SHENGAL – After the soldiers led by Iraq’s Kazimi government attacked Şengal on the night of May 02 and massive armed clashes broke out, it has calmed down the situation somewhat. However, Iraqi soldiers are still besieging the self-ruled Şengal region. The people of Şengal are therefore organizing actions to drive the soldiers out of their region.

The main demand of the people of Şengal and the êzidi population is that the Kazimi troops stationed in the settlements do not attack villages and towns with heavy weapons again. Although the Iraqi army withdrew from some settlements due to public reaction, they continue to exist in many villages and towns.

THEY ATTACK THE PROTESTING PEOPLE

The Iraqi army attacked the people who were protesting in Duhol district in Şengal.

The protest tent erected by the people in Duhol was destroyed by Kazimis forces. The platforms in the protest tent were broken and attempts were made to evict the people from the tent. Tension continues in Duhol due to the Kazimi forces’ attack on the people.
