Bielefeld Kurdistan Center held a rally on Tuesday evening to protest the KDP’s preparations for an attack with the Iraqi state against the autonomous Shengal region.
The rally started at 17:00 at the Bielefeld central train station, and was participated and organnised by SMJÊ, TCŞ, TEKO-JIN, YXK, JXK, NAV-YEK and TAJÊ.
An activist who read a statement during the action stated the following:
“When ISIS gangs attacked the Shengal region in 2014, the Iraqi ruling and treason party KDP, led by the Barzani tribe, withdrew thousands of Peshmerga soldiers from Shengal and handed over the Yazidî people to genocide and massacres of women. Only the PKK came to the aid of the people and fought for the freedom of the Shengal people. Today, ISIS has come to an end militarily, thanks to the historical resistance of the Kurdish people. But in recent days, the Iraqi state is taking action again against the Yazidi community in Shengal and at the same time waging a special war to tear the PKK from the people. The people of Shengal are facing a new genocide threat! Let’s do today what we were too late to do in 2014! Let’s not allow attacks on Shengal, let’s defend the people of Shengal! ”
