HESEKÊ – Hundreds of people from Hesekê attended the funeral of Sema Agirîn and Zîlan Besê at the Dehîd Dijwar cemetery today. The two guerrilla fighters of YJA Star were killed by the use of chemical weapons by the Turkish occupying state in April this year in Zap area, in the resistance for the freedom of Kurdistan and the protection of Kurdish achievements.

The participants showed the pictures of the two martyrs and the flags of Chairman Abdullah Ocalan, as well as the defense units YPJ/YPG and Kongra Star.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the People’s Defense Units (YPG) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) made a military line-up in memory of the fallen.

Co-chair of the Assembly of Families of the Fallen of Hesekê, Selma Qasim, spoke at the ceremony and said:

“The resistance of our heroines and heroes in Zap, Avaşin and Metina will be victorious and the fascist Turkish state will be defeated. Because we have grown up on the basis of Chairman Öcalan’s thinking and philosophy and no one can stand against our forces and break their will. We promise to follow the way of the fallen to freedom until victory.”

Commander Avindar Derik, on behalf of the Cizre Region Military Council, drew attention to the Turkish occupation state’s attacks on southern Kurdistan and northern and eastern Syria, saying, “They will not be able to achieve their goal.”

Aye Keleş, a member of the Assembly of the Families of the Fallen, read out the identities of the two martyrs and handed them over to their families.

The People’s Defense Forces (HPG) Communications and Press Center yesterday released the identities of 8 guerrillas killed by chemical weapons attacks in the Çiya Reş area in the Zap region of the Medya Defense Areas. Among the names released were those of two YJA Star fighters Evîn Şêxo (Sema Agirîn) û Sîmav Hesen (Zîlan Besê).

At the ceremony, the father of the martyrs Sema Agirin said, “The Turkish occupying state is still attacking the Medya defense areas and northern and eastern Syria in order to destroy the will of the people in the region and revive the Ottoman state. But we promise to follow the path of the fallen until we secure victory.”

The ceremony ended with the slogans “The fallen do not die, long live Zap’s resistance, long live Rêber Öcalan’s resistance.”
