QAMISHLI – The two parties of the intra-Kurdish dialogue varied in terms of preparation for the resumption of unity negotiations between the Syrian Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK) and the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS) called on by Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The negotiations, kicked off two years ago with the aim to unify the political stance of the Syrian Kurds, had insuperable obstacles in the way.
On Saturday, a well-informed US source told North Press that Matthew Pearl, US Department of State representative in NE Syria, was attempting to bring together the negotiators and accelerate the wheel of talks to reach a fundamental agreement.
Nasreddin Ibrahim, secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria (al-Parti) and member of the PYNK delegation to the intra-Kurdish negotiations told north Press that in early April the ENKS met Pearl in order to discuss the resumption of the intra-Kurdish dialogue.
“We affirmed to Pearl our readiness to resume the intra-Kurdish talks,” Ibrahim said.
Ibrahim noted to the importance of the success of the negotiations for them as well as for the American guarantor as it will lead to the formation of a supreme Kurdish reference that can find a solution for many troubles between the two sides.
Since mid-December 2020, the US envoy for Syria David Brownstein met the two blocs of the intra-Kurdish dialogue for several times and has stressed the US is insistent to accomplish the intra-Kurdish dialogue in Syria.
Previously, the Democratic Union Party (PYD) spokeswoman Sama Bakdash cited the US official as telling the two Kurdish blocs that “Kurdish unity in Syria is a strategic goal for the US which tries, through this dialogue, to involve the Kurds in the political process.”
Ibrahim unfolded that some atmospheres are currently being developed for this particular reason and also to improve relations between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and the Kurdistan Region Government (KRG) in Iraq.
On Sunday, Suleiman Oso, secretary of the Yekiti Kurdistan Party – Syria (PYKS) and member of the ENKS delegation told North Press they had already expressed to the US party and the SDF leadership their readiness for the resumption of the dialogue but with specific terms.
“Firstly, the pact must be published on social media. Secondly, the articles must be implemented,” he said in regard to the terms.
“We have yet to receive any response from the US party concerning the terms,” Oso said.
