NEWS CENTER – The so called “People’s Convoy” drove by California on Friday in protest of upcoming bills. The Assembly Bill 2223 by Wicks is one of the main bills that the convoy members have opposed in recent weeks. As the convoy drove by the neighborhood in Oakland, people blocked the road and threw eggs at the convoy. The convoy which started in Adelanto, CA in February, traveled across the country to Washington D.C. and back to California.
The convoy is inspired by the nationalist canadian so-called “freedom convoy” – which departed for Ottawa on 23 January – was the brainchild of James Bauder, an admitted conspiracy theorist who has endorsed the QAnon movement and called Covid-19 “the biggest political scam in history”. Demonstrators – many parked in some 400 heavy trucks and other vehicles on city streets around Parliament – have been warned they face arrest as well as having their trucks seized, their insurance suspended and bank accounts frozen. At that period Canada invoked an emergency law for the first time.
