BEHDİNAN, SOUTHERN KURDISTAN
On September 26, as enemy forces begun to surround the Martyr Kendal Area, the women guerrillas said: “We made a new song for the war”.
Despite three days of trying to film the guerrillas singing, one of the guerrillas who sang was a fighter and one a other was a health worker. This made our job very difficult.
Guerrilla Azê Viyan and guerrilla Cudi Çekdar wrote and sang the song. This song shows the women’s face of the war, its resistance …
The guerrillas sang their songs with their dafs in their hands.
Women guerrillas are actively leading the war in Heftanin, a war which forced the fascist Turkish state to retreat from the area shortly after it proudly marched in with the latest technology. These freedom fighters not only repulsed Turkish occupation forces, but did so with great enthusiasm.
