BEHDİNAN, SOUTHERN KURDISTAN
Yesterday, a group of 16 young people announced their decision to join the PKK. In an interview with Nûçe Ciwan agency, the young people explained their reasons for joining, generally pointing out the fascist policies of the terrorist Turkish state as a main pull-factor.
Young people who joined the PKK stated the following:
A young woman, Sorxwin Viyan, celebrated the 43rd anniversary of the PKK and called on the youth of Kurdistan to turn to the free mountains. Şoreş Kato, who took the decision to join the PKK two months ago, stated that life in the metropolitan cities no longer carries meaning for him.
A young person who explained that the Turkish state forces young people to become spies, stated: “My name is Ferhat Çelik. I joined the PKK 2 months ago. My name at the party is Shoresh Kato. The reason I joined the organization was that there was no humane life in the places we lived. Our freedom was taken away from us. Our people are massacred every day but no one is held to account for these killings.”
Rojbin Yalçın, who took the decision to join the PKK a month ago, emphasized that the Turkish state oppresses young women and forces them into prostitution. Rojbin expressed that she joined the PKK to stop this situation. Stating that he was affected by the friendship and comradeship within the PKK, Rojbin Yalçın shared, “Before, when we were in Bakûrê Kurdistan, we were constantly exposed to the torture and fascism of the Turkish state”.
