BEHDÎNAN – The HPG press center has published in a written statement the identities of five fallen guerrilla fighters who died in the hostile operations that took place in 2019 in many areas in northern Kurdistan with the aim of destroying the freedom movement. The statement said, “Our comrades Karker and Xebat fell in Mêrdîn area, our comrade Armanc fell in Wan area, and our comrades Destiyar and Kato fell in Dersîm area.”
The HPG press center shared the following information about the fallen guerrillas:
“In 2019, the enemy carried out dozens of operations for destruction in many areas in northern Kurdistan and aimed at liquidating our guerrilla forces in the area. Our guerrilla forces carried out effective actions against these operations developed in almost all areas from Dersîm to Amanos, Serhat, Botan and Mêrdîn by effectively using the new era guerrilla tactics, the enemy took a step back. In these operations, our comrades Karker and Xebat, who dealt heavy blows to the enemy with their self-sacrifice and perseverance on the line of self-sacrifice, fell in the area of Mêrdîn Şehid, our comrade Armanc fell in the area of Wan and our comrades Destiyar and Kato fell in the area of Dersîm. These heroic martyrs who made a unique effort to unite our people, our freedom movement with our chairman. They have brought us closer to victory today with their sacrifice and struggle. We repeat once again the promise of our fallen comrades that we will succeed in their struggle, which they handed over to us to ensure victory.”

“Êlih, the insurgent city of Kurdistan, left its mark on the Kurdish freedom struggle with the countless revolutionaries it produced from its womb. Our comrade Karker, who was born in Êlih, where countless commanders and militants grew up, from Egîd (Mahsum Korkmaz), one of the symbolic commanders of our party, to Çiyager, who made history during the self-rule resistance in Sûr, also followed in the footsteps of these valuable commanders. Our comrade Karker, who made important contributions to our uninterrupted revolutionary struggle, was also a competent commander. Comrade Karker, who comes from a patriotic family that participated in the Kurdistan freedom struggle, lived in Êlih until his youth, when his family had to emigrate from Kurdistan due to enemy pressure. Although he knew our party before, he had the opportunity to get to know our party, PKK better when he started his youth work. He distinguished himself as an activist before joining the ranks of the guerrillas. As a Kurdish youth, he never compromised on his self-defense until he joined the guerrillas. After working in youth affairs for some time, he turned to the mountains of Kurdistan to more actively wage his struggle.
However, as part of his mission, he returned to work in the city and, after working for some time, he set off again for the mountains of Kurdistan in 2006, to which he belonged. Joining the ranks of the guerrillas, he joined the organization Hêzên Taybet (Special Forces of HPG) in order to better understand Rêber Apo and his philosophy of being a self-sacrificing militant in our struggle led by our martyrs and dedicating himself to the struggle in every way. Comrade Karker, who along with many of his fallen comrades, has been strongly committed to our struggle for victory, has gained important military and ideological experience. Our Comrade Karker, who passed on this knowledge to all his comrades as a leading commander, has earned the respect of all his comrades with his humble personality. Comrade Karker, who has been a self-sacrificing commander in every way, has fulfilled his revolutionary responsibility by going where it was needed without hesitation. From Rojava to Şengal, he participated in all the areas where the IS gangs attacked our people, fought in these areas with great effort and sacrifice, and made important efforts to break IS fascism. This time, after the IS gangs were largely defeated, he returned to the mountains of Kurdistan with a larger target. That many of his comrades had fallen, with whom he lived and fought during the intensive war practice and the more open implementation of the genocidal policy against our people and the continued isolation on Rêber Apo, which is our reason for existence, strengthened even more the will of our comrade Karker to fight in the north of Kurdistan. On this basis, our comrade Karker, who moved to Mêrdîn province in 2018, participated in the most difficult works in this area under all conditions and with his love for his people, his longing for the Chairman and his devotion, and stood up for his pioneer duties by doing his best for his comrades.”

