BEHDÎNAN – HPG Press and Information Center issued a written statement revealing the identities of the 3 guerrillas who were martyred in the airstrikes of the occupying Turkish state on 23 January 2022. The HPG Press and Information Center shared the following information on the identities of the 3 guerrillas killed:
“On January 23, 2022, our comrades Amara, Viyan and Ferman were martyred in the air strikes of the occupying Turkish state on the Medya Defense Areas. Our comrades Amara, Viyan and Ferman took their place in a relentless struggle against the Turkish invasion of the Median Defense Areas last year, playing an important role in the withdrawal of the occupying army from Avaşin and Zap. The will and determination of our comrades Amara, Viyan and Ferman in the struggle will strengthen our struggle for freedom and our struggle.

AMARA BOTAN
Our comrade Amara was born in a patriotic family in the resistance town of Serhed in Van Elbak. Because the surroundings was so big and patriotic the place of our freedom war is so heavy, our friend Amara saw the opportunity to recognize our party. Also because of the patriotism of Elbak district, where hundreds of their guerrillas were martyred, the enemy was always putting pressure on this area. Our comrade Amara also saw the pressure and oppression of the enemy closely, did not struggle to understand the reality of the enemy. She also felt the genocidal policies of the enemy on our people, and came to the conclusion that she should fight against the policies of the enemy. Because in society the state was always portrayed as a woman at the secondary level, because it was seen as a property that a man could do whatever he wanted, this angered him. Believing that these collection policies against our people, especially those against women, must be responded to at the most radical level. Our comrade Amara also decided how to fight when the occupier Turkish state and its gangs ignored the achievements of our people and launched an attack to destroy these achievements. On this basis in 2014 he joined the guerrilla ranks and became a freedom fighter of our people. Our comrade Amara understood our Party and our Leader even more after receiving her initial training, on this basis she made significant changes in her personality and joined the freedom struggle. Particularly influenced by Leadership analyses on women’s emancipation, she entered into the quest to become a free woman. After a year of guerrilla practice in the mountains of Kurdistan, it has deepened both militarily and ideologically, and when ISIS gangs attacked our Yezidi people in Sinjar, she took her place among the initial groups that went to Sinjar. She fought with a sacrifice to save our people from the ISIS gangs. In the Sinjar area as an Apoyi militant she was interested in the problems of our Yazidi people, she saw this as a mission for herself, she tried in every way to respond to our people. As much as her role in the war, she did what she could to educate and organize the Yezidi youth. After our Yezidi people were liberated from the gangs and liberated, they returned to the mountains of Kurdistan with pride, having successfully fulfilled their mission. Our friend Amara had thus crossed into the Avaşin region. Our friend Amara was connected with the natural beauty of Avaşin, with the relationships of her peers, with all the features of the Avaşin area and put into practice her experience of war and life here. He excelled in the method of warfare of the new era, tactically and technically, thus becoming a skilled and professional guerrilla. With a sense of responsibility for life, never taking on the role of leader, he became an exemplary YJA Star militant. Our comrade Amara was loved as a role model in her relationship relationships with her simplicity, honesty and sincerity. In our fight for freedom this year our comrade Amara will be a source of strength and morale for us.

VIYAN SEMA AYDIN
Comrade Viyan grew up in Nusaybin in a patriotic family. At a young age her goal was to take part in cultural activities and play effective roles against the assimilation policies of the fascist Turkish state against the Kurdish people, on the basis of reviving and reviving the culture of her land. Comrade Viyan was aware of her responsibilities at a young age, she fulfilled her duties and responsibilities worthily and her friends have always been proud of her in this regard. Viyan’s common goal was to continue her struggle and to reduce her efforts in the field of struggle and so decided to return to the mountains of Kurdistan where a great struggle is being waged against the genocidal regime. On the begginig of 2015 Viyan joined the ranks of the guerrillas and from the first day of joining her comrades gave her a great value because of her efforts. With hierdetermined stance, self-education in terms of life, military and ideology, in a short time she became one with the mountains of Kurdistan. She has been loved among her friends for her effective practical work and for her high tempo. As an effective fighter for the Ideology of Women’s Freedom she has walked with self-confidence steps and has become one of the creators of the success that life and the struggle for women’s self-empowerment have. Friend Viyan has always played a positive role with her simplicity in life, with her ideological depth and with her determined attitude. She has always educated the things she has learned and given to her friends and colleagues in war and life. When the fascist Turkish state launched an occupier operation in Metin, Zap and Avaşin on April 23, Comrade Viyan entered a major struggle against the operations in Avaşin. She has developed the military and ideological qualities that are present in all the guerrillas of democratic modernity in her struggle and has been an example to us and her friends. In this process of operation, when the enemy was hit, it also played an important role and became an example for us, the comrades, in creating the victorious guerrillas of the new era.

FERMAN AGIRÎ
Heval Ferman was born in Cizre in a patriotic family and fought for the freedom of Kurdistan. The family of our friend Ferman, who got to know the Kurdistan Freedom Movement during the uprising in Cizre in the 1990s, became involved in these uprisings and became an exemplary family in Kurdistan because they showed that freedom can be achieved through struggle. Our friend Ferman was born into such a family and then, like all young Kurds, became aware of the policies of special warfare and genocide and decided that this should be combated. In 2012 when his cousin was martyred, this caused him to clear his mind in terms of method of struggle. Heval Ferman decided to continue his struggle in the mountains of Kurdistan as a Kurdistan guerrilla and joined the ranks in 2015 due to his young age. His cousin Ferman – Ferhat Taşkin was martyred in 2014 before joining the guerrilla ranks, and this has increased his anger against the enemy. Comrade Ferman after joining the ranks of the guerrillas, he always tried to understand the philosophy of the Leader and build his personality accordingly. Comrade Ferman was at the forefront of his military side and in 2018 was involved in a number of actions against the enemy in Avaşin. Although he was wounded many times in these battles, he never gave up the fight and at every moment his attention was on how he would strike at the enemy. As part of his guerrilla formation, he focused on martial arts courses and became an expert in many fields, becoming an intelligent guerrilla. He has also taught his friends what he has learned and has worked hard to prepare his friends for the war and to advance our war of liberation.
Our comrades Amara, Viyan and Ferman who played their historic role in the hand-to-hand resistance of 2021 and through their actions played a role in driving the enemy out of many areas. Dear families of our friends Amara, Viyan and Ferman, we extend our deepest condolences to all the patriotic people of Kurdistan. We reaffirm our commitment that we will definitely succeed on the path to freedom that our dear friends have enlightened.”
