SILÊMANÎYÊ, SOUTHERN KURDISTAN
The YNK public order attacked a tent which had been opened by young people in Southern Kurdistan to protest the KDP’s provocative policies of betrayal, namely the attack by KDP and Turkey against Shengal and the deployment of KDP loyalists to guerrilla areas.
In order to protest the invasion attacks of the invading Turkish state and the hostile attitude of the KDP, Gencanî Welatparêz and Gencanî Jinên Tekoşer had opened a tent. The PUK public order attacked the tent which had been set up in Silêmanîyê.
While many young people were battered in the attack, it was shared in a press release which followed that the hostile attitude of the KDP would not be accepted. The young people continued to protest the attack in Shengal.
In the continuation of the statement, it was stated that the loyalists being sent to the guerrilla areas and the declaration of war by the KDP were a treacherous attitude and served the invading Turkish state.
SHENGAL
The Shengal region had been liberated from ISIS siege by guerrillas of the PKK after KDP security forces abandoned thousands of ethnic minority Yezidis waiting to be killed by ISIS. Though the area was liberated by the PKK guerrillas, by the time a corridor was opened for civilians to flee, ISIS had destroyed the lives of countless after taking the defenseless people of the region hostage.
After its liberation, the people of Shengal armed themselves in order to not be betrayed by fleeing KDP forces again. The people of the Shengal region formed an autonomous administration, similar to that which is being implemented in Rojava, in order to gain independence from the Barzani dynasty which served them as bait to fully-armed jihadists.
The Barzani gang has tried various methods to regain control of the area since its liberation, working against the people by making agreements with the Iraqi government on their behalf. The peoples’ assemblies in Shengal have been very vocal of their rejection of such an agreement being made by the betraying KDP rather than with the assemblies formed by the local people.
The Turkish state, attacking directly via warplanes as opposed to its previous indirect attacks which were carried out through ISIS, is claiming that the local people are terrorists. On this basis, the terrorist Turkish state is increasingly attacking the region, declaring any non-KDP Kurdish formation a “terrorist organization.” The matter draws attention to what the KDP actually is and who it serves.
