DERSIM – Kurdish woman revolutionary Aysel Doğan, who became a martyr on May 11 due to cancer she contracted in prison, was bid farewell to Dersim with a ceremony held in Cologne.
The funeral of martyred Aysel Doğan is being bid farewell to her last journey in her hometown of Dersim. The crowd, which was blocked by the occupying police at the city entrance, started a sit-in.
Aysel Doğan, who was welcomed by the people of Dersim at the Seyidli Bridge on the Mazgirt highway, was stopped at the checkpoints along the way. After the welcome, Aysel Doğan’s body was set off to be taken to her home in the Gazik District of Dersim centre. At the checkpoint at the entrance of Turişmek Mahallesi, the convoy and the funeral vehicle were stopped by hundreds of occupying police. The invading police are not allowed to bring the corpse to the house in Gazik District. Hundreds of people started a sit-in at the checkpoint when the invading police demanded that the body be taken to the Asri Cemetery.
The action started by the crowded group on the highway continues.
