VIENNA, AUSTRIA
TEKO-JIN activists and internationalist youth held a civil disobedience action at the headquarters of Rheinmetall, a company which produces weapons for dictators and repressive regimes in many countries, including Kurdistan.
During the demonstration which started at 7 o’clock in the morning, the young people held banners reading: “If you shout, the operations stop! If you remain silent, people die” and “No weapons for allies of jihadists.”
The Young women also released a press statement outside the headquarters, explaining that Rheinmetall is one of the companies which sells arms to the invading Turkish state the most, ad thus plays a role in the war crimes being committed by the fascist Turkish state.
The activists shared that they do not accept the crimes being committed by Rheinmetall in Kurdistan, and highlighted that it is inhuman to aid such attacks for economic profit. The young people also highlighted that it was European countries who divided Kurdistan, and thus it is their responsibility to intervene in the genocide which is being carried out by the Turkish state. The Youth explained, “this war must be ended where it started.”
The action was organized within the framework of the “Bi Hev Re Serhildan” move and the “RiseUp4Rojava” campaign and ended after police attacked the action.
