PKK Executive Committee member Duran Kalkan spoke to Dengê Welat Radio about the situation in prisons due to the 42nd anniversary of the founding of the PKK, stated that our goal is great, our claim is strong, the struggle is multi-faceted, it is certain that we will fight much stronger than ever and win big.
“PKK is now a half-century old”
Duran Kalkan started his speech by expressing excitement and enthusiasm on behalf of the PKK as well as the Kurdish people on another anniversary since the founding of the PKK. The PKK executive also touched on the countless times enemy forces have vowed to end the PKK, he said:
“Our party, the PKK, is completing its 42nd year since its official establishment, entering its 43rd year of struggle. We are excited and enthusiastic to enter a new age, to live a new anniversary as a movement and as a people. Many lifespans have been estimated for our Party, we have shown that none of these are accurate. Our march on the line of the Leadership is approaching its 50th anniversary, completing half a century. In fact, we can now say that the PKK, as a Leadership movement, is also a movement of half a century. Leader Apo stated the following:
Undoubtedly, the official establishment of the PKK is important. Every official year has been lived through with relentless struggles against great difficulties. But the five-year period before its official establishment is much more meaningful and important.
He said that these years must be known better than the rest. Why? Because all the fundamental principles and features that created the PKK were shaped in those five years. These years were based on Leader Apo and his comrades, their relations, their struggle and their common march. It expresses a process where Leader Apo’s thoughts, understanding and principles took form and became an organization. The official establishment of the PKK developed on this basis.” In the continuation of this speech, Duran Kalkan celebrate the anniversary or “national resurrection day” of his comrades in the dungeons. He said “I wish success to all comrades, our people, and all those who fight for freedom and democracy.”
Duran Kalkan commemorated the martyrs of the revolution with respect and love, stating ” I once again repeat our promise to achieve its goals and to keep its memories alive.”
He referred to the “Time for Freedom” moves being adopted by various organisations and parties throughout Kurdistan and the world after it was launched by the PKK on 12 September:
“We are entering the 43rd year with a much bigger claim with the Time For Freedom move. We are organising the ‘End fascism-occupation-isolation‘ move in line with the Revolutionary resistance of Cenga Heftanin. It is clear that in the 43rd year we will destroy AKP-MHP fascism, shatter the Imrali isolation system, and develop great resistance against all kinds of occupation. On this basis, our main goal is to gain all freedoms within the framework of the physical freedom of Leader Apo. We are entering the new party year on the basis of such a planned revolutionary move, with great assertion and determination, with high enthusiasm and excitement. Our aim is great, our claim is strong, the struggle is multifaceted, it is certain that we will fight stronger than ever and win big. “
THE USA-TURKEY-KDP ALLIANCE
“It must be seen that great gains have been made in the 42nd year of struggle, the year of the Party. Historical achievements and a great legacy are indeed handed over to the 43rd year of struggle. On the basis of the international conspiracy developed on the basis of the US-TR-KDP alliance, the planned attacks aimed at destroying and liquidating Leader Apo and our party PKK have been avoided one by one. The resistances that developed from Afrin to Xakurke, from Serêkaniyê to Heftanin, and the resistances that took root in the AKP-MHP fascism in 2018, 2019 and 2020 are obvious. We went down in history as a movement, as a people who defeated ISIS.
No matter what they say, as the PKK movement we have overcome a fascist-gang, ISIS, that has plagued humanity and the Kurdish people. We overcame a barbarism that threatened the peoples of the Middle East and Kurds. Nobody can deny this anymore. We have seriously regressed similar gang groups standing by the AKP-MHP fascism, from FSA to al-Qaedaism.
It is known that a major attack has been carried out against Leader Apo and our Party under the leadership of the Trump administration for the last four years in order to void these developments, this struggle we are waging, and our achievements. Actually the international conspiracy has been updated. We know that Trump insulted Leader Apo. He said “the PKK is worse than ISIS”. He insulted the freedom fighters who defeated ISIS by saying that they were “fleeing” from the battlefield. In fact, it is obvious who was making great efforts to run without even looking back. Everyone saw it. And the situation could have been different if PKK fighters had not been altruistic. On the basis of these, the Trump administration stood by the occupation operations from Afrin to Xakurke, from Rojava and Bashure Kurdistan. The aim here was to claim responsibility for the achievements gained by the heroic resistance of the young women and men of the Kurdish people equipped with Apoist consciousness in the line of sacrifice. Here they tried to claim glory for the gains we had made, while leaving some to the Iraqi state and some to the AKP-MHP fascism. Finally, they are trying to give some of it to KDP collaboration.