XEBAT ÇEKDAR
“Our comrade Xebat was born in Wan in a patriotic and Kurdish family. Due to these characteristics of his family, he was brought up with the same consciousness and managed to preserve his essence in all conditions. Comrade Xebat, who was sensitive to the developments around him at a young age, became aware of the developments of our party in the 90s and started to develop a sympathy for the guerrillas. Our comrade Xebat began to better understand the reality of the enemy in the metropolises where he went to financially assist his family, with whom he stayed until his youth. In particular, the awareness of the subtle policy of the enemy to expose our people to genocide led our comrade Xebat to go on a search to join the struggle. He wanted to complete this quest by joining the guerrillas, which was his childhood dream and he took the necessary steps to do so. However, our comrade Xebat, who did not cut any corners for the freedom of our people, stayed in the social field for a while. He distinguished himself with his work achievements and managed to become an exemplary fighter. The imprisonment of our Chairman and the fact that our heroic martyrs went to war for the freedom of our people without a moment’s hesitation and took all possible costs upon themselves deeply influenced our comrade Xebat.
He considered the realization of the dreams of our martyrs and ensuring the physical freedom of our Chairman as a debt that must be rendered and he strove hard to fulfill these duties. After joining the ranks of the guerrillas, the communal lifestyle of our party and the cooperative relations of the guerrillas attracted his special attention and he immersed himself in these two qualities, which are the basis of the PKK, in a short time. Comrade Xebat, who has always focused on the military field since joining the ranks of the guerrillas, had no difficulty in absorbing and applying the tactics of guerrilla warfare. Especially after the IS gangs attacked Şengal, he fulfilled his revolutionary duties by being among the first groups to come to the aid of our êzidi people. Later, he returned to the mountains of Kurdistan and wanted to lead a more effective struggle in northern Kurdistan with the lessons he had learned from the self-government resistance. He wanted to avenge the martyrs like Çiyager, Zeryan, Mehmet Tunç, Sêvê and Pakize who did not kneel down to the enemy by making great sacrifices in the self-government resistance. He started his work in the north of Kurdistan with great self-sacrifice and dedication, where he went with such concentration. He took important responsibilities in many actions that were developed against the enemy and tried to make the best of the times of freedom that we lived through. Our comrade Xebat, who is an exemplary fighter for us with his warmth, sincerity, humility and immeasurable devotion to cooperativism, will always live on in our struggle.”

“Our comrade Armanc, originally from Sêrt, was born and raised in Istanbul as a member of a family that had to emigrate to the metropolises due to enemy pressure. Although our comrade was born and raised far away from Kurdistan, he has managed to maintain his strong commitment to Kurdish culture. Again, our comrade Armanc, who has always been sensitive to our war of freedom in Kurdistan, has become aware of the existence and the problem of freedom of the Kurdish society to which he belongs and the need to respond to the enemy’s genocidal policies. On this basis, our comrade Armanc, who was engaged in youth work for the first time, managed to achieve effective results, although he remained in this work only for a short time. He made a unique contribution by helping many young people to become aware of things and join the ranks of the guerrillas. He himself, by joining the ranks of the guerrillas, fulfilled the requirements of his pioneering mission and succeeded in being an exemplary fighter in this regard. When he joined the ranks of the guerrillas, he wanted to live a meaningful life and tried to educate himself in every way with this purpose in mind. After spending time in many areas in the south of Kurdistan, especially Metîna, Heftanîn, he moved to the Botan area where he had prepared for a long time. It was a unique effort to protect the values that our chairman and the heroic martyrs had brought to our people and to add new ones to these values. He always considered himself committed to his fallen comrades and made holding on to their memories his basic philosophy and mission in life. Our comrade Armanc, who managed to inspire all his comrades around him with his energetic structure, always raised the bar for success and envisioned new achievements in every work he was involved in. Comrade Armanc, who continues the freedom struggle that our party started by following the footsteps of our comrade and red star Ali Çiçek, who became a martyr by selflessly fighting against the enemy and will continue to be the torch of freedom for us comrades.”

DESTIYAR HELÎN – KATO QÊRS.
“Our comrades Destiyar and Kato dealt heavy blows to the enemy in the enemy operations that took place in Rabat area of Dersim in June 2019. In these operations, in which many occupiers were punished, our two comrades, who fought with a self-sacrificing style, managed to apply the war tactics of the new era in many ways. Organized as a small team, our two comrades fought to the last breath with an unwavering will of Apoyî despite all the heavy attacks of the enemy. In the clashes that broke out on June 19, when the enemy attacks intensified, the invading Turkish army bombed the area with fighter planes. In the bombardment, our comrade Kato fell and our comrade Destiyar was seriously injured. Nevertheless, the enemy soldiers could not enter the area where our comrades were for one day. The enemy, who could not enter the operation area until June 20, tried to capture our seriously wounded comrade Destiyar. Our comrade Destiyar, who made the line of our commander Zilan his way of life, responded to the enemy’s calls for surrender by blowing himself up with a bomb, showing the enemy once again that the apoist sacrifices will not surrender under any circumstances. Our comrades Kato and Destiyar, who continue the tradition of devotion for our party PKK with their resistance in the line of sacrifice, are the compass and line of struggle for all their comrades.
We extend our condolences to all our patriotic people in Kurdistan, especially to the cherished families of our comrades Karker, Xebat, Armanc, Destiyar and Kato who were devoted to our Chairman, our martyrs and our people with endless love and fought until their last breath.”
