BEHDÎNAN – Headquarters Commander of NPG Murat Karayılan, said that with the support of NATO Gladio and modern technology, chemical weapons banned worldwide were used against them, but still a historical resistance was produced and drew public attention to the importance of protecting this resistance. He stated:
“Both our people and all our friends should know that this work is difficult. It is an example of great sacrifice, it is not an ordinary situation to resist the bombardment and chemical attacks of the brutal enemy 24 hours a day. Words are not enough to express it.”
The commander of the People’s Defense Center (NPG) headquarters, Murat Karayılan, spoke by radio to the guerrilla forces fighting in Zap against the invasion attack of the Turkish army, which started again in April this year. He shared the important information about the resistance of HPG and YJA Star guerrillas.
Karayılan stated that recently gangs consisting of Kurds and Arabs were sent to the war front and that the Turkish occupation army might use more gas in the near future, he gave important perspectives to the guerrilla forces to deepen and strengthen the resistance.
Karayılan started his speech by saying “I greet you all with love and respect in the name of the chairman of our movement”, further Karayılan drew attention to the May martyrs who hold an important place in the Kurdistan freedom movement and said “On the occasion of May, the month of martyrs, all May martyrs were honored in the person of comrade Haki Karer by the entire Kurdistan revolution. I commemorate the martyrs of Zap and Avaşîn in the person of comrades Mizgîn, Rohat, Rêber and Viyan and I respectfully bow to their memories. By repeating the promise we made to them, be assured, our promise to them will not stand still, we will never drop the flag they handed over by raising the freedom struggle of Kurdistan, so we will take revenge on for them. With the free chairman, we will immortalize them in our free march for Kurdistan. We say that our promise to them on this basis, will form the basis of victory for the future.”
Karayılan stated that 40 days have already passed since the invasion attack of the Turkish occupying state on April 17, 2022, and said, “There is historical resistance in Zap and Werxelê areas. We know that this was carried out with great effort. Thanks to the efforts and sacrifices of the heroic martyrs and you, the historical resistance continues for so long in the style of victory. We know that the enemy we face is no ordinary one. Our enemy is racist, fascist and barbaric. However, he is as cowardly and despicable as he is fascist and barbaric.”
“A new page in the history of mankind is opening”
NPG headquarters commander Murat Karayılan said that with the support of NATO Gladio and modern technology, banned chemical weapons were used against them worldwide, but there was still a historical resistance, “We also know that history has been written. A new page in human history is opening. Great sacrifices are made by you Hevals. Therefore, we salute and congratulate all Hevals. We know that your efforts, courage and sacrifices are not common in the Zap area.”
Murat Karayılan stated that not only a new golden page has been written in the history of Kurdistan but also a new page has been written in the history of war and said, “In the history of war of mankind, innovations are taking place today in the Zap area in the territory of Kurdistan. Against modern technology, against all the weapons of capitalist modernity, the will shown there is human victory, human skill, human courage. They show the whole world what human will can do against modern technology and how to achieve success. Therefore, the resistance is very important.”
Murat Karayılan recalled that 300 Spartan Greek warriors, who took a place in the history of mankind, also resisted the Persian Empire for days and created an epic, saying, “By stopping the entire army, they leave traces in the history of war and the history of mankind. This is how the resistance of 300 Spartans went down in history.”
“Apoist women and men act and operate with the consciousness of Rêber Apo”.
Murat Karayılan, commander of the NPG headquarters, pointed out that the Apoist warriors were different from the 300 Spartans and that they consisted of men and women: “Apoist women and men act and are trained with the consciousness of Rêber Apo, thus forming the heroines and heroes of the time. The epic 300 Spartan warriors dealt heavy blows to the Persian Empire. However, the lions of Zap not only create epics, they will also win victories with their methods of resistance. They develop a new process in the history of resistance. The last 40 days show this truth.”
