ENGLAND – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced last April that from 1 January 2022, anyone who enters the UK illegally will be sent and resettled in Rwanda. The conservative Johnson government had promised to help Rwanda develop in exchange for refugees.
Despite the strong opposition from the opposition, non-governmental organizations and the United Nations, the Johnson government has completed all the preparations for the implementation of this plan in recent weeks. Within the framework of the plan accepted by the Rwandan government, the first group of 30 migrants will be sent to Rwanda by air on Tuesday, June 14th.
‘ENGLAND CAN SEND AS MANY IMMIGRANTS AS IT WANTS’
The Raunda government, which will receive financial aid for every immigrant it receives, announced that it looks very warm to the plan.
Speaking to the British media, an official from the Ministry of Justice in Raunda said, “In accordance with the agreement we made within the framework of friendship, the UK can send as many people as it wants. We have enough capacity for this, this number may be ten thousand,” he said.
Immigrants who have arrived in the UK illegally since the new year will apply for asylum in Rwanda from now on. Those who receive a positive response will be given a 5-year support package with all the rights to work, live, health and education in Rwanda with the support of the British government. Those whose asylum application is rejected will be presented with three options; Experiencing immigrant status in Rwanda, going to their home country or being sent to another country where they have the right of residence.
JOHNSON: HUMAN Smugglers WILL EAT A BIG BLOCK
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson welcomed the British court’s approval of the plan. Making a statement on his virtual media account on Saturday, Johnson said, “We must stop giving opportunities to human traffickers, this plan will hit them hard.” Johnson claimed that Rwanda, located in eastern Africa, is “one of the safest countries in the world” and that the immigrants to be sent here will live in safety and prosperity.
But contrary to Johnson’s words, human rights organizations do not give the Rwandan government a good report. It is stated that the government puts pressure on opposition groups and homosexuals in particular. Likewise, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, which strongly opposes the plan to send migrants to Rwanda, draws attention to the fact that the UK escaped its responsibility to provide asylum with this plan and violated the Refugee Convention.
