CENTRAL NEWS – The Youth movement made a open call to all people to join the next demonstration that will take place on the 23rd of April, the date the marks the anniversary of a year since the last large-scale invasion of Kurdistan, when turkish fascists state used chemical weapons against the guerrilla position in Zap, Metina, Avashin.
The Youth took to the streets as a new operation was launched in the same locations on the 17th of April of this year and earlier in the 20th of April greeted the traitor and minister of the KRG, Masrur Barzani as he was meeting with british authorities in London to talk about economic and military support.
The call can be read as it follows:
“URGENT CALL TO DEMONSTRATION!
STOP TURKISH FASCISM
IN SOUTH KURDISTAN AND ROJAVA
As of 14th April, the AKP-MHP government in Turkey led by Erdogan initiated its expansionist policy of occupation and genocide via series of airstrikes and howitzer attacks in the Zap and Avaşîn regions of South Kurdistan, several villages of Til Temir in Rojava, and the wider Medya Defence Zones. These targeted attempts to suppress Kurdish forces in the region are, once again, sign of the Turkish state’s long-term military operations to threaten the democratic alternative being advanced in Rojava and the surrounding regions, where Kurdish freedom fighters are leading efforts for the construction of a women’s-led, ecological society.
The Turkish state has historically exercised hegemonic oversight over the Middle East, making continuous efforts for military and political control via proxy governments and relationships. The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in the Kurdistan Region in Iraq has conveniently served as an essential ally to Turkey, meanwhile the Turkish state commits countless heinous crimes against humanity every day in Kurdistan and the Middle East. The Barzani-led KDP, which bases its political structure on feudal, familial ties, has never hesitated in turning its back on the Kurdish people – a significant majority of whom in Iraq (South Kurdistan) suffer from dire social and economic conditions as a result of the failures of proxy capitalism to fulfil the population’s basic needs and rights.
For nearly 50 years, the Kurdish freedom movement has struggled against NATO-led imperialism in the Middle East, not least against the KDP-backed aggressive Turkish regime. Basing its ultimate strength on the self-determination of the people via grassroots organisation, the movement successfully defeated Daesh and reactionary groups in Rojava in the last 10 years and diminished the hopes of the Turkish state to advance into Kurdistan and the Middle East and realise its dream of becoming the untouchable hegemon of the region.
After several meetings between Erdogan and the Barzani family, the green light was given to the Turkish Armed Forces in the recent days to conduct military operations via land and air against the Kurdistan freedom guerrilla. The Barzani family’s history of betrayal of the Kurdish people and their willingness to surrender Kurdish self- determination in favour of a proxy status within the self-destructive system of capitalist modernity is equally an overt sign of their violent interests as it is sign of support for the blood-thirsty neo-imperialist project of the Turkish state in the Middle East.
Our freedom fighters have demonstrated immense efforts to contain the brutal attempts of the Turkish-KDP alliance to threaten Kurdish autonomy in the greater region. The struggle of the Kurdish people for self-determination combines an armed struggle for self-defence with an ideological alternative to life, namely a system of democratic modernity as proposed by Abdullah Öcalan, which has been the only successful model of progressive society after the shortcomings of ‘actually existing socialism’ in the late 20th century.
Our call is on all Apoist women and youth, the Kurdish people, and their friends, to join us on Saturday 23rd April, at 4PM in front of the BBC (Portland Place) for a mass demonstration, to condemn the Turkish state’s aggression in South Kurdistan and Rojava, and to expose the KDP’s active role in the perpetration of violence against civilians and the ecology in these regions.
The only way is constant revolution, and constant victory!
