CENTRAL NEWS – The documentary Tekoser. Il partigiano Orso, by director Dario Salvetti, will be screened in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on Sunday, April 19 at the Vondelbunker.
Lorenzo Orsetti (Orso-Tekoşer Pilîng) was an Italian internationalist who was killed in the fight against ISIS in Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan), on March 18, 2019.
Donations made on the day of the screening will go to the Lorenzo Orso Tekoşer Foundation.
The documentary, as the director himself said, “is strongly inspired by Lorenzo Orsetti’s writings. Although it was not conceived as a documentary about the Rojava revolution and the conflict in Syria, Tekoşer leaves us an important fresco on the characteristics of that conflict and of the revolutionary project in Rojava.”
“But in the narrative development other levels are emerging, such as the meaning of being partisans today and, finally, the problem of purpose and the meaning of one’s own life,” Salvetti synthesized.
The documentary, made with the collaboration of the Fondazione Archivio Audiovisivo del Movimento Operaio e Democratico, traces Orsetti’s life, from Florence, in Italy, to Rojava, passing through the battles of Afrin and Deir Ezzor in the last days of the military campaign of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) against ISIS and the Turkish state.
