SHENGAL – Since the agreement made between Iraq, Turkey and KDP, the 9 of October agreement, there were many attempts to end the autonomy of the Yezedi people and get their self-defense forces dismantled. However, most of the attacks came from the turkish fascists state, targeting the commanders of YBŞ-YJŞ on drone attacks, the positions of the YBŞ-YJŞ on airstrikes with war planes and even targeting the centers of civil council of the region.
Today, around 1am the clashes started, and the Iraqi army tried to cross into Sinan early in the morning with a large force. The war broke out once again because the Yezidi Security Forces were attacked on checkpoints and the fighting is still going on. The Iraqi army is trying to force its way from the Turkish side to the Sinun valley. The Yezidi Security Forces responded to the attacks by YBŞ-YJŞ fighters.
Earlier in the day, the Iraqi army crossed into Medeban and the Sinjar-West Kurdistan border in a convoy of 25 armored vehicles. The convoy of vehicles also included tanks and heavy weapons. Yesterday the people also witnessed a brief skirmish in the Sinjar region near the Iraqi army positions and the Iraqi army was forced to withdraw from the area.
The Iraqi army closed several checkpoints of the Yezidi Security Forces, YBŞ and YJŞ in Sinjar on 18 April, leading to fighting. Many meetings have been held in recent days in both Baghdad and Sinjar to resolve the issue, but the Iraqi army has insisted on a policy of siege and attack.
