The Paris Police condemned an attack at dawn carried out by more than 40 people who launched fireworks, iron bars and other projectiles against a police station in the community of Champigny-sur-Marne.
About 40 people attacked Saturday night with fireworks and iron bars the Champigny-sur-Marne police station, east of Paris, in which five patrol cars and a few windows were damaged. There were no casualties, according to local media.
The newspaper ‘Le Parisien’ specified on Monday that a person had already been arrested for the attack, which took place shortly before midnight.
The newspaper indicates that two officers were smoking a cigarette outside when the assailants approached. The two policemen took cover as the group attempted, unsuccessfully, to enter the building.
The images which disseminated on social networks show that numerous fireworks were launched against the police station as several rubbish containers outside were also set on fire. Some armed people were also filmed trying to break into the police station.
The attack is the third faced by the police headquarters in two years. The police station is located in a conflict zone. In April, a group of several people carried out an attack on the same place throwing mortars.
