Although positivism was introduced as a “factual” or “positive” science by the French philosopher Agusto Comte in the 1800s, positivism is in reality deep, European mental distortion. This style of science, which follows a method of basing the entire reality of a thing on just facts, experiments and matters, never reaches the truth.
As it is known, the behavior, psychology, morality and culture of society can never be based on experimentation. Even if this was attempted, no true or meaningful results can be obtained. Not to mention, these results will have no relation to the truth.
The European way of thinking defines itself as progressive and scientific as opposed to the Eastern mystical, metaphysical and spiritual way of thinking. And it does this through Positivism. However, positivism cannot save itself from being the modern representative of the most vulgar idolatry by reducing everything to matter.
Today, most people we come across feel urged to prove their every word with scientific evidence or through experiments. The most positivist references are used during everyday conversations, to prove that one is not lying. Within positivist society, this causes a person to become more believable and reliable. This European method can be considered as an attack on the spirituality of humanity. The trivialization of spirituality and the prioritization of materialism cause the deterioration of social life and bonds. It is an invaluable achievement for the system to make the society accept what civilization has not been able to do with forced methods for thousands of years, through scientism. A society whose spirituality and life ties are severed cannot organize and resist against power and tyranny.
This approach of positivism, which makes everything a subject of experiment and observation, leads to a rigid subject-object understanding along with modern idolatry.
As it is known, according to the western scientific understanding, the observer-observed relationship is another form of the subject-object relationship. Accordingly, the subject has all kinds of disposal rights on the object. This gives way for the dissection and investigation of everything that the subject values, in the name of an experiment.
Thus, let’s avoid the plundering of nature, the human body, morality, brain, by remaining under the control of the state in every aspect. The subject-object distinction deepened by positivist scientism offers a wide range of benefits for the state. In social life, while the state plays the role of the subject, the object becomes everything else. Thus, the state and authority have the right to unlimited disposition over the whole society and nature. In the name of progressivism and scientificity!
