CENTRAL NEWS – Postwar history perhaps two of the movements against which the German state mobilized its forces the most. Exemplary for this are the construction of Stammheim and the construction of the so-called Düsseldorfer Käfig for these trials in which on the basis of some a whole movement should be condemned.
The international plot against Rêber APO, in which he was forced to leave Syria in the fall of 1998 and which led to an odyssey throughout Europe and involved more than 30 countries worldwide, was an attempt to contain his influence after plans to attack him with explosives, as in May 1996, had failed. Already in the early 1990s, the KRG was founded in northern Iraq not out of philanthropy towards Kurds or as a reaction to the suffering under Saddam, but in order to limit the sphere of influence of the Kurdish freedom movement through collaboration of the feudal clan structures with the KDP and YNK parties and to prevent a spillover of this revolutionary spark to the entire Middle East, which would have been equivalent to a second October Revolution in terms of significance. That is why we have seen massive NATO support in the fight against the guerrillas in Kurdistan since the 1980s.
The aim of the International Plot was therefore to render the movement harmless or to liberalize it and bind it to the system in order to prevent its influence on other revolutionary movements. From the beginning, its internationalist character was seen as a great danger by the system. While with the fall of the Soviet Union the end of ideologies and the ultimate victory of capitalism was proclaimed, it did not fit into the concept that in Kurdistan socialism was insisted on and with democratic socialism a new stage of struggle was reached. In short, despite great difficulties and dangers, the Kurdish Freedom Movement succeeded in developing and raising the struggle to a completely new level with the New Paradigm that Rêber APO describes in its fullness in the Democratic Civilization Manifesto (5 volumes). Also, the struggle of the guerrillas and the people intensified once again in the 2000s and the fascist Turkish state was pushed into a corner several times to such an extent that it was forced to make certain concessions. Something that NATO viewed with concern and provided Turkey with military and financial aid of all kinds. With the focus on technology and special warfare (drugs, prostitution, massive incarceration, etc.) in recent years, the entire Kurdish society is to be attacked and its bonds of solidarity destroyed and the society in Turkey is to be frightened so much that it does not revolt. The last great uprising at the Gezi protests in 2013, which terrified dictator Erdogan, continues to draw repression in full force to this day.
With the revolution in Rojava, which illuminated the darkness of the region in the summer of 2012 and quickly became a fire of hope brought the almost forgotten struggle and the fate of the Kurds, still unknown to many people around the world until then, once again on the agenda. Besides all the achievements, it showed the world and the revolutionary forces worldwide that revolution was still possible, contrary to all the propaganda of the system. In a world where fascism is once again spreading at breakneck speed. Many people were inspired by the revolution in Rojava and many made their way to Rojava to fight, learn and support. With the revolution in Rojava, the struggle of the Kurdish freedom movement reached a new level and with it the internationalism of the revolution. Today we are at a point that the revolution in Rojava will soon celebrate its 10th anniversary. 10 years of liberated territories, 10 years that are entirely in the spirit of building a revolutionary alternative to the system. And this despite the daily attacks by the fascist Turkish state, NATO, the IS, the Syrian regime and Kurdish collaborators. And despite, in relation to the importance of the revolution in the global context and the historical extent, low solidarity by the worldwide left!
“Alliance with the U.S.” that makes the revolution an imperialist pawn is result of the weakness of the worldwide left, chauvinism and transfiguration of reality.
If the choice is between complete annihilation and the possibility of defending the existence of your people, which would you choose? If the global left had been stronger and quicker on the scene with arms deliveries and pressure on NATO and Turkish fascism, maybe everything would have turned out very differently. And it is not too late to learn from these mistakes and not to repeat them. Because the struggle in Kurdistan concerns us all. If the revolution in Rojava falls, the hope that was born all over the world will be extinguished again and weaken all struggles. What is happening right now in the free mountains of Kurdistan, despite the hourly use of combat drones and chemical weapons, is the legendary and historic resistance of the guerrillas. A guerrilla that was never just Kurdish. It is perhaps to this extent the world’s largest internationalist guerrilla. Besides Kurds, hundreds if not thousands of Arabs, Turks and fighters from many European countries and even other parts of the world are fighting there. This internationalist resistance should be broken in order to say that guerrilla is not a method by which the oppressed of this world, the damned of this world can fight for their liberation.
A resistance in which in the last years several German guerrilla fighters like Şehîd Sara, Şehîd Bager and Şehîd Şiyar gave their lives for our freedom. The aim is to destroy the hope of putting an end to socialism once and for all. They want to destroy the internationalist guerrilla of the 21st century that is developing in the mountains of Kurdistan. We must prevent this. NOW! Because it concerns all of us, it has an enormous impact on the struggles of all of us. If the revolution in Kurdistan falls, the few remaining revolutionary struggles in the world will also be wiped out afterwards. Kurdistan has a fulminate importance not only geographically, but also in an ideal sense. (In this sense, every internationalist is welcome to join the guerrillas in the mountains of Kurdistan).
That is why we must act and act quickly. What is at stake is nothing less than the defense of worldwide socialism, the defense of hope, the defense of freedom.
While the system is trying to do all the dirty operations in the shadow of the war in Ukraine and, if possible, to bring all the movements in the West in line and, in this course, to strengthen and reorganize NATO, giving it more importance, it is important not to fall into this trap, which was already set for the left in the First World War. We must not lose sight of the strategic tasks of this period.
Representations and places of Turkish fascism are everywhere, do not leave them in peace. We must fulfill our internationalist duty towards the revolution. Because our existence is connected with it, the success of the revolution in Kurdistan will bring a democratization of the Middle East and prepare the way for the world revolution.
Therefore, it is time to act. We must break the total isolation over Rêber APO, who created this movement and dedicated his whole life to this struggle, in Imrali prison island and free him physically. We must not leave a quiet hinterland to Turkish fascism and its collaborators. We must organize ourselves, in small groups, small cells, constantly in action. The war in Kurdistan is in a phase of to be or not to be. Either Turkish fascism and with it NATO will win and plunge the Middle East into even greater chaos after Afghanistan and Iraq and bring IS to renewed strength, or we will win and come one step closer to the liberation of all the oppressed.
A common front against fascism, as it was built with HBDH already in 2016 together with Turkish revolutionaries must be thought even further. Turkish fascism, fascism in general, are a danger for the free coexistence of peoples everywhere.
In this sense, let’s confront fascism with the militant spirit of the youth. To action. To the struggle.
