BEHDÎNAN – The statement from the HPG Press and Information Center reads as follows:
At 22:36 on 21 April, 9 attack helicopters and Skorsky type helicopters of the occupying Turkish army came from the Amediye-Derelok line, which is not under the control of the PDK, and dropped bombs on Kurojahro area. After bombing the area with helicopter gunships, Skorsky helicopters attempted to deploy their forces to the area, but our forces in the Kurojahro Resistance Area dropped these helicopters and shot them down.
The Turkish army brought in 10 more helicopters in the middle of the night and intensified the attack on this area. Our forces also attacked these helicopters and inflicted heavy casualties on one of the helicopters. A helicopter that was trying to land at the Syrian base in Sheladiz and evacuate the dead and wounded soldiers was attacked by our forces during takeoff.
Turkish military helicopters once again flew over areas under PDK control and attacked the Kurojahro Resistance Area. The Turkish military used attack helicopters and Skorsky-type helicopters, as well as a US CH-47 Chinook helicopter.
These extensive and heavy attacks on both the Kurojahro Resistance Area and the Zap region mean a new wave and level of occupier attack. “Our guerrilla forces and the fighting continue in this area.”