Murat Karayılan emphasized that the resistance was not against an ordinary army and enemy and continued his words as follows:
“The Turkish state, acting with the mindset of the Committee for Unity and Progress, is trying to bring the peoples of the region, especially the Arab people, under its control by spreading the policy of genocide throughout Kurdistan. They are resisting the above-mentioned racism, unity and progress and Turanism, which is a great danger for the Kurdish people and all the peoples of the region. You are not only protecting the Rêkanî and Nêrweh areas in the Zap there. It is true, you are defending it, it is the sacred land, but you are defending the entire land in southern Kurdistan over the protection of the Rêkanî and Nêrweh areas.
You defend the status in the south of Kurdistan. At the same time, you defend the people of Kurdistan, the achievements of Kurdistan, the existence and freedom of the people of Kurdistan. The resistance that is developing in the Zap against the mentality of unity and progress is also the resistance of the Arab people, the people of the entire region. The resistance that is being put up for the existence and freedom of the Assyrian-Syrian, Arab, Turkish, Persian and Kurdish people is of great importance. This resistance rises on the basis of democratic nation and internationalism.
45 years ago, our great internationalist comrade Haki Karer fell in Kurdistan, shedding his blood and thus forming the basis of the party and the struggle. 37 years ago, our friend Aziz Ereb or Nadir Şêx Hesen fell in the Botan region of Kurdistan as Şehids. The internationalist wave in Kurdistan was formed on these foundations. Today, the successors of Haki Karer and the successors of Aziz Ereb, are our Arab comrades and they are personally in Zap resistance. On this occasion, I salute the international resistance of our Arab Hevals and wish them success.”
Call to the women of Kurdistan, all women, youth and peoples of the region: join the struggle for freedom
Karayılan stated that the ongoing resistance in the Zap is a message and a call for all, and said that this resistance includes a message to all Kurdish youth, women of Kurdistan, all women, youth and peoples of the region. Murat Karayılan stressed that Zap is a call to “join the war of freedom” and continued, “However, it is also a voice, a call to all humanity. Today in Behdînan, in the Zap area, in the land of the Rêkanî and Nêrwehans, something new is developing, a great will is rising and an example of courage against the barbarism of the times. This unusual situation is a call to all. It is a call to everyone who has a conscience and says to himself that he, she is a patriot, a democrat, a democrat and defends the fraternity of peoples. Therefore it is very meaningful, it is carried out with great will. Just as Rêber Apo has withstood and resisted the Imrali torture system for 24 years with great will and patience, we as students of Rêber Apo must represent this understanding in the mountains of Kurdistan throughout Kurdistan. They are representing it today. Therefore, everyone respects this resistance very much. First of all, we, the leadership and all friends, our people and our Hevals show great respect for the sacred resistance. The resistance followed with great excitement and enthusiasm attracts everyone’s attention.
The history of resistance made is very meaningful in ideological, philosophical and political terms. Although the spiritual and meaningful aspect is great, a person cannot succeed without sacrifice, skill, great will, and creativity. If this had not been the case, the ongoing resistance would not have reached this historic level today. We know that this is not easy, we are not far from this reality. Both our people and all our hevals must know that this work is hard. It is an example of great sacrifice, it is not an ordinary situation to resist the bombardment and chemical attacks of the brutal enemy 24 hours a day. Words are not enough to express it. Even the definitions of great will, great patience, great courage remain incomplete in expression. The resistance shown expresses a situation that is above all this. That is how great their resistance is.
We know very well how the Hevals sacrificially continue this holy resistance. This is very high and significant. Human life truly represents an innovation in the history of human struggle. This should be known by everyone. We want our hevals in the resistance to know that we are aware of how they live. The breathless struggle is indeed not ordinary, it is great. The burden is heavy. In other words, the goal of defeating the second largest NATO army by holding them off for 40 days is not easy. First of all, it is a great claim, a great courage in itself.”
Despite sophisticated technology, they did not succeed in
Murat Karayılan, said that all commanders and fighters should know that they are doing historical and important work, and turned to the fighters, in the resistance, especially in Girê Sor, and said:
“The work done is characterized by great will, great hevaltî (cooperativeness) to Rêber Apo and apoist spirit of sacrifice, creativity and depth in tactics. If they are not equipped with rich methods of des, success is difficult. Therefore, as Girê Sor resistance fighters, you must know the value of each other by strengthening the Hevaltî among yourselves. Protect and develop each other, thus you can create great synergy.”
