On Wednesday, the German parliament approved a joint request submitted by the ruling coalition parties, the Free Democratic Party and the Green Party, asking the government to consider banning the fascist Grey Wolves organization. The applicants emphasized that “the organization is racist, anti-Semitic, anti-democratic and threatens the internal security of the country.”
In a report by the German internal intelligence, it was emphasized that the Grey Wolves movement spread extremist right-wing nationalist ideas, indicating that the movement has ties to the National Movement Party in Turkey, which forms a government alliance with the Justice and Development Party, and is headed by Turkey’s pro-ISIS President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Previously, the French government banned the nationalist Grey Wolves movement, after it promoted hatred and committed acts of violence in France.
The request submitted to the German Parliament welcomed the step taken by France against the fascist movement, adding that other countries should also follow the French model.
The Grey Wolves movement is responsible for creating tension and clashes between the Turkish and Armenian communities in Decin-Charpieu, near Lyon, where the phrase “Grey Wolves” sprayed fascist remarks on a monument honoring the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
