Toprak, Zeynel Abidin Bulut, Mazlum Dooganan Güler, Mehmet Şahin, Elif Ungur, Koybrahim Koyuncu, Mehmet Yalçiyen , Abdurrahman Oncu, Lezgin Akdeniz, Kadir Bayram and Feynaz Koçuk and Îhsan Ergulen were detained and testified in court after 8 days of detention.
Journalists were arrested
JINNEWS Director Safiye Alagaş, DFG Co-Chair Serdar Altan, MA Editor Aziz Oruç, Editor-in-Chief of Xwebûn Newspaper Mehmet Ali Ertaş and Zeynel Abidin Bulut, Omer Çelik, Mazlum Dooganan Güler, Koybrahim Koyuncu, Neşe Toprak, Elif Ung Abdurrahman Oncu, Suat Doguhan, Remziye Temel, Ramazan Geciken, Lezgin Akdeniz and Mehmet Şahin, who were referred to the Court of Appeals, were arrested.
Journalists Esmer Tünç, Mehmet Yalçinn, Kadir Bayram, Feynaz Koçuk and Îhsan Ergulen were released on bail.
The decision was condemned
Journalists and families stood in front of the courthouse, chanting slogans such as “Free press cannot be silenced”, “We will overcome resistance” and “Resistance is life”.
DFG co-chair Dicle Muftuoglu said he was once again facing lawlessness, noting that 16 of his colleagues had only been arrested for their journalistic work, adding: “By all the methods you have been trying since the 1990s, you did not succeed. You can not succeed with these operations either. With the same decisions you will not be able to deprive our colleagues of their freedom. We do not accept this decision and we will continue our activities until our friends are released. ”

Dicle Muftuoglu announced that he would condemn the decision in front of the DFG at 13.00 today and called on all those who are not supporters of press freedom to take action.
