ISTANBUL – Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Tevgera jinên Azad (Free Women’s Movement-TJA), invading Turkish state and collaborator KDP’s Zap in Basûrê Kurdistan, Avaşîn and Metîna came together in Tünel Square to protest against the invasion attack.
The crowd marched in Istiklal Square, holding placards in their hands, chanting “No to war, peace right now” and applauding. The marching crowd was besieged by the fascist police in front of the Russian Consulate. Despite the blockade, many people continued to shout slogans.
‘AKP will give account!’
HDP’s Sezai Temelli, who made a statement within the blockade, stated that the war is poverty and caused the death of children and called on everyone to be on the side of peace. In response to the attitude of the fascist police, who wanted to intervene in the statement within the blockade, the crowd often responded by chanting “No war, peace right now” and “The day will come, the AKP will give an account to the people”.
‘Bijî Berxwedana Zapê’ slogans were chanted in Istanbul
Dozens of HDP Youth Assembly members, who were cut off, wanted to continue their march with slogans such as “Be Serok Jiyan Nabe”, “Biji Berxwedana Zapê”, “Biji Berxwedana Avaşînê”, “HDP is hope, hope is standing tall” and “Biji Berxwedana Zindana”. The young people, who were blocked by the fascist police, continued their march in the side streets from Istiklal Street.
During the march, ESP Co-Chair Şahin Tümüklü, ÖHD lawyer Veysi Eski and many HDP district administrators were taken hostage.
While it was learned that many young people who were marching at different points were taken hostage at Tünel Square, Galatasaray Square and Ömer Hayyam Street by the fascist police, it was stated that the fascist police left the area by putting the young people in civilian vehicles while they were being taken hostage. There was no information about who the young people were taken hostage.
After the march, HDP Istanbul Provincial Organization was besieged by the fascist police.