On this basis, the Leadership line and the PKK organization would supposedly be destroyed and liquidated before the end of 2020. This was the purpose of the planned attacks developed in 2017, 2018 and 2020. In the spring of 2020, the process that led the KDP to shift forces to Zine Wertê, Helgurt, Xinêrê areas, and also to Avashin and Heftan’s sides was actually such a planned attack process. According to the information we received, this process would be completed by September. PKK was to be destroyed and liquidated in Medya Defense Zones. Thus, the Medya Defense Zones and Rojava Kurdistan would fall into the hands of the TC and KDP alliance. They carried out an attack on the basis of such an aim. They worked in extreme coordination. The target here was the purging and destruction of the PKK. They also made this clear. They also said to surrender before starting such an attack. They also threatened us saying if you don’t surrender you will perish.”
Duran Kalkan continued his words as follows: “Now, in the 42nd year, we have been exposed to regional and global attacks. As a movement and as a people, we resisted such a total fascist genocide in the 42nd year of the PKK. We resisted as a movement. We resisted as a people. Above all, we resisted as the Leader, as a guerrilla, as a youth and as a woman. We resisted as thousands, tens of thousands of prisoners-hostages, prisoners of war in the dungeons. As our people abroad, we resisted as our friends. We really waged an all-out resistance against all-out fascist-genocidal aggression. We continued this resistance by giving martyrs every day. We gave Kasım Engin, Egid Civyan, Leyla Agiri, Amara Batman and lastly Yılmaz Dêr. We have indeed waged an all-out resistance in four parts of Kurdistan, abroad, in the mountains, in the plain, in the city, in the dungeon, in all armed and unarmed methods. Why did I point this out? We are experiencing an anniversary of the Party, we have to evaluate the practice of the last party year. We wanted to express these so that we can evaluate them correctly.”
TRUMP HAS FALLEN, IT IS TIME FOR TAYYIP
“This is how the unity and attacks of the enemy force unfolded. We can say that, globally, we experienced the most comprehensive attack of the genocidal attacks. As the movement and the people, our resistance in every field, on the basis of the Total Revolutionary People’s War strategy, equated to the sum of our entire history of resistance. So the attacks were huge. The enemy’s aim was destruction and liquidation. Against this, the resistance was really unrelenting. It’s historic. There was a great resistance. First of all, we have to see this fact. We need to understand this resistance correctly. We must understand both the enemy attacks and our resistance correctly, and we must reach the correct results.
What were the results? The command itself, which planned and organized this attack, updated the international conspiracy aimed to destroy the PKK before the end of 2020, to make it perished. He lost the elections. The command of the existing US-TC-KDP annihilation and liquidation alliance has lost, the administration has been defeated. Now it’s time for Tayip. Here they are trying to mobilize the current KDP administration to save Tayip. They wanted to prevent the Trump administration from falling. They couldn’t. It makes no sense for the KDP special forces to turn to besiege the guerrilla areas in mid-October. They were aiming to save Trump, they could not. Now they are attacking to save Tayyip, but they will not be able to save him either. Trump has fallen, it’s time for Tayip. Of course, as they fall, Kurdish collaboration will decline.
Lets be careful. While the enemy’s attack plans were voided and broken, our movement launched a new freedom move, a victory move on September 12. The move aimed at Leader Apo’s physical freedom, a grat revolutionary-resistance was initiated around th Leadership, a free Kurdistan and a democratic Turkey and Middle-East.
We developed a massive revolutionary resistance move, which envisaged to carry our Revolutionary People’s War Strategy to victory, that included all methods of struggle in four parts of Kurdistan and abroad. While the enemy plans were disrupted, they were not only spoiled, a massive martial resistance arose aimed at defeating the fascist-genocidal mentality and politics, for the victory of our freedom struggle. Our people, youth, guerrilla and friends lead this resistance in every field, in four parts of Kurdistan, and prisons resist on this basis.
THE LEADERSHIP TAKES CARE OF OUR TRUTH
All over the world, everyone is trying to understand Leader Apo. They’re reading his defences. The leadership takes care of our truth. The impulsive resistance launched for the physical freedom of Leader Apo has become a global freedom resistance that has spread all over the world. While the will of those who want to destroy us is broken, their plans are broken, they are defeated and overthrown, our movement welcomes its 42nd year with a great resistance move. Thus, it may be the first time that the enemy’s plans of attack are broken, that we are initiating such a great revolutionary move close to winning victory, and we are entering a new party year all simultaneously. This makes us much stronger as we enter the new party year.