Murat Karayılan expressed that creativity in tactics is important and said, “As it turns out, the enemy forces are trying to improve their attack style. However, they have not been successful so far. They tried to advance with their high-tech support and technical attacks. It seems that they have prepared themselves on this basis. But because they lack this courage, they will not be able to do it directly.”
The Turkish occupying state, which used Kurdish and Arab gangs, again did not succeed.
Murat Karayılan pointed out that the Turkish occupation army has recently focused on attacks in Girê Cehenem, Şikefta Birîndara, Werxelê, Şehid Şahin and Kurojahro areas and conveyed the following information about the war on these fronts:
“They send dogs, they send Kurds because they cannot do it themselves. Unfortunately, dıe Hevals said that there were people who spoke Kurmancî and even Soranî in the attack on Girê Cehenem. Who are you? You have to be recognized. However, the Turkish state has always done that throughout its history. They call it “you kill dogs with dogs”. They want the Kurds to attack us. As it turns out, they gathered gangs from everywhere; There is an attempt to gather both Kurdish and Arab gangs and form a fighting force from them. This is how they attack. However, they still did not succeed.”
“Lead the resistance to victory”
“In other words, they are resorting too much to despicable methods. Our hevals must be wary of them. Here, it is necessary to deepen in the details. In action, it is necessary to focus on the details with intelligence, depth and great precision, and to add depth to the details when developing tactics. Details are very important.”
Murat Karayılan, the commander of the NPG headquarters, recalled that the Turkish army used everything it had and addressed the guerrilla forces regarding them war tactics:
“It seems that the enemy has no other method left. Therefore, we must take our precautions accordingly and develop revolutionary methods against the enemy on this basis. First of all, our tunnels are our castles. As history shows, there are underground castles today because those with strong castles succeeded by defending themselves against the great powers. These castles are tunnels. What we ask and expect from all Hevals is to deepen their existing experiences. Be empathetic. You must make yourselves a victorious force by improving your defenses. Do not limit yourself to resistance, lead the resistance to victory. To do this, the tunnel war must be waged with successful ways and methods. This must be implemented with subtle and deep methods.
We welcome our hevals in Avaşîn. Your resistance in Werxelê is good. However, you must turn the entire province of Avaşîn into a battlefield of teams. That is what we hope from you. We know that our hevals are focused on this issue. All areas are involved, it is not necessary to mention the names of other areas, but each and everyone should claim their duty early and form a resistance ring around the Zap resistance. Our people throughout Kurdistan support this. Our people outside and inside the country really support us with great sacrifices. This support is growing, their participation is growing and we believe that the Zap resistance will reach a new level.
Of course, just courage is not enough. Courage and sacrifice are essential, but alone they are not enough. Creativity requires an extraordinary level of skill. We know that many things belong to the essence of the Hevals, it is important to evaluate this essence based on the ideology of Rêber Apo. It is obvious that this essence is present in the sacrifice they have made so far. Just appreciate your value, defend yourselves and each other, cultivate communality and act consciously. Remember that you are driving the story, playing a big role, and will definitely ensure success. To succeed, you must defend yourselves and use creative tactics. On this basis, when depth and richness of tactics are created with the spirit of sacrifice, courage, creativity and consciousness of the apoists, success will be one hundred percent, success will be for you, us and our people. The victory will be democracy and freedom, the perspective of a democratic nation.
I believe this is the core of our Hevals. All that needs to be done is to be careful, focus on the role and mission, and develop long-term plans. We should know that the process ahead is long. Undoubtedly, we want to defeat the enemy as soon as possible. However, we must think of the war in the long term, plan accordingly, not tire ourselves prematurely, and not become the enemy’s target. We must act on the basis of long-term plans. The Hevals who develop resistance on these bases will become the pioneers of the times. With these feelings and thoughts, I once again greet all Hevals with love and respect and wish them success with revolutionary enthusiasm and consciousness.”
