ERBIL – The so-called prime minister of the southern Kurdistan region, hegemonic stooge Mesrur Barzani, again targeted Şengal, where the Iraqi army launched an attack on April 18 with the support of the KDP and the Turkish occupation state. Mesrur Barzani issued a statement after the cabinet meeting in Hewler and demanded that Iraq turn to Şengal through the “Şengal Agreement”.
Masrour Barzani said:
“There were conflicts and problems between the groups that imposed themselves there and the Iraqi security forces. Apart from the withdrawal, they were producing more reinforcements from Syria and facing each other. At the same time, we saw that thousands of Şengalese moved to the Kurdistan Region and had to migrate because of the unhealthy security conditions there. For this reason, we emphasize that the Şengal agreement should be implemented and the Iraqi government must fulfil its responsibilities in this regard so that those who migrated to the Kurdistan Region can return to their homes without hindrance.”
After the Iraqi army attacked the Yezidi security forces and defense units and armed clashes broke out in the Şengal region, many families, fearing another massacre, fled to the southern Kurdistan region, where refugee camps inhabited mainly by Yezidi refugees have been located since the massacre attacks by IS gangs. Despite many calls from the administration of the Şengal Autonomous Region, these refugees have not gone back to their homes until today, due to the insecure situation and the attacks that Şengal is repeatedly exposed to by Iraqi soldiers and the Turkish occupying state.
After the Iraqi soldiers under the Kazimi government, which is obviously acting in the interest of the Turkish occupying state and with the will of the KDP and Barzanî families, who have sided with the Turkish occupying state and are supporting the attacks on Şengal, Masrour Barzanî is now trying to exploit the flight of the êzidi families for his own purposes because of the threat scenario that his family clan has built up.