Just as the Rojava Liberation Forces, our people, the Kurdish people had saved humanity from the fascist attacks of ISIS, we aim to defeat the fascist Erdogan-Bahceli dictatorship in Turkey, to save Kurdish and Turkish people as well as humanity from the threats and attacks of AKP-MHP fascism. We are extremely determined and assertive in this regard. All data show that we will be successful and get results. With this claim, we are entering the 43rd year of the PKK and we will definitely win. “
RESISTANCE IN THE DUNGEONS
Emphasizing the dominant role and importance of dungeons in the PKK’s history of struggle, Duran Kalkan noted that the stance and resistance in the dungeon have a vital role in terms of the struggle. PKK Executive Committee member Duran Kalkan recalled the Great Hunger Strike Resistance in November 2018 and made the following evaluations:
“The massive hunger strike resistance that started in November 2018 and lasted for 200 days yielded significant results. It shattered the Imrali isolation, it broke the door of Imrali, and paved the way for lawyer meetings for the first time in eight years. It enabled our people, all peoples, to hear the voice of Leader Apo. It is certain that the 200-day hunger strike resistance concentrated in prisons played a decisive role in achieving such a result. “
Reminding of the martyrs of the hunger strike resistance, Duran Kalkan pointed out that the AKP-MHP fascism was unable to take a step back even to one of more than ten thousand prisoners, he continued as follows:
“Actually, we wanted to greet 2020 within the scope of the resistance move. The move that was initiated in September was actually supposed to begin on the basis of protest against the February 15 conspiracy. But the microbe spread by the capitalist modernity system, a cancerous disease, did not allow this. The pandemic called the corona virus did not allow this. Our guerrilla compensated this with the revolutionary move of Cenga Heftanin. In an environment where humanity has become unable to move due to the attacks of the capitalist microbe in many areas, our heroic guerrilla forces have developed a resistance move that inflicts fatal blows on the fascist-genocidal enemy from Xakurke to Dersim, from Mardin to Serhad, to Heftanin. The resistance move of Cenga Heftanin, against the invasion attack on Heftanin that started on June 16 after the Mexmur and Shengal attacks in June, has known to be a historical resistance that broke the planned attack of the TR-KDP-USA alliance with the aim of destroying and liquidating the PKK.
CRUELTY AND TORTURE IN DUNGEONS
As a movement and as a people, we resist everywhere. On this basis, dungeons also continue to play their role. Of course, it is clear that the fascist-terrorist dictatorship which wants to occupy the lands of the south, to destroy the revolution in Rojava, to spread repression in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey; will also reproduce this repression in the dungeons.
As a matter of fact, while the AKP-MHP fascism developed its planned attacks to destroy and liquidate the PKK it imposed a great pressure-cruelty-torture in all four parts of Kurdistan and abroad, with the support of the USA. We know that. These relations are getting deeper and deeper. In this sense, even existing, living, maintaining a revolutionary will and power in prisons has become a great resistance. We evaluate every attitude and stance that preserves the revolutionary will, dignity and lives as a revolutionary against the increasing persecution and torture in the prison, as a great revolutionary resistance. We attach great meaning. This is the dungeon stance that is worthy of our reality of great dungeon resistance, the resistance of 1982, the resistance line of the Mazlums, the four, the July 14th.
Along with these, there are great contributions to the struggle. There are various protests, there are temporary hunger strikes. There is strong resistance to the increasing oppression and torture. Other revolutionary work is underway. All of these were the contributions and support of the prison revolutionism to this move within the scope of the “time for freedom” move. On this basis, the dungeon arm of our move continues in a position that coincides with our 1982 dungeon resistance line, takes that line as basis and continues. It exists. It offers contribution.
DIFFICULTY IS THE BEARER OF IMPROVEMENT
In this context, their greetings reach us. There are a limited amount of letters and sometimes pictures. There are products that have arrived. We are trying to evaluate them. The comrades should not have worries about this either.
Of course, comrades in the dungeons should be able to work harder in order to reveal the materials needed to educate our people, youth, Kurdish women and men deeper and stronger in the line of Apoist freedom by producing deeper emotions and thoughts to strengthen our party literature. They have important knowledge. This means joining, joining most powerfully at the level of eternal spiritual integrity.
“Hevalê Fuat is one of the comrades who most accurately expresses such a correct participation. Hevalê Fuat has a very meaningful and concise poem that envisions his participation in the reality of Leader Apo on this basis, I want to finish this by reading this to the comrades in the dungeons,” said Kalkan, and read Ali Haydar Kaytan’s poem.
