IRAN – According to the official news agency Irna, “shrine defender” Sayad Khodayari was killed by two men on motorbykes who shot at him on Mujahidin-e Islam street.
The term “shrine defender” refers to people working for the Islamic Republic of Iran in Syria and Iraq.
The Revolutionary Guards later said in a statement that the person killed was a “colonel”. The Revolutionary Guards argued that it was a “terrorist act” perpetrated by “elements of global arrogance”, referring to the United States and its alliances.
It was stated that Seyyad Hudayi was targeted while he was on his way to his home at around 4 pm on Sunday. He was hit by five bullets. Iranian President Ibrahim Reisi announced that they would “take revenge” for the murder of the colonel.
