BEHDINAN – The guerrilla fighters in the South Kurdish regions of Zap and Avaşîn are fiercely resisting Turkish attempts to occupy the regions. Actions take place every day using a variety of tactics. The fighters talk over the radio in the tunnels and in mobile units in the Şehîd Şahîn combat area about their situation and how they are resisting the chemical weapons attacks and the countless air raids.
“We owe our people so much”
The guerrillas said: “As resistance fighters in Şehîd Şahîn, we salute all friends who are making history in Şikefta Birîndara, Kuro Jahro, Çiyayê Reş and Werxelê and the revolutionary offensive Bazên Zagrosê [Falcon of Zagros] and wish them even greater successes. We respectfully salute our patriotic people who stand up wholeheartedly for the guerrillas, day and night. This attitude is a great source of morale for us. As children of these people, we owe them so much. As their sons and daughters, we promise this, we will definitely bring prosperity to our people in spite of all the difficulties we face today. Our people deserve this success.”
“Guerrillas have developed a great spirit of invention”
The guerrillas added: “We have Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan], we have you, our worthy people and we have our martyrs. The source of our strength, will and morality is deep. In fact, the success of this war is already certain. Rêber Apo says: ‘Military work is an honorable task, but the colonial states do not have that honor.’ The force fighting against us today in Zap and Avaşîn is not a Turkish military; it is a force of NATO. Because they are afraid of the guerrillas, they entrench themselves in their positions behind reconnaissance planes, drones, surveillance cameras, alarm systems, sensors, radar and many other technologies. This is how they try to protect themselves. At the same time, huge explosions are being carried out against war tunnels and chemical weapons are being used. They tie lamps and cameras to the heads of animals, especially dogs, and send them down the tunnels. Since the Turkish troops are repeatedly hit very hard from the war tunnels, they suffer heavy losses. They cannot retrieve the bodies, they helplessly throw their dead into the gorges. That’s why they use poison gas against the tunnels. But the ingenuity of the guerrillas has also developed countermeasures.”
“Various types of chemical warfare agents are used here”
The guerrillas continued: “In the Şehîd Şahin resistance area, we resist all forms of attack in the war tunnels. The enemy uses different types of poison gas here. It has different colours. We have the corresponding recordings here to document the operation. It gets stuck in the clothes and hair of friends here. However, we have also taken our options and taken appropriate measures to counteract this. No matter how difficult the conditions for apoists, no matter how slim the opportunities, we know that a tomorrow of liberation awaits our people and Rêber Apo. This awareness compensates for every difficulty for us. We receive the greetings of our friends, and this inspires great joy and passion in us.
We are trying to try even harder and thus do justice to the feelings of our comrades and their greetings. We repeat again, it is already clear who will succeed in this war, it is the guerrillas! Rêber Apo and our party are closer to us than ever, they are with us, they are in our hearts and in our consciousness. With the strength that we draw from Rêber Apo, we fight and live. We already congratulate our leadership and our people on the success of the guerrillas.”
