CENTRAL NEWS – The cross-border operation launched by Turkey on April 23, 2021 continues with the cooperation of special forces affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). In the ambush set up by the special forces of the KDP in the Xelîfan region of the Federated Kurdistan Region on August 28-29, 2021, 5 HPG members lost their lives, and one of whom was injured, two HPG members survived. The remains of Nesrîn Temîr from YJA Star and Yusif İbrahim from HPG were also held by the KDP. Cizîre Region Martyrs’ Families Council staged a sit-in at Semalka Border Gate for 111 days, demanding that the remains be returned to the families. The Council which ended the demonstration, announced that its demonstrations would continue in different regions. One of the families participating in the sit-in was the Temîr family.

On November 11, 2017, Zozan Temîr (Zozan Cudî) from YJA STAR lost her life in an armed conflict with soldiers in the Besta region of Şırnak. Despite 5 years have passed, her remains were not released to her family. It was stated that her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery of the nameless in Şırnak. Since the family has just learned that their daughter has been laid to rest in the cemetery of the nameless, they have not yet taken the necessary steps to receive her remains. The remains of YJA STAR member Nesrîn Temîr, who was ambushed and lost her life by the KDP, has not been released to her family for nearly a year. The family said that they will continue their struggle until they receive the body of their daughter.
Evîn Temîr, sister of Nesrin and Zozan Temîr, stated that they will fight until they receive the bodies of their sisters.
THE SAME MENTALITY IN KDP AND TURKEY’
Evîn Temîr said, “The remains of one of my sisters has not been released for 5 years and the remains of my other sister has not been released to us for about a year. The KDP and Turkey have the same mentality. The KDP is hostile towards its own people. Kurdish children, who have paid a great price in this struggle, are now being murdered by the KDP. It is a shame that the KDP holds remains of these people’s children hostage of some kind. Both of my sisters had promised that they will not give up the struggle until freedom comes. I am proud of both of them. I will fight to get their remains.”
‘WE WILL STEP UP OUR DEMONSTRATIONS’
Protesing the KDP’s attitude, Temîr stated that the remains were held hostage and families were tortured. Noting that the KDP has not released the remains to the families since 1996, Temîr said, “The whole world knows very well that the remains are in the hands of the KDP. We started the sit-in at the Sêmelka Border Gate to collect the remains. Despite all the obstacles and weather conditions, we continued our demonstration for 111 days determindly. We also got great support. The demonstration may not be going on at the border right now, but we will continue our struggle with demonstrations in different places until we receive the remains.”
THE GOVERNMENT IS QUIET
Reminding that they held a march en masse in Qamishlo after they finished their demostration in Semelka, Temîr continued: “Despite all our efforts, no explaination has been made to us by the Federated Kurdistan Government until today. These hostile policies prolongue our suffering. How can the KDP do this to its own people?  We will continue our struggle no matter what. They will either relese the remains of our loved ones, or tell us where these remains are. This is not something to be dismissed with a flimsy statement. They say that they don’t have the remains and that we should go to Iran to look for them.”
